I hope you are encouraged and feel seen by this video; you are not the only one who struggles to feel motivated to read the Bible, or even be consistent in it. You are not a "bad Christian". I hope this video is able to show you the love Christ has for you, and that the three journaling prompts can help you get back in the swing of things!
Blessings,

Something that really shifted my mindset was the humbling reality that it is not just something we "should do" but that we NEED it! We NEED Jesus! To go about being in the Word and prayer to our life source as something we will get to when we feel like it, diminishes the value that this is the ultimate authority of our lives and that God is the Redeemer of our souls that were going to hell if He did not show us grace. John Piper really helped me understand this when he said if you have to choose between eating and the Word, you choose the Word. Prioritizing the Word took a huge heart shift and reality check that is a continual practice of dying to my pride that says it can wait. Thank you Taylor always for being so real and honest! You and your family are such an encouragement!

I found it helped me to start every day with at least 2 verses. The first thing you do for the day so you essentially have God first in your life. Remembering to start the day with God's word. Once you make it a habit you sort of do it every day naturally. Subscribing to things like "verse of the day" in your email. So when you wake up you can start the day with 2 verses and perhaps some commentary. Then pray for that day to do God's will.

This is exactly what I needed to hear. I have had so much guilt about not prioritizing my Bible study time. I feel like my brain is just so cluttered, I’m in a really busy season of life and I keep thinking “I’ll get to it later” and then later comes and goes. So I’m thinking I might adjust and do early morning studies. This was such a great reminder, thank you for sharing. It’s a weird guilty shame thing that makes you feel alone but hopefully we can all grow together and get in the Word consistently. ❤❤

Thanks for sharing this! This is a struggle I've been walking through lately. With all honesty, I think this feeling of not doing enough can also come from how we as the body explain the process of sanctification. I don't say this to condemn us, but to rather bring to our attention that we may be unconsciously pushing ourselves and others to be disciplined and consistent to a point where we are not relying on the Lord to strengthen us to do so, but rather ourselves. I've done it to myself and to others and my perspective has changed within this past year. Let's exhort one another on this walk. Thank you again Taylor ❤

and I could never understand that. I WANT to read it (and do), but I hear all the time 'read it even if you don't feel like it.' If you don't feel like it, it means you're not getting anything out of it. I get stuff out it lots of times, but if you don't feel like reading it and you're not getting a thing out of it, what's the point?

@@KristaBrewer-rq7mo Hi! In my personal experience, I've had many instances where I didn't want to read my bible. Sometimes due to tiredness or discouragement in my day. However, I remembered that God's Word is spiritual food. So when I don't feel like it, I still open my bible and ask the Lord to help me receive His Word. By the end, my perspective and feeling has changed. I hope this was helpful!

@@letitslime1653 Yeah, when I read that, it came back to me the analogy that Kaci Nicole used in a few of her videos. She parallelled it with physical food, saying that you're not gonna get a great, glorious meal every day, sometimes it might only be a peanut butter sandwich, but at least it was SOMETHING! Her point was if you don't have ANYTHING to eat, you will surely feel the effects of it. I still don't see the point of reading if you're not getting a thing out of it, but I get her analogy too.

I'm not trying to sound boastful or anything, just giving you tips on what I do. I keep my bible in front of my bed on my desk. NEVER on a bookshelf. But on my desk. When I wake up the first thing I see when I open my eyes is my bible. That's the way I stay motivated and on track to reading the word every morning. Are there times where I don't feel like it? Of course, but I do it anyway cause I know if I don't, it's like brushing your teeth in the morning, you don't think about it you just do it

1. Do you have a mental block (doubts, confusion, overwhelmness? to reading your bible? If so, what is it? 2. If Jesus could speak to you right now about your mental block, what would He tell you? Remember Christ speaks truth and love 3. What you used to excite you about bible reading? What do you think you can take from your old routines that worked and implement it now?

