Honda Super Cub. Or is it? Did I Get Scammed?

In this video, I tell the tale of what was supposed to be the next new bike for the channel, a Honda Super Cub. It was a purchase from a well known auction site and things didn't turn out what it first appeared to be. Join me as I waffle on and dish the detail on this epic story of doom and disappointment.

Hello all, Just a quick note to say that I would like to make known that the seller to me was an absolute gentleman. Once aware of the situation, he refunded me in full without hesitation. We are on good terms and I will be helping him with his task of recovering his costs with this scooter. Enjoy the video and best regards Simon.

Could've ended up a proper nightmare that bike. I'm a fan of the smaller cc bikes too, i just bought myself a 2022 Honda CB125F. Have you looked at maybe the earlier CG125 around 2007 if you wanted an older 125 bike thats still very good to ride.

What a can of worms! Well done you for your diligence, perseverance and honesty. Thank goodness you've got your money back. Now back to the search for that elusive little Cub of your dreams.

@@scootyman2974 After binge watching your videos on the Vision restore I purchased one from my local Honda dealer due for delivery 31/03/2022. That was pushed back to May 😡 So had a change and got a SH125 which is due for delivery on 07/04/2022 🤞🏼 Would like to know your thoughts on them but it’s just a work commuter. Best Wishes Paul

They are a great scooter Paul. Bigger instance than the Vision. A friend at work has just taken delivery of a brand new SH and he absolutely loves it. I’m sure you’ll be happy with it and it’ll be worth the wait till the 7th. Enjoy and best regards Simon

£1000 + £240 transport cost is a high price for an old SuperCub, a modern S/H 2019 125cc SuperCub, returning 180 mpg, 4 gears, disc-brake (front-wheel) LED lighting might be yours with a budget of £2250 to £2500. The 2019 rides very nicely, I hyave one, many improvements over the old C70 SuperCub I used to own

oh man that sucks yeah i could see straight away thas not a classic cub but only cause i have one to the unsuspecting that would catch anyone out. i hope you get the money back

If you watch the video to the end I explain what happens with the money. Full refund plus costs 👍 I knew it wasn’t a traditional Super Cub. They have now returned to the old design and once again, they build them in Japan 🇯🇵 Thanks for your comments and best regards

Also, as you are now the owner of a 1985 cub V5 it may be possible to buy a new frame legally get it stamped at a motorcycle dealer , again talk to DVLA for more information on this.

Thanks for that Richard. The Scooter has now returned to the original seller. We couldn’t come to a deal on price for me to keep the bike ‘as is’ as it owed too much to him. Best regards Simon

How about getting a wee honda sh125i 2021, I would to see good video's of people working on him in English 😂😂😂 And me and my big brother got one, I've only done 220 miles on it, they are brilliant bikes /scooter, I got it on February, Going a run to Ayr(well Dunure) today 37 miles away fae me and my brother, Maybe a wee bit cold, but it is Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿, Part of the uk 🇬🇧 🙂 Kind Regards Fae me, James 🙂

Not sure if that actually is classed as a cloned bike but more like a re framed bike that would be given a Q plate after an inspection.

That’s a good point Richard. I spoke to the DVLA at length and they said it might be dealt with by Kits & Rebuilds dept. They also said it would need an age certificate but if not then Q plate might be an option. However, in this case you can clearly see it’s been done without authorisation and someone has most definitely tried to cover the original identity. Thanks for your comments

@@scootyman2974 yes age verification certificate would be good but the approved certifiers probably would struggle to find a exact year for it but you would get a Q plate fairly quickly and easily. As they say, you live and learn.

just looking at head light front turn signals looks to modern for c reg dad had one 85 b plate different shape it may be a china clone made to look honda to get more money.

Correct about the age thing and how it looks. It is actually a Honda SuperCub made around 2011-2014 I think. It was a modern take on the older design. It shares parts with the Cross Cub and sold well in Russia and Turkey amongst other countries. Sadly, it never made it to the U.K. Thanks for your comments
