The blower motor in the 2007 honda pilot became very noisey, and had excessive vibration. Here's how I fixed it.

Best. KZfaq video. Ever. I had the blower off, cleaned and replaced in under 2 hours on my 2008 pilot. I left the seat in and just removed the glove compartment and crossbar. Easily saved me a few hundred bucks by avoiding the mechanic.

Thank you for doing this. Saved me a ton of time. Taking the seat out was no big deal...less than 10 minutes and made the whole repair so much easier. Findings? Two mice apparently decided the blower cavity would make a nice nest. Unfortunate end for the little critters...

Extremely Useful video! Although, I wound up not removing the seat or glove compartment, it was extremely useful for folks who might need the information to create some more room when digging in there. Definitely took the passenger side kick plate off and pealed back some of the carpet for ease of accessing the most difficult screw. After double checking the posted video a couple of times to make sure I located the correct screws, it was a fairly easy process. Took some contortion maneuvering to get under there, but I found a "comfortable" position and away I went. I pulled out the blower, found a big ole mouse in there, and cleaned it out. After I patted myself on the back for a job well done, I put it back together and buttoned it all back up. Because I am not mechanically gifted, I was incredibly surprised it only took me an hour. I can see this not taking an hour for the ones who don't easily fit under there, and especially for ones who don't have patience for extremely tight spaces and small screws. 10/10 for awesome information and content.

Thank you for putting together this video on the removal and cleaning of the blower motor. We also own a 2007 Pilot, and the blower motor is steadily becoming more noisy. I wasn't sure if it will need to be replaced or just cleaned out, so this really helps me with pulling it out and making the determination of next steps.

Thank you! This was great. Took me a total of about 2 hours to do this on my 2003 Honda Pilot . I had 3 pieces of plastic in my blower. Make sure you check up into where you pull the fan down. One of the pieces was up there, and I put it back together, and it still made a noise . I had to take it apart again to get the third piece of plastic. Also, I used a 11/32 ratchet on the blower nut/screws. Dealer said it was a blown motor and would cost $385 to replace.

Fan is making a bit of noise most likely spinning and warping slightly with a mouse in it, but at least it doesn't stink of mouse carcass anymore. 2005 Pilot, and it was MUCH easier to put the glove compartment back on by not tightening the metal cross brace bolts and screws all the way, closing it, putting the driver's side bolt on, and then opening it to put the passenger's side bolt back on, and then tightening the cross brace bolts and screws. (Otherwise that passengers side bolt is ungodly hard to get back in!) I only had two seat plugs to unplug and my airbag light is now on...ill try disconnecting the battery, letting it sit for 15 minutes, and reconnecting it to see if it clears. Helpful video!

No need to remove the seat. Use a 1/4" stubby ratchet with 1" extension on the 8mm bolt that's hard to get at. I've done a few Pilot blower motor R&R's and it takes about 15 - 20 mins. You don't remove the glove box door. You do pull off the passenger door kick plate and the fuse box cover ,.(they just pull off). Another tip is pull the carpet back under the blower motor.

Thank you for this video! The two biggest tips were taking the seat out and using the flexible bit driver! I'm 6'5" and taking that seat out made it super easy instead of contorting myself to get in there.

Steve - Thanks for this video. It helped tremendously with getting to that rear screw. My son's car had 1" x 1" three pieces of paper towel get ingested somehow into the fan and that was enough to make one heck of a weird sound when the fan was at full speed. I did manage to get the fan out without removing the seat, but it did take a few tries on the re-installation of that back screw with the flexible shaft.

My 2011 Honda Pilot blower motor starting making a whining noise. So I removed the glove box and kick plate and side panel then removed the fan and an old parking valet ticket fell out of the plastic wheel. Lol. Thanks for the video. Helped me do the job quickly. No need to take the seat out. I used a 10mm socket with flex shaft to get the fan bolts out. The yellow harness is part of the airbag system. DO NOT unplug or plug in those connectors unless you disconnect the battery first and wait 30 minutes before touching it. There is a potential to set off the airbags. I'm an auto shop owner who has been in business since 1998.

Excellent advice. I did a video on replacing a turn signal switch on my sons car, and mention why the battery should be disconnected for safety. But did not consider it on this repair. Another thing that comes to mind, my sons cars computer didn't like him unplugging his seat harness. Through a code. I think it was the seat belt tensioner. So looks like its better to just disconnec battery for any electrical repairs.

I just replaced the blower motor on my wife's 2007 Pilot and there is absolutely no need to remove the glove box or the seat. Yes you will have more space if you remove them but I was still easily able to do the swap in about 15 minutes from my knees and I only had to remove the small trim piece on the right side of the passenger floorboard. By the way I am 5' 10" in height and weigh 235 lbs so I'm definitely a bigger guy and it really wasn't that tight for me.

Agree 100%. I did 2 Pilot blower motor replacements last week. The key is using the right tool to get at the 8mm bolt that's hard to get at. I recommend a 1/4" stubby ratchet with a 1" extension on the 8mm socket.

Even if the blower fan is noisy. if you feel it blowing air, it's not the issue. You may have a leak in the system, allowing the new freon to have leaked out.
