I wish Disney would just try to stop making their animated shows to look like the MCU. What's so good about their animated shows is that they are allowed to use all their heroes. Maybe one day they'll give us a good animated Fantastic Four in the modern age.

The Spectacular Spider-Man was too pure for this world 😭

Peter Parker was a grownup adult with a wife for many many years in the comics. Yes he started as a teenager in highschool but that wasnt what defined his character, its just whats popularly associated with him. If anything defined him it was growth; he was one of few heroes allowed to actually grow up and mature. At least until One More Day pissed it all away because the execs thought being married made Peter unrelateable ...

I felt so bad when Eddie became Venom. He was such a stand up guy and it broke my heart to see him slowy descend into anger and hate. He had to deal with some tough circumstances that make you understand why he became Venom. Still, it doesn't excuse him wanting to ruin Peter's life and endangering innocent people but I wish we could have seen a redemption arc if the show wasn't cancelled when Eddie forgives Peter, let's go of the symbiote, and returns to being the good man he originally was.

This show needs a continuation.

My god why is Flash Thompson acting more actual human than the crappy Disney (XD)'s Flash Thompson?

Yeah, yeah, limited time and all, but still feel it's a crime captain George Stacy doesn't get even get mentioned here. Not only was a regular supporting character in the show (whereas in other adaptations he'd make some cameo at best), but he became somewhat of a father figure to Peter. He makes it clear to both Peter and Spidey he knows his identity (partially thanks to Venom's failed scheme) and starts helping him on both fronts, coming up with stories as to why Pete would have to disappear. He became the commissioner Gordon to Spidey's Batman and this dynamic would've only gotten more developed had the show not been canceled. Also, he was voice by Lex Luthor, you can't get better than that.

Greg Weismen keeps getting screwed. He basically gets kicked off of his own show with Gargoyles, Young Justice ended because of a lack of action figure sales, and this show gets canned when they still had a lot to get to.

It was worth it to remake the review. It was amazing... No... SPECTACULAR!!!!

Peter's actions can't be justified because he is a super hero but, they can be justified. He was working as an unpaid intern and needed to pay his aunts bills. No one would have helped him with that so he helped himself. He was vilified for wanting to help his Aunt May. The woman who raised him. I always hated how they treated him for only wanting to help his family.

In all fairness, when people say that "Tom Holland is the best Spider-Man", I think they're referring to the live action movies. In that regard, he is the best. But if you take the animated TV shows into account, TSSM had the best Spider-Man.

I don't doubt that if this show would have been allowed to run it's intended 5 seasons, it would be my number 1 superhero-show of all time, taking the throne from Batman TAS. Now, it is just a very, very, very close second. This is the best adaptation of my favourite superhero, distilling all the great things about the character. Hell, if this had been allowed it's intended five seasons it could have been *the* best superhero-adaptation of all time, at least for me. But... sweet things seldom last long. I'm grateful for what I got. Thanks to all who worked on this show. You have my undying respect.

I sincerely agree with you on the execution of the Venom Saga, and this show's Venom is the only Venom that I actually like. I like the other villains in the show a lot as well, though I admit that I've always felt a bit disappointed that Janice, Tombstone's daughter and one of the people to use the identity of the Beetle in the comics, was created about a year after the show ended. Janice's presence would've separated Tombstone a bit from Kingpin, and would give him a bit more depth as an antagonist as a caring father as well as a master crime-lord. Also, considering the fact that Janice is a DA in the comics, she could've been the perfect way to bring Tombstone back for future seasons. I would love to see yet another of Greg's shows return for a third season on Netflix, but with a new show about Spidey about to air and Greg being committed to the revived Young Justice show now, I sincerely doubt that it will happen for at least the next few years.

Thanks for the review. This show deserved to be continued and concluded as planned. Not only that, but superhero animated series fans deserve more than they're getting nowadays. Hopefully, Sony and Marvel will give it another chance. They made a deal for the movies and yes I now the movies are more profitable, but I don't think it's impossible.

Actually, this version of Eddie Brock is more based on the Ultimate comic version. You forgot to mention that this series had the best adaptations of the classic iconic stories from the comic.

Watched 3 episodes recently, and I loved the third episode, the end specifically, showing the struggle of maintaining spiderman AND Peter Parker. While Spiderman won the battle against the Lizard, Peter lost because unlike us, everyone saw him ran away and take pictures of the fight instead of helping. Even though this struggle is probably shown in the comics, I've never read any, and finally seeing it shown on a series, unlike Ultimate (I think) was so amazing.

I know In the comics it's very different but I was really rooting for Liz and Peter as a couple (because Liz is the most developed character in the series) due to her change. But after they broke up, I either want them to get back together if Peter finds out a way to make her forgive him or reveal that he's Spider-Man. What do you guys,think? Well E-Rod given that we have a third season of Young Justice coming to Netflix after being cancelled there MIGHT be a chance that if we show the creators how much we want to see the series come back. We could see a return of it via netflix. If the 90s spiderman series can get a proper finale several years later ANYTHING is possible.

I remember this series very fondly. This series did a great job showing spider man for what he should be, the empowered underdog. The guy who never stops swinging (no pun intended) now matter what life throws at him.

TO be honest with you, they really is a combination of both the classic spider man comics and the ultimate spider man comics. Even introducing the character Kenny from the ultimate comics.

The restriction of the other Marvel characters made the show better for me, since I don't like Spidey coexisting with most other Marvel heroes.

So if Disney actually was ready to put in the effort we could have had a shared universe of Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, The Spectacular Spider-Man, and Wolverine and the X-Men.

I love this show to bits. Definitely one of the best renditions of Spider-Man. But my favourite is stil the 90's Spider-Man show. I think the big difference between the 2 shows is that 'Spectacular' is based on early Spider-Man years. I love and own the early 1960's books with high school Peter Parker. But I'm a 90's kid. I grew up reading the majority of my Spidey comics when he was already in his 20's and a full grown Spider-MAN. They used alot of the 90's story lines and the inclusion of Carnage in the 90's show was awesome. I also prefered the animation. But comparing the two is sort of pointless as they both represent different eras of Spider-Man's story. Both of these show will always be the best representations of the comic book Spidey brought to screen. I will also include Spider-Man Homecoming as being a great comic to screen representation.

Who knows. With Young Justice and all those other cartoons from the past getting revived as of late... maybe there is hope for the final three seasons to be created at some point. This is the most-beloved Spider-Man series for most fans, after all.
