Most couples don’t have the luxury of having both parents home full time. Usually one has to go back to work and the other is home with 100% of the care or both have to go back to work. Your situation is not what most people experience. ♥️

Be mindful that they don’t have the option of corporate maternity leave or paternal leave or other employer benefits other parents might get. They are already back to work four weeks postpartum! Thank you Julia and Hunter !!!!

One hundred 💯 We started our business the same year we had our first and our first was a fussy baby. He didn’t sleep through the night for the first year waking every three hours.had reflux and would cry all day long! It was the hardest time ever! My husband was working hard at getting us up and running with our business. Our second baby came along after three years and was a totally different temperament a real cruiser! The lack of sleep if you have a wakeful baby is a slow torture. Glad they are having a good time of it though!😊 Ours are 20 and eighteen now I still remember how hard it was!😅

Kudos to you both. You had a life plan. You got your education, you got married. You had careers. You travelled to many places. Then you felt you were ready to be parents. The fact that you work together and from home was part of the plan. You have a beautiful dynamic. As a social worker for 37 years I see this a something beautiful. You were ready to be parents and Smoke will feel your love as you are boh there to care for him. The fact that parenthood is so natural for you both is not a surprise to me as everything you do together has been successful. I wish you every blessing. I know Smoke will grow up in a happy home surrounded by love. God bless❤ Your parents must be very proud of you both. ❤❤❤

I’ve tuned into you guys for the last couple of years back when you were in Texas. My adult kids laugh at me when I share something about “Julia and Hunter!” 😂. I tell them I’m invested in this young couple as if your were my next door neighbors. You’re such a great example of what a marriage should be.

This really makes me think about parenting in a bit of a broader spectrum specifically when Julia said it bonds you to humanity…it’s so true! My husband and I had our boys so young that I never sat back and really thought about it. Obviously I see it and experience it but didn’t put much thought into that aspect. It truly is something you don’t know until you have a baby. Being a young mom I lost a few friends because as one of them said I’ll I ever talked about was my kids. I thought about it and it made me sad. I don’t talk about them because they’re all I have I talk about them because they are everything to me haha that just doesn’t sound different to non parents! Really loving your guys evolution 💗 been watching you guys for so long and it’s nice to see you guys grow 💗

It’s wonderful that you both are having a great postpartum period but the reality is, most times it is not like that. There are many women who develop post partum depression and anxiety and who can’t immediately connect with their babies and watching a video like this can be detrimental. This is a reminder for all the viewers watching - don’t feel bad or less if your experience has been completely different. If your baby does not sleep through the night yet , he or she is not broken. These are literal babies we are talking about. Just wanted to put it out there for those who also don’t have children and think this is the norm. Much love ❤

That doesn’t give them any less of a right to share their experience. As a married woman in my late 20s with no children I think there are more videos on social media that make parenthood sound awful and plenty of people in real life saying things like “your life will be over, you’ll never sleep again” etc.. I think sharing a positive experience is helpful too.

The way you both describe “being ready” for a baby really hits home for me. My husband and I have been together since we were 15, got married at 23 and were now 28 going to be 29. We say all the time to our family who doesn’t get it, it’s not that we don’t want a baby or that we couldn’t handle a baby, I’m just not desiring one at this very moment. And that does not come from a place of being harsh or ungrateful for the future, it’s just the biggest responsibility in life you’ll ever take on. Parenting looks so healthy and beautiful on both of you 💛
@cydneybradley2518

This is a great example of what parenting can look like when you’re actually ready to be parents. Your perspective of having a child, even carrying a child, can be so positive when you make the conscious decision to want to become parents and start trying! Now I’m not saying that the opposite isn’t impossible but I’m sure it’s more likely to have a positive parenting experience.

I love that the feeding schedule is working for you guys! I just want to say though, we did this with our baby and he still woke up every 2-3 hours around the clock for a long time. I think the majority of it is the temperament of your baby and their own sleep needs! Just wanted to point this out bc as a first time mom I was thinking I was doing something wrong bc my baby was waking but its totally normal for them to wake up at night even through the first year.

