Over 2000 years ago the Mayans built a brilliant civilization; a civilization of massive stone pyramids and beautiful carved sculptures of worship. Over the course of centuries it grew into one of antiquity's most advanced cultures. Between the years 300 and 900 of the Common Era, the Mayan civilization boasted hundreds of cities across North and Central America, spreading throughout modern day Belize, Guatemala, El Salvador, Mexico, and Honduras, extending 700 miles from Chichen Itza in northern Yucatan to the southernmost city of Copan.
