I played in a large D&D group quite a few years ago. About a dozen of us got together every Sunday from noon until about 10pm. 5 members of the group were girls. DMing a regular party is hard enough. Girls bring an entirely new kind of chaos to your gaming session. As frustrating as they were at the time, I wouldn't trade the experience for anything.

In media, I'm always "MAKE THEM SMOOCH!", I knocked boots with every possible option in my playthrough before settling down to a monogamous relationship with Karlach. It would have been nice though if the game wasn't so anti AroAce it openly mocks you if you don't bump uglies with a party member on the regular.

I'm also doing a no romance playthrough. At a good table, yes, it’s pretty accurate. And as long as you all agree on the tone/style of the game, it will last longer. If you’ve got that one guy who wants it to be an episode of Rick and Morty, while another wants deep and meaningful role play, someone it going to get pissed off.

Or if one player wants LOTR-like campaign, and another wants fantasy Guardians of the Galaxy

Just like the others have said, it's the group, but a good portion falls on the DM. Your group could've had session after session and then gets a DM change thst ruins it. I've been part of 4 groups that have had the many flavors of dnd dismissal. DM sucked, the many *many* flavors of "that guy", and the all too unfortunate life changing monkey wrench... "That guy" isn't limited to: bringing a romantic intrest into tonight's campaign, playing the bard with the intent to bed all npcs, the "why aren't you larping?", *the spellcasters looking up their spells not in a convenient place* , and my personal favorite... that guy who can't keep fiction from reality nor seperate the session(s) from your day to day.

If you get a good group and a great DM it's incredible. Roll20 and tabletop simulator with D&D mods make remote play a pretty engaging experience when combined with discord and such as well. I run my groups over a few beers on the weekends with almost exclusively homebrew content, because I know my players are going to go off the rails and force me to warp the plan to fit their insanity. As others mentioned you absolutely must make sure that your party agrees on a setting, otherwise people can get salty and quit.

I've found that physical dice hate me more than the game. I'm known to turn dice "cold" just by rolling them once. I've had GMs have me roll stat arrays three times because of how bad I was rolling, just to have them roll me one themself so that we're not sitting around until we've run out of time. I've even stopped making "cool" or "fun" characters because they're all fated to be completely incompetent due to the fact that I've somehow angered the dice gods. And the one to three nat 20s of the session are almost always going to be something like initiative.

I crit failed my first three roles when in the tutorial stage. And this time...there is no dice jail...

The eye is great for act 1 if you can get it before fighting [REDACTED] in the swamp, and almost necessary for fighting a lot of enemies in the Shadow-Cursed Lands during act 2.

I went through that whole sequence thinking you would just die and I would reload. But then I got an awesome magic eye so I stuck with it.

This right here. I'm doing a bard playthrough (because bards are my thing in like every game) and I've been able to avoid SO many stupid fights, talked my way into and out of so many situations, and conviced FOUR bosses to unalive themselves so I didn't have to.

I have a friends campaign game i am playing, a single player game a monk and a single player game as a rogue. Haven't even made it out of the first act in like 50+ hours with my three characters. I am trying to make completely different choices all the time and change out my heroes all the time. In addition, after i beat the game I will definetly want a playthrough as a complete and utter asshole where i kill everything. LOL

I finished my first playthrough last weekend. Over roughly 120 hours I encountered about 3-4 small bugs, some annoying, but none game-breaking. Three times a conversation got stuck. For a game this large that's not bad.

Act3 is a significant drop in quality in every aspect of the game. Seems like a lot of content was cut. Hopefully it will be released again in a later patch.

Act 3 is the longest at 30+ hours, let's not pretend like the act is rushed.@@nesciusplayground

I'm deep in act3 and I haven't had any major bugs, a couple one here and there but nothing that stopped my progression in any way and can't be brushed by "oh that's a bug ig lol"

Found a game-breaking bug in the Shar trials. I went full sneak archer with Astarion at one point (turn-based and stealth) killing guardians. They couldn't detect me. Then the game locked in a loop with all enemies showing, "-21 Initiative". Apparently, they were disappointed with me choosing to go sneak archer. xD (Yes, I reported it to Larian).

Thought I almost had one - my tav died on some stairs and it kept saying "target blocked" when I tried using revivify. So I went to withers and there was no option to revive tav. Luckily, found on a forum that you can quickaave, reload a save where tav is alive, then load that new quicksave and that worked.

Solasta: Crown of the Magister is also a solid D&D game and it's been out for a few years. It's based on the 5e SRD (basic rules) and is a more accurate representation of the tabletop game mechanics than BG3.

I got to play the table top ounce and it made monopoly look like chutes n ladders in comparison to how long combat took A session is 8 hours _average_ The video game format is superior because it speeds all of that the frick up Roll initiative, roll attack... roll damage roll modifier to ac... 5 dice rolls just to see if I landed a hit

They will not hire more people or give the time to properly develop, it will be just more crunch....That is what critics of the "new standard" approach fear. There are very few visual bugs. There may be some logic bugs, but they are indeed very rare.

Whats funny is that Bioware is the AAA dev that is absolutely not going to dodge the comparison with bg3. Its a sequel to a series of games they made, with all the qualities that they are known for (romance, party members, reactivity, worldbuilding...) ME 4 and Da4 have big shoes to fill, as if they were not big enough already.

Bioware did make BG1 and BG2.

