Would've been brilliant if it had been intentional, although it technically would've been a metaphor or symbol than allegory. Allegories are broader, like a full story instead of just a symbolic incident.

KpitGangsta I think I know the OP's viewpoint; perhaps black people shouldn't respond in anger, but a certain level of human anger is understandable. However, I like to poke the bear and see how people feel down in their gut.

KpitGangsta What's the narrative in this case? To be honest with you, man, I don't even remember what head-space I was in making my first comment. My last comment was me trying to think about what I COULD have been trying to do. I apologize for not being more forthright, and ask for forgiveness. But it is true, I do like throwing softballs out there, almost playing dumb, to get an honest answer out of people.

And completely undeserved in my opinion. Just because it touched on racism and was generally a quite good film but overrated does not mean it deserves Best Director, Actor (although a great performance) and especially not Picture, it was not THAT good!

At the end of The Avengers when Thanos turns around and smiles, and it cuts to black, a guy sitting behind me who was one of the few people alive who didn’t think it was Red Skull or something and instantly knew who that was said “Well shit. I guess that’s it. The Avengers are fucked” 😂 to this day it was the funniest thing I’ve heard in a theater

So, I took a film studies class recently and we watched Rear Window. Most of the class had never seen it before and they got really invested and when the murderer came to the apartment, people were visibly apprehensive if he will survive.

Something someone said out loud during my viewing of Blade Runner 2049, when Dave Batista first appears on screen, this Filipino guy behind me says, "Dave Bastisia", I turned around, and saw him nodding his head proudly. I'm assuming he was proud to see a Filipino movie star.

The first time I heard the meme was actually in regards to war movies and it was that the black guy dies SECOND. The first person is the guy with the girl back home. It was an SNL sketch with Eddie Murphy. I think second (or technically third) applies to horror movies, too. Usually it's the couple having sex that get it first

AGAIN! People don't seem to recognize that black people have to deal with this awkward conversation shit all the time. I have so many experiences where you just smile and walk away. You try to be polite so you don't come off as the angry black person. Another perspective for you to consider.

mayboy128 A lot of time it makes you feel othered for no reason. I am black and proud of that, but I'm also a person with unique opinions and interests not related to my race. Like I could see if we're talking about culture, hair, music, etc... but sometimes it feels like the person just was itching to throw in that I'm somehow different. That happened a lot during college, it's like we're talking about our math homework, why did you feel the need to mention my race? Also seemingly positive stereotypes can still have negative consequences: believing that black people are innately more athletic subconsciously feeds into fear against us having superhuman strength and the belief that we're somehow more dangerous. Listen to how cops describe black suspects that they shot and killed.

Holy cow! This was the very first time ever, out of probably 100 tries, that I clicked on the box at the end of the video to watch a related video and it actually SHOWED THE RELATED, FREAKIN' VIDEO! I went to see Age of Ultron opening night. The theater, as you'd expect, was completely packed. During the scene where Vision lifts Thor's hammer, it was completely silent. Then, from the back, I heard someone say very loudly "WHAT!?" It was subtle, but that's the best thing I've heard said at a movie screen.

My favorite movie theater "yells at the screen" moment goes back to 'Friday After Next'. It was a very hot day and a thunderstorm rolled in while my girlfriend and I were buying tickets at a second run cinema in a black neighborhood. The theater was 75% full and the film broke in the first 20 minutes. Then the power went out for a minute, which reset the airconditioning. Everybody groaned as we started to sweat, and one dude yells out "I'm leaving! Who's with me!?" to deafening silence. *cricket chirp, cricket chip* They repaired the broken film strip about 15 minutes later and most everyone stayed till the end.

During 'The Girl on the Train' when the drunk ex finds the baby sitter's phone, my husband goes, "AWWW THAT'S THE SIDE BITCH PHONE' and I responded, mock-upset, "Whatchu know about a side bitch phone?!?" and literally like 3 rows of the theater started cracking up laughing.

the best thing I ever heard yelled at a horror movie: during "I know what you did last summer 2" there was a moment where joey Lawrence's character popped his head out of an open grave and someone in the audience yelled "woah!" comedy gold right there.

One of the TCM movies had the dad from Kenan and Kel in it, Leatherface failed to kill him like 3 times and he survives with the white woman, it was hilarious.
