So update : they don't need to sing in english, they topped for a third time in 3 month the HOT 100 with Life Goes On. A korean ballad. A korean ballad. The only non-english hits who went #1 are catchy fun songs who went viral bc of some meme. A korean ballad topped the US chart. I don't think we will ever see again a non english ballad do that. Hm and a lot of focus on the single charts. But let's not ignore BTS has now 5 #1 album on the US. And they started topping it in 2018. Let also pointing out that with MOTS7, they went #1 album in 21 countries (the whole top 5, even top 10 of the biggest music markets). No others artists ever topped 21 countries national album charts at the same time with one album. They are the current biggest act in the world no cap. With BE, they charted all the songs in the album (all koreans) in the Hot100. And LGO charting #1 with no radio play at all. First non english song debuting #1. I don't think people realize how insane and historic it is that 7 korean songs ( a language only spoken in one country) entered the HOT100 at once. A whole album. It's funny to see a lot of others stans trying to minimalize theses achievements when last week a quite big established US artist (Selena Gomez) released a spanish single and today the result are here : it debuted at #92. Only #92 for an established US artist. And the reaction was unreal for me. Everybody congratuling her bc it's hard since it's not in english and it didn't have a lot of radio play. But every songs on BE charted higher that that spanish song. Why people can't see how incredible it is ? Theses 7 songs are all in Korean and none got radioplay either, yet it went #1 and others entered top 20, top 50... BTS can sell out any US stadiums and stadiums around the world. Yet often I see people saying this or that US artist is bigger when they never ever play in an US stadium even tho they're from the US. American also think bc an US artist is doing well in the US, it means they're mainstream... I'm sorry but a lot of time, they're unknown in the rest of the world.