Quite a few people championing the game haven't finished it. That's not rare, honestly its an indication of how much fun they're having. T could get bad later, it could get better later, but right now I'm enjoying myself.

Bugs are technical issues that just happen, and can be fixed. What makes this game so special is, that you can really experience how much love and care was put into the game in every aspect of the game - be it characters, story, music, gameplay - they really tried making it into the best game they could. THAT is something truly missing in most games these days and THATs why BG3 and some other games stand out so much from the crowd. BG3 was made with passion while AAA Gaming usually is made to simply make as much money as they possibly can first and everything else is secondary.

To be fair, the bear is a druid, and you should see him when he's not in Wild Shape mode.

@@susakuzero All of my "bugs" were hardware related. My power supply just couldn't take it on day one with max graphics (which the game auto loads with because my graphics card is better than my power supply). So, the first day, I got maybe 15 minutes in with me saving like a paranoid lunatic. It's not bootlicking for everyone. A lot of people didn't get to play until a lot of the bugs were patched, and that was on day 2 after release. OP also didn't say it was bug-free, just that they hadn't experienced a bug, yet. Since the first day and the constant system crashes, it's been fairly smooth sailing, as soon as I figured that it was my power supply that was the problem. Haven't noticed any really glaring bugs at all. Just some crashes when my system doesn't like the graphics setting combined with the particle effects, and has a seizure. For a 5-year old system that was made with mostly spare parts, I'll take it.

There's been a lot of major bugs mostly around act 3 that I've noticed, and only some minor graphical slowdown in act 2 that, as of patch 4, has mostly been rectified.

Something being fun with friends isn't much of praise. I can watch paint dry with my friends and have fun.

BG3 definitely killed my hype for Starfield. I am sure its going to feel like a downgrade. I think I will play the Cyberpunk expansion as a pallet cleanser.

Astarion need to be killed on sight it's the only right thing to do, same applies for all act 1 "companions" (except maybe Karlach). Only party members I didn't actively dislike were Karlach, a certain druid and a certain Ranger - although the druid got close in act 3.

Yeah this is a far cry from say Skyrim where the main quest could legit break and you needed a mod to get Esbern out of his house.

Act 1 is near flawless, Act 2 is in great shape, but Act 3 needs a patch.

Yeah, a very weird opening line about BG3. Opposite of the truth. This review was funny, as was the point, but far too negative for what is obviously one of the best games ever made.

If you didn't encounter bugs you were lucky as all hell or skipped 90% of the content (in act 3, act 1 and 2 only had slight bugs like gaining 1 point of charisma every time I loaded a save or being permanently encumbered or items disappearing. Although my main issues with the game aren't the bugs, those I expect in any big RPG, but rather the extremely weird design choices with skill checks, party interface, camp system, UI, QOL and plot.

I just leave my inventory a mess because I don't want to organize it.

Yeah, comparing this to Fallout 76 or Skyrim bug wise is a capital sin.

Totally, I'm playing Stray and had to wonder about for ~20 mins to trigger a checkpoint/autosave so I could quit the game and not loose my last hour of progress. I'd much prefer manual and auto save options for all games to get the best experience.

Best Dialoges comes when you play Bard. Also never challenge a semi God with what you gonna do strike me down where i stand.

Act 1 is polished and act 2 is pretty good. Act 3 has some problems (dialog loops and steel watch agro bug) but honestly mostly terrible framerate performance that hurts in act 3. Visual glitches in a game this scale is pretty forgivable at this stage of release.

@@ccibinel The frame rate issue is a CPU issue caused by the Reactive NPC option. Either turn down the NPC spawn distance to Medium or untick Reactive NPCs in the Graphics Options menu and it performs perfectly. There's a patch coming for it soon.

If you want to see the whole place totally lose their minds, try walking down the street with your entire party naked, one being a drow, one being a Tiefling, one being a Githyanki with a summoned elemental and a summoned Cambion.@@ccibinel

Love the Game but Act 3 is also sadly where the Cut Content lack of polishing and overall problems show. Sadly without to go to much into Spoilers there dare quite a few Characters both Party and recuring NPCs which Story seems unfinished including in Baldurs Gate itself a whole part of the City since the Upper City is not in the Game even though its highly teased.

@@susakuzero I have faith that this is something Larian will fix, judging off how they handled their other games. I do believe the cut content will be back after they've done fixes.

But my point is actualy that after i read a bit in Larians offical Forum Reddit and KZfaq Coments i can again only roll my Eyes when dumb Fanboys try to Act like everything is fine and amazing and there are no problems. Also its pretty dumb to attack other Companys and claimung that Larian is so much better even though there are still a ton of problems and similar things while People ignore that there are always different circumstances.

@@susakuzero Yeah, a message board I frequent posted a topic listing out all the confirmed cut content, and it was a pretty big list that included a number of storylines, so those stories just end up fizzling out or going with an ending that doesn't really apply to what you did in the campaign. Like apparently there's no way to get Karlach's "good" ending, all the endings to her story are one version or another of a "failed" state regarding her engine. And on that note that's apparently where all the bugs come from as well: characters trying to move onto an event that no longer exists so the quest just bugs out. But going along what freudian said: my understanding about Larian (this is my first game of theirs) is that they'll eventually put out a "Definitive Edition" that cleans up all the bugs and such. I'll be looking forward to that when/if it comes.
