One of the best sounding 4-pots ever! Held the record for highest specific output of any production N/A engine for years, and it took a Ferrari to beat it which probably cost 6-7 times as much. Super reliable to boot.

My 1.3 13b puts out 180hp per a liter which beats the s2k, and the 458 by a LONG shot. The s2k only held that record till the rx8 came out 3 years later.... The s2k is my next car though. A beautiful car.

Worthy of a mention the fact that the F22C1 didn't have a balance shaft or a dual mass flywheel yet had performance , high revs , decent sized pistons and a long stroke. Something unrepeated 15 years later. I wonder what that engine could do with modern direct injection.

Ive had a couple cars in 10 years. LT1 cars, NA Miata, NB Miata 10 AE, Porsche Cayman S, 2003 S2000. Fast? It's not blazing nor does it have the engine behind your ear, in the cabin, like the Cayman S, however it does have girls question how I change the radio station, and screaming when it's 6k RPM and above. Road & Track magazine claim 0-60 in 4.9, in the sibling NSX vs. S2000 test. It truly is a fun car, and reliable. Besides for the window motor regulators that fell through the door as I pulled up to vallet, $18,500 for a 35,000 mile pristine example is a no-brainer. Taco Bell? They ask what it is. Gas station? Always compliments. I tell girls I drive a 14 year old Honda. When I pick them up they call me humble. Overall, after it's paid off I'll have 60k miles and will be able to have an asset of $15k. i think of it as a savings account. You do the same. Now is the time to buy.

Everyone is complaining about the rattle noise. Chill alright, it's not no rods bearing, shift bearing, exhaust bearing or whatever you guys assumed it is. It's the Chain Tensioner, I just replaced mine and it sounds exactly how it is between 7.5-9rpms. It’s funny to think and know that only a handful of the cars you review can keep up with this s2000 on a back road.

If it revs 9000 rpm, would it sound like a CBR 600 with a exhaust pipe?

*digital speedometer...* nowadays there are cars that cost 500k and they don't have that, so imagine that in the 2000s, honda was really ahead of its time

Looking at the rev counter it looks like he double clutches... Which seems a bit pointless on a drag run like this... But I guess he went for that authentic Fast n tha Furious effect