I have definitely struggled with consistency and disciplining myself. I think some of it has to do with my ADD which I’m still debating on whether I should get back on meds for it and then also a part of it is having those feelings of shamefulness or doubts about myself. I do feel at times that what I do is not enough for the Lord or that I hope I don’t disappoint him from my sins. I pray that i’m doing enough for Him even though I am imperfect. I have been praying though for God to help me to stay disciplined with my bible studies. I am trying to make it a habit of doing bible study time every morning or at least 10-15 min of my day dedicated to bible study. You are helping with that. So thank you so much! :) ❤

Taylor, I have watched this several times and this time it finally dawned on me that some of these mental blocks might be caused by judgement from others. We know the sins we have committed, we are ashamed and now think “what do others think of me for prioritizing this time with my Father”. Sometimes I think we feel like imposters based on the judgement of others around us unfortunately.

Hi Taylor, thank you so much for the video! This is one thing I've been dealing with for a while and came to the same conclusion, that it's not about the works that I do but God's love is unconditional and He gives me grace all the time when I don't deserve it and it gave me so much freedom again to read the Bible with a fresh attitude and motivation... Just saying that it is so relatable and I want to encourage you to continue to follow the Lord and get to know Him, thank you for the encouragement you shared with me and the love for God that you shine ❤️ God bless you

I've struggled on and off with consistency in my Bible reading. Now that I have the book that I got for Christmas, The Bible in 52 Weeks by Dr. Moore, I've been doing much better. Going to my Bible study at church once a week helps too. Anything to keep us on track when there are so many distractions these days. I enjoyed your vlog today because discouragement is a big part of guilt when I don't stay on track. Thank you for your thoughts today Taylor! I'm praying this will help at least one person... 1) In 1982 at age 13 I became born again, started attending a Bible church with great youth group. 2) attended Colorado Christian University starting in 1987 at age 18 3) from 1982-1991 (gradual at first) became more and more convinced God was disappointed with me because of one thing: not having a quiet time consistently 4) my precious God/Lord and Savior turned into a Swivel Chair god. He only looked upon me once I confessed all of my sin, known and "unknown". I was very depressed. 5) In June of 1991 I became set free of this entire issue and have never gone back to that bondage! If anyone wants to know how God did this in my life don't hesitate to ask! BTW.... this all started with my failure to have quiet times consistently. To me, that was the greatest sin in my life. Ughhhh how satan is a deceiver.

1dc25.... Sorry for delay! Well, the ways that God helped me was 2 things: first, He used a couple of different ministries with excellent teaching on the complete forgiveness of God, which totally opened my eyes to the fact that He is nor ever was on a swivel chair (disappointed and having His back to me when I sinned and/didn't have my sins confessed, aka "short accounts with God" mentality). This was so freeing to me that it felt like I was let out of prison. Yes, even as Christians we can feel like we are in prison. The 2nd thing that tremendously helped me was simply closing my Bible and NOT opening it again for a while. I didn't have a set length of time for this (and it was 1991 so a long time ago!!) but I just knew I needed to have a break with the self imposed rule of reading my Bible daily. I felt free enough with the Lord to do this with no fear of never reading it again. I knew I would! But I knew that when I did again, it would be a true desire rather than a duty. Since then I have never put rules upon myself for this. Any time I start feeling guilty of not being in the Word enough, I know it's the enemy trying to heap on the guilt again. I just talk to Lord about it and the Holy Spirit sweetly reminds me that God is not sitting there looking at a calendar wondering when I'm going to open my Bible. Well, I hope that can help you! Let the Holy Spirit direct you! ❤️

As a women youre breaking the law of jesus 1 Timothy 2:11-15 New International Version 11 A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. 12 I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man; she must be quiet. 13 For Adam was formed first, then Eve. 14 And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner. 15 But women will be saved through childbearing-if they continue in faith, love and holiness with propriety. Secondly your not even wearing a veil on the head like mary 1 Corinthians 11:6 New International Version For if a woman does not cover her head, she might as well have her hair cut off; but if it is a disgrace for a woman to have her hair cut off or her head shaved, then she should cover her head. 48. Matthew 5:17 (“Do not think that I have come to abolish Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.”).
