kamboj sb We know that the media doesnt show proper lap times from the NSX only drag times. Typical. The sad shit about this is the fact that a lot of track day drivers have Hondas and Alfas, even considering the fact of media always dumping the hell of out of those two brands. i was expecting a more impartial result, even if the nsx lost. for fuck sake get the brake pads and do a proper test, in the wet and in the dry. there's not a single lap time test of the nsx on the dry, why is that?
@Malc180s
@Malc180s 7 жыл бұрын
Because it keeps breaking, and at this time of year it rains. Also, grown ups don't all have unlimited time and money to give you an irrelevant, everything covered test. It's a light-hearted car video about a big toy - stop being so serious. You can pretend car enthusiasts around the world are, for some reason, plotting against Honda if it makes you feel better though.
@fernandofragoso4118
@fernandofragoso4118 7 жыл бұрын
Malc180s For fuck sake explain me how a dry hot lap is an irrelevant test? Dry hot lap is the most relevant test of all tests. A lot of people that drive these cars harder only do it on dry perfect conditions, never in the wet. so explain me how a dry lap comparison is irrelevant. And if you check thermal lap times the NSX was faster than 911 GT3 RS and a lot of other contenders. Its a very different result. Now explain me why...
@fernandofragoso4118
@fernandofragoso4118 7 жыл бұрын
Malc180s Which is irrelevant is a wet lap. Most of the people only drive fast on dry conditions.

Tyler Hoeve your right. The GTR is either loved or hated but Godzilla is bad arse for non keyboard worriors. wasting your time replying to people that probably never owned it. is a flipping monster of a chassis/engine and has street cred, like no other. When you are a real petrolhead, I generally love most great cars irrespective of brand price etc. Bov knows his cars so just look at his fave when he drives Godzilla. nsx mid engine supercar is lovely and the 911 is iconic in its own right. Children pick, adults want it all
@derbigpr500
@derbigpr500 7 жыл бұрын
Tyler Hoeve Um...no it wasn't. Listen I like the GT-R and spent quite some time in them but GT-R was not a benchmark when it came to dual clutch transmissions, in fact, it was never a benchmark in that regard, great , but not as good as PDK or Ferrari's systems. It was just a very fast car in 2009, but not a benchmark, since it was still on par with 911 Turbo S, Ferrari 458, Gallardo, etc. In fact, in Japan, on their best car show, called Best Motoring, where real, actual race drivers, drive the cars on the tracks in Japan, GT-R lost directly to the Gallardo in a race, a base Gallardo, none of those Superlegera versions, that was back in 2009 or 2010, not sure, but I know that Japanese race drivers heavily criticized the GT-R and called it a one trick pony, because it was good at hot lapping for a few laps, and then everything would overheat and it would go into safe mode, while the Gallardo they said felt like it could race all day long and not break a sweat, which they mentioned as the main difference between a real supercar that is understressed on the limit and the GT-R which is very stressed on the limit. When the Japanese race drivers on a Japanese tell you that about their best car, you know it's true. Also remember that was a time when you'd lose a warranty if you used launch control more than 10 times or some oddly small number, so Nissan wasn't very confident either. It was a great and a very fast car, but it was slightly overhyped, and that created A LOT of fanboys.
@LegendInThaMakin
@LegendInThaMakin 7 жыл бұрын
derbigpr500 I completely agree but you can't exactly just discredit the gtr like that. In 2009 it was an outrageously fast car for only 60k. The ghallardo is a legend on its own but it was also way more expensive. It's easy to criticisize the gtr now that it's aged and costs a lot more but back then it was an insane bargain.

Well, it's not like Honda has no experience in that regard, they do have motorsports programmes, even with the new NSX. It beated Huracan but only the RWD version that has even less power. It wouldn't really stand a chance against a more powerful AWD version. Then it beated GT-R, but that was on a straight. Thanks to a little bit more power and the electric motors it's faster in straight line than a GT-R. But it's not faster on a track, that's why it's lost in this comparison.

William Levesque It comes down to cost and marketing. Mechanical bits cost a lot of money and most of these cars won't get anywhere near needing it on public roads. I like mechanical over electrical solutions but a lot of the time people just won't pay for it l.
@WilliamLevesqueineX
@WilliamLevesqueineX 7 жыл бұрын
E-Diffs don't have to use the brakes to control torque, but it's the "easy" (and lazy dumb) way to do it. Having a clutch pack in there is cheaper, but they are noisier and rougher so I guess they don't want to. And Torsen units dont handle big power so that's a no-go.

