Fun fact: the side shave hadn’t become a trend yet and stylists didn’t want to risk shaving keys hair as it would have taken too long to grow back out for their follow up. Essentially they didn’t want to commit. So they gave him a semi buzz cut and bleached it platinum so it would blend in with his skin thus giving the “side shave” illusion. It wasn’t until Dara from 2ne1 (who actually didn’t want to shave her head) got the side shave that it became a popular trend globally. So technically key did it first but in a “faux hawk” kind of way lol.

This was iconic because it was the first time kpop groups were actually recognized by the public as a proper dance ensemble. Prior to shinee, idols were only entertainers. Sure they all danced at the time, but never as seriously as SHINee in this comeback. They set the bar.

Um I love Shinee but there were HOT, Shinhwa & DBSK(TVXQ) before shinee which are all from SM, there were proper dance ensembles🙂

Oh, it was so nice to see your smiling face - I get what you mean, for me Lucifer is also not a song I would really listen to, but I love watching their live performances of this song and I love watching the dance practice. Also this constantly pulsating rhythm and those harmonies are so addictive, it makes me wanna move my feet to it and bob my head :) Lucifer is really iconic and I absolutely love Taemin’s long hair in this era - especially the ponytail 😍

Lucifer is definitely not the most amazing composition (flat af, you're right) and it's definitely a WALL OF SOUND, but at the same time the extreme sounds and visuals are iconic and I have a lot of love for this song. I found their hair ridiculous at the time (their clothes were definitely in line with the harsh fashion of kpop in the late 2000s, though), but now looking back I actually think that it's perfect for what the song and video is, *especially* Tae and Jjong. I weirdly find myself wishing Onew had something insane going on, too, but I guess his more standard style was meant to be a rest for our 2010-aged eyes LOL.