Julia, as a Ob/Gyn nurse, girl, you look fabulous!! You both are very attentive to baby and it’s a very nice thing to see that both Mom and Dad are playing their parts. What you don’t realize now is that these times are the most crucial in a child’s life. It sets the stage for the rest of their life. It lays the foundation if you will. Any child psychiatrist will tell you that. So, know your doing a great job!! Cherish every moment, every cuddle, all the baby smells because they grow up fast. Next thing you know they are graduating vet school and becoming a firefighter/EMT right under your nose. But that’s when you know you’ve done good and right by your children! Keep up the good work! He’s adorable just like his mom and dad!! ❤

I think the perfect explanation about when is the right time for having a baby is “you’ll never be fully prepared for a baby, but there IS a point when you feel ready to have one.” It’s not that you’ll never feel ready for a baby.. it’s more so that you’ll never be fully prepared for what a baby entails. You get what I mean! It’s completely trial and error. And no words can express the magic surrounding birth/parenthood

You guys make a great team. I think it makes a big difference you both work from home and have flexible schedules. I can imagine it's harder when one person is home all day doing all of the care taking, while the other person is working outside of the home and is gone all day. That can take toll on the person who is doing all of the care taking. You guys have the luxury of sleeping in or taking a nap if needed ... makes a huge difference. Lots of Mom's can't leave the house to go to the gym or get their hair or nails done because they have no one to watch their baby. You definitely have the perfect setup. You have worked hard and planned well!

I’m going to say something different here for anyone in the comments who has watched and is wondering why this wasn’t their experience. Waking once a night versus 2-3 times which is most common, is such a huge factor in having an easier and more positive introduction to parenting (amongst many other things). Sleep deprivation tests the best of couples and it can make it hard to see only beauty in this phase. Please know becoming a parent isn’t all happy, it’s real. Hunter and Julia, what a blessing it is that this has been your experience. If only it were like that for more new parents!

My advice for breastfeeding would be to find a way to get him latched don’t give up and then just lay on your side and feed . Don’t pump too much just a little back up is fine don’t overwork your body pumping all the time. Also once you get the hand of breastfeeding then you won’t have to pump as much and add work to your life I.e feeding after pumping , cleaning bottles and breast pump parts . It will be so much easier to just get him in the breast and be done nothing to clean and not taking time to feed . One stop shop . May the force be with you .

Yes to this! Once I got in the groove it was so simple and easy! Nothing to clean, carry with me, or warm up! Especially on flights/traveling it was so simple to just breast feed and be on the go 🫶🏻

While I haven’t ever had an infant. I did adopt at the toddler age and it’s been amazing. Seriously I had the easiest time. My sons now 10 and one of the best kids. We never had terrible 2s potty training was so easy and he’s just so cool lol. I’ve loved watching y’all become parents. Especially loved watching the pregnancy journey. I was pregnant in October and had an ectopic so lost it at 8 weeks and knowing how close Julia and I would of been during it all some how brought me so much comfort in watching y’all go through it. Congratulations. You both are doing a wonderful Job!

All people ask what stage is the hardest… let me just say every stage has its difficulties just different things! Once newborn over you’ll see it was the easiest ❤ boys are easier than girls as teens that’s all I know from my experience ❤

I TOTALLY agree when Hunter said the positive is that nothing is an annoyance if they cry you want to be there. But I also just want to add of course you guys know every baby is different and so far he seems to be such an easy baby which is such a blessing. I commented on the last video of How my son woke up 5-6 times a night and now another comment is that not only did he not sleep good but he cried non stop, and that's not an exaggeration I did EVERYTHING , the baths with AT the time Johnson's and Johnson's was what ppl used but lavender baths , the milacon drops, feeding him, rocking him, white noise sounds. As bad as it is to admit this online when ur a zombie with a non stop crying baby , there was an annoyance/feeling like a shitty mom feeling. I just could not understand what was going on and the crying after AWHILE became frustrating and I'm just being totally honest. It's was rough 😢 anyway back to the show lol

OMG, am I crazy or do I notice like Smoke is already growing! I know it's been a month already but he's already changing by the day. My No. 1 advice to you guys is: enjoy, enjoy, enjoy every minute, because they grow so fast in front of your very eyes! And, Julia, I see what you mean: Hunter is such a wonderful, full, hands-on dad!

Smokey is thee sweetest... Glad you are feeling great as new parents. I will say age is not as much of a factor as being financially stable and also understanding that Juj and Hunter both work from home and are entrepreneurs. Its very hard when you have a 9-5 that is not WFH. We love you baby Smoke
