Some things just weren't made to be reverse engineered by design. It's always good to be mindful of device outputs. This happened to me once with an inverter so what I did was convert the plug into separate clips to connect directly to the battery terminals. Lesson learned lol 😆

Good job! "Cigarette Lighter" ampere is no longer available in most DC Adapters. Good enough for charging phones, radar detectors, or a NAV device. An air pump,vacuum cleaner, or a power inverter will most likely blow the fuse or the DC adapter like yours.

Yup and people need to be aware and be careful what they plug in or you'll end up in this situation.

Thanks for this video. I have the same issue on the 12v socket in the trunk , i dont want to remove the panels so do you think i could just pull out the socket after pushing in the clips and replace.

Thanks for the video. Can you give us a link to the cigarette plug tester you used with the led readouts? Also, do you think it’s possible to get the socket out just with a pick without dash disassembly? Finally, official Honda service manual seems to have no mention of a fusible link in the socket itself!?!? Not impressed Honda! Wasted time before finding your video.

After pulling my meter out I found the issue and saved that plastic part to put back in later if it stops working again later.. silver disk connects to silver gasket. Silver gasket is bent out to make contact to silver disk. Silver gasket connects to prongs. All I had to do was bend the center part of the gasket out so it makes contact with the silver disk.

On the 2013 Honda Civic it is actually two different 20 amp fuses. They do allow a 20 amp for the one in the cubbyhole and a 20 amp for the one in the armrest so they definitely are separate. I'm having the same issue and I believe you just help me solve it but just to clarify there are two 20 amp fuses

Pull out the power port and do a continuity test.

@@AnthonyJ350 I plan on it I had to take off on an emergency when I started working on it. The fuses are fine so it's got to be that outlet but I'll definitely do a test with my meter as soon as I get a chance to open it up. I appreciate it

I got a same problem with your car too! My one is a Japanese/ Hong Kong version Honda Fit GK5/GP5. Same , the wire was found have 12volts and fuse are ok , but the socket with no power come.

Just replace the 12 V power ports with dual 3.0 USB quick charge ports.

I have a Honda accord 2021 with the same issue. Check the fuses and the relay and they are all good. Do you happen to know the part number of the replacement port? I’ve searched on Honda parts websites with no solution. Not sure if I’m putting in the right part description. Any help is appreciated! Great video and glad I was able to find it.

I use a website called Honda Parts Now. You can enter your vehicle info and search for just about any part and buy from them. They contract with dealers all over the country to source parts. Shipping isn't so cheap though, often it's cheaper to look up the part there, then order it through your dealer.

In the honda civic the cigarette port and the two other ports have no pover unless you put the key in the ignition and put it into the acc position. I learned this the hard way

What if your fuse keeps blowing out for those power outlets. Is it the outlet?

Where can I find an AC inverter unit that fits into my Honda CRV 2014 DC power ports? I bought a 100W AC plugin inverter unit at Walmart, and it simply would not fit, i.e. plug into my car. I called a Honda dealership, and they didn't know either. In the old days you simply plugged into you cigarette lighter all kinds of stuff. Nothing could be simpler.

Any hints on disassembling a 2010 CRV which has an aux and power outlet in the console compartment? I want to change the power outlet with a dual port USB for an android head installation. using a BATIGE 2 Ports Dual USB 3.0 Male to USB 3.0 Female AUX Flush Mount Car Mount.

The fuse for the center console is number 12 .... 20 amp.... Then for the front accessory power socket it is also another 20 amp and it is fuse number 27

Why don’t you simply replace the power port with a dual 3.0 USB power outlet with a built-in voltmeter so you can keep an eye on the battery strength while you’re listening to the car stereo with the car not running. 12 V power parts are as useful today as armoires are in bedrooms

The client has a laptop charger that uses the cigarette style port. I have a video on replacing these with a USB instead.

Fuse Box. But the power adaptor has a fusible link built into it as well.

@@alwilkinson42 Take a test light, turn ignition to the run position (engine not running) and test all of them to verify they're all ok. Can also read the owner's manual and inspect "accessory" or "power outlet" fuses.
