Thanks! Easy, and in working order. I did a double take when I saw the instruction to dip the filter in oil, but it's right there in the manual. What am I going to do? Argue with Honda?

Thanks for the assistance, I've recently been having a problem with my Honda Gx35 where it would fight to start, it would run but it sounds strained, and when I pull the trigger it would sputter out and die, I don't know if the filter was the problem but cleaning it got it to run longer much more smoothly.

@@5MinuteFixit yes sir, thanks for making the video! Also would you happen to have anything on what to check when the weedwacker turns off when the moment I apply pressure to the trigger? It speeds up, then sputters out.

With the GX35, it can be a fuel problem, where basically the filter on the fuel intake pipe (inside the tank) gets clogged, and produces exactly what you described. Sometimes the pipe also falls off and into the tank... Also the two nuts that bolt the intake manifold to the engine also put pressure on a gasket that wears out and stops sealing if you loosen those nuts even once. Other than that, the GX35 is rock solid 4-stroke.

can ask you if you change oil it how many working hours before you replace the engine oil

I use my Honda GX35 on an ice auger in the winter. Would you advise storing over the summer months with the fuel tank and carb empty or fuel or with fuel and stabalizer?

Why do you need to soak the filter in motor oil?

That’s is what Honda recommends and it helps catch and hold any small dust particles from entering the engine/combustion chamber.

why the filter needs oil?..for effective filtration? does it affects the carburator?

MrKbx24 it needs the oil for effective filtration...it doesn’t affect the carburetor as long as you squeeze off the excess. Thank you for watching!

No machine whatsoever requires the sponge filter to be soak in engine oil then wringed out this sponge should be washed with mild soapy water then rinse out and air dry then place back on the filter housing of your trimmer, chainsaw, or any machine that has a small engine.

This is the most ridiculous video I've seen those sponge filter should be clean and once the engine suction air that mixes with fuel whatever debris are stopped by sponge filter also any dust or soil particles this in the long run will cause the filter to get clogged as oil and dirt don't mix.

You also proved why you should put oil on the filter by saying the filter will clog with dirt which is exactly why you have a filter to keep the dirt and debris out of the engine.

great video mate. I was looking at this question about oiling the airfilter, as I have the ums425u honda, and its manual looks very old and did not state anything about oiling the filter which is quite prevalent in most honda air filter replacements on youtube., So I read your BC manual, and will apply a little oil to it instead of leaving it dry.@@5MinuteFixit