Never doubt how much money companies get convinced to siphon off to marketing/the marketing division, lol. I've seen plenty of games and movies that had a HIGHER MARKETING BUDGET than they actually spent designing/making the thing... cause they realize that superficial marketing bullshit often pays off faster and more easily than being 100% transparent, honest, and doing it RIGHT.

Its not selling. Reviews are bad, performance is worse, its extremely overpriced, only the politicians want hybrids and there are so many better cars at its price point it just doesnt have a chance.
@Viktor9502
@Viktor9502 4 жыл бұрын
@@edmartinezdj9034 nothing wrong with being hybrid. Honda should instead slip out some info to aftermarket tuners and then the nsx will be great. The nsx is a honda. Its main focus is reliability and longevity. So, obviously this car is capable of more power, they just didnt go all in. If aftermarket tuners figured out the ecu and how to upgrade turbos, it would be a wrap for all other brands. Imagine an nsx with upgraded turbos and a true tune. It would destroy everything. The electric motors in the NSX shut off at about 60mph. It essentially loses about 100hp after 60mph, that's why it loses in so many drag races and track events. Almost every other sports cars in this class has aftermarket tuning and part capabilities. The nsx merely has downpipes and a piggy back tune that adds like 60hp. The issue isnt the hybrid, the issue is nobody can tune these lol.

As usual, quality content by DT. And as usual, the Porsche is the runaway winner. It may cost a lot but its worth every penny and you can see where all they money goes. It also looks beautiful in yellow.Well done Porsche!

Watch the onboard external camera on the NSX closely and you can clearly see the inside rear wheel lifting on certain corners. Looks to me like either the sway bars or shocks are too firm which is why the car seems to twitch around between slip and grip far less gracefully than the 911. Everyone says the NSX rides very nicely anyhow so perhaps they should firm up the springs. Then again there's a few other things I'd change on that car...plastic paddleshifts anyone??

Brilliant and beautiful video! You almost give Honda too much credit, they have priced the NSX higher than anything else in its category, yet it's probably no faster or capable than a £60k cheaper 991.2 4S, oh and that wears a Porsche badge too... Madness. At least they can build reliable F1 engines 😂😂😂

Exactly, the car makers are pushing this stuff, F1 has gone hybrid to promote it and has been ruined in the process too. We need more efficient lorries, buses and taxis, more efficient supercars won't change anything.

They should have gone the "BRZ" route and make a fun car that is fast enough but perfect to drive at any speed. Trying to play catch up with the likes of Porsche and Mclaren is hard.

And yet the NSX wins road races in stock trim. I wonder why.... Chris Harris loved the car. What you professional critics don't get is the fact that the NSX was NEVER about beating something else. It's about drive, feel, reliability and just having a great car that's easy to drive. The reviewer even in this video acknowledges how good the car is and how Honda with a single attempt have done what the GTR has taken years to evolve into. The same goes for the Porsche. It's good that so many people are critical of Honda. They must be doing something right to ruffle so many feathers. Also you've mentioned that the GTR was 60k when it first came out. What you haven't taken into consideration is that they priced the car incorrectly when it came out and had issues with the USD to YEN exchange rate at the time. The price they set wasn't what they wanted to get out of the car. Also dealerships marked up the car to 120k charging a 100% markup. The price went up quickly after that. So it was never a 60k car. Stop acting like it was.

LegendInThaMakin Why there is not a single dry lap time comparison with NSX? The car have its handicaps like straight line performance but in terms of cornering i sincerely doubt that any of the contenders get the same result on the skidpad. they still testing it on the wet, where the additional weight make it worst in terms of result. and btw everyday driving doesnt include raining all the time. it may be like that on UK but not in the most of the world. just saying what a bad excuse to avoid make a dry lap with all of them.

Based on the few frames I could catch, the NSX seems to lift the inside rear tire quite a bit. That might have something to do with the "unpredictable" rear end you were talking about. I can't imagine it would be better in the dry with more grip. I would guess that it would lift more, but I'm not very knowledgeable about these things.
