On the IUTV about this video, she explains how it is conected to Through the night, it's beautifuly done. Truly, the fact she never actualy released it amazes me, it's such a beautiful song 🥺

I'm a Korean of 60's. This is a song of my generation. This song was written by a late composer of my generation. IU is communicating with my generation in this way. This is what she is thanked by us.

The hair pin in the MV is the same one as in 'Through the night' (Korean title 'Night Letter'). Mid-career IU is my favorite IU.

IU is a Korean K-pop singer that people like. IU's P.E teacher asked her to sing when she was a student and she sang so well that she went to auditions to become a singer.

it's a actually a cover song! the original writer and singer is a folk singer named kim kwang seok. but iu's always named him as one of her writing and composing inspirations, so it makes sense that the imagery coming to the fore of her music very much reflects a lot of kim kwang seok's work, too, apart from her own personal experiences.

So IU has this album series called “A Flower Bookmark” which are only covers / remakes of old korean songs (you have actually reacted to some songs like Sleepless Rainy Night or My Old Story). She released the first one in 2014 and the second one in 2017. “With The Determined Heart To Forget You” is a song by Kim Kwang-Seok, a very popular singer in the 90s in Korea, however a few years into his career he supposedly commited su****e.

With A Determined Heart to Forget You was supposed to be the title track for A Flower Bookmark 2. However, IU removed it last minute because, at that time, there was some news going on about Kim Kwangseok's daughter's death. IU is a big fan so out of respect, she did what she had to do. All the AFBM2 physical albums were reprinted (is this the right word?) without the song, making Sleepless Rainy Night the title track. It was stressful. A few months later, she released this MV as tribute to the original singer.
