Ride along with us as we talk through the Transalp's strengths... and weaknesses. Is this the new benchmark for road biased adventure bikes in the 600-800cc segment? Even with a couple of frustrating details, we think it might be.

I think as the same as some reviewers have suggest that Honda did not upgrade the suspension or add cruise control to keep the price down and so they can still sell Africa Twins. That colour looks good with the silver skidplate, lower crash bars and muffler cover. 👍 It only comes in the matte black for 2024 where I am. Honda why a matte paint that cannot be polished or waxed? Leave the music off at the start when you are talking please. If you use only the kill switch but not the key you do not have to reset she Traction Control. Seats on bikes change and often get better over time.

No cruise as an option makes no sense as all the hardware is there. I know Mccruise in Victoria are looking at a cruise control for it though

Cheers Allen - Depends if you like doing plenty of maintenance on an old bike..? No contest for me. The new one will be better in every way I can think of, and will not need a heap of ongoing maintenance.

Great video and riding.......your pretty fast I think to most people who will buy this bike. I had 2 ATs and loved the power,handling and just a fun bike to ride. But a bit too heavy for me doing the BDR thing. Tried a T7 and did all pretty much but just kinda bland. Just not that exciting for me. I got a Transalp on order here in the US hope its closer to the unicorn bike I keep looking for.....

If you added the usual mods and accessories to both the Transalp and T7 including revalving the suspension, how much behind the T7 would the Transalp be for offroad focussed adventure riding? On paper they would appear close
@Vicko026
@Vicko026 10 ай бұрын
The T7 has a fair head-start at this point in terms of aftermarket options. But Honda didn't really make it to go head to head as such with the T7. A full on off road build would be an interesting thing though. You'd have to get the suspension fiddled with and it first up and see what's possible.

So stupid having to do that dance for traction control. Was in my shortlist until I found out how annoying traction control is to turn off
@Vicko026
@Vicko026 10 ай бұрын
Depends how you're going to ride it too I guess. If you're not stopping and starting and getting off to take pics and dick around it's probably less annoying...

You can just stall the engine if you're stopping for short periods of time.

Hello! I'm based in India. Looking to upgrade from my KTM 390 to a bigger (more reliable) bike for occasional city duties and mostly for long distance touring (lightly loaded or sometimes 2 up) through big bumps and pot-holes, tarmac and dirt track no-roads, busy traffic and whatever else the journey throws at you. New Transalp XL 750: + Light, Nimble, Fast, Reliable, VFM Maintainance, Cool Engine, 5 Year Warranty - Limited Ground Clearance, Basic Suspension, Tubed Tires Used Triumph Tiger 900 RP: (2001 - 5K Kms - Loaded Accesories) + All Round Champ, Creature Comforts, Top-notch Fit and Components, Built for the Beating, Terrific Suspension and GC - Higher Spares/Maintainance, Iffy Electronics Reliability and Heating in Traffic🔥🥵 are the Primary Concerns holding me back! Awaiting your suggestion... P.S. Riding Style: Hooligan'ish

Transalp wont feel as big a step as the Tiger but the Tiger will feel much rmore comfortable - especially with a pillion. Tiger more capable off road, just heavier. And my 800XC has 280,000 kms on it if that puts any reliability issues to bed...

I've had to replace the right hand switch block in the last month or so - I literally wore out the starter button. Not sure what you mean about the radiator. Its been ridden on plenty of 40 plus celsius days and is no worse than any other bike in that regard that Ive noticed.@@2-WheelsMoveTheSoul

Which one has better off-road handling, Tuareq 660 or Transalp ?

Not even a competition there. Tuareg is the class leader off-road by a long way.

The vsrom 800de is a much better bike for the money.. but the time you fix the suspension and the cost is more than the vsrom and still have far less ground clearance
@Vicko026

The 800DE with superior suspension, better torque, better fuel deliver, larger fuel capacity, and standard quick shifter is the better choice for ADV riding. Even though the 800DE is heavier, it is lighter to pick up.

Enjoyed the video. However I think you’ve underplayed your obvious talent riding motorcycles especially off road and overestimated probably 90% of the people who actuallly buy this bike. If I tried to ride that track like you I’d be in hospital and the bike would be knackered. Honda has to pitch the bike at an average ability and if some donut left the traction off and another rider jumped on not knowing and gave it a hand full they may end up in the hedge!
