Y’all gave Dan 18 years of Classic Doctor Who and you split modern Doctor Who 3 ways? Dan really got the short end of that stick

Joshua Lynch I think the original thought was that modern is 40 minutes while classic was 20. And idk if you’ve noticed but Joe has been writing the other trailers for other weeks.
@joshualynch1107
@joshualynch1107 5 жыл бұрын
Modern is 40 minutes with 13 episodes per season for 10 seasons. Classic is 20 minutes with 25-40 episodes per season for 18 seasons. Dan, Spencer, Joe, and Lon all have other work to do besides this. I’m not gonna even try to debate who does more work at Screen Junkies. Besides, I was only messing with them. Didn’t think it was that serious a statement.

Hey Joshua Lynch! I wasn't fighting you, I was pointing out something nicely, but now it is a FULL ON FEUD!! 😡😡😂😂😂 Thanks for re-writing my comment about the time of the episodes DUDE!!!!!🤬 😂😂 "Well actually" I was telling you what they said during the classics commentary, that they thought it was evenly distributed during the initial part, then they realized that it was more!!!! I AM RESPECTFULLY COMMENTING AND MAKING SATIRE OF HOW PEOPLE THINK EVERYTHING IS A FIGHT!!!!!! 😅

This is it. Screen Junkies has officially hit a new peak. If they can tackle the entirety of Doctor Who, they can do anything. EDIT: And now that they’ve loved this comment of mine, I wonder what TV shows they’ll tackle next? Maybe Adventure Time, which just ended recently and has been requested for years, and could begin these guys’ foray into the bizarre world of modern animated TV?

The "Radio Dramas" are genuinely good, especially the eighth Doctor Paul McGann ones. The Big Finish audio adventures are an underground secret only a small segment of Whovians know about. The Eighth doctor only had a film (and a minisode) on the screen, but his entire life as a Doctor lives on in audio form acted out by Paul McGann (plus comics/books). They are really a lot of fun, and he's a great doctor. Also, Bbc has made them (mostly) canon. Great work on these two episodes of Honest trailer!

For Spencer: Douglas Adams script-edited one series of the show and wrote two stories: "The Pirate Planet", and the one you talked with Dan about in the other commentary "City Of Death" (the one set in Paris with Leonardo DaVinci). What Riley was saying about Dirk Gently is that the plot of the first book is a combination of "City Of Death" and the *other* story he wrote "Shada". There was a strike during the filming of "Shada", and it was never finished or aired, although many years later there was an animated version made from the script with the 8th Doctor, and they've just recently made a new version with the parts that were unfilmed animated. Also, FWIW, "Life, The Universe, And Everything" started life as a script he submitted to the series which was rejected for being too silly (if you can believe that). Tell me you can't see the DNA of Doctor Who in the Krikkitmen.

"A life this long-do you understand what it is? It's a battlefield like this one...and it's empty...Because everyone else...has fallen. Thank you..thank you both...for everything you were to me...Capaldi's goodbye had me in tears. Didn't think any could have topped Tenant's goodbye for me. Imagine the Internet if we could all follow the Doctor's words..."Always try to be nice...but never fail to be kind." Outstanding job to all of you-can't believe Joe missed this after all the hours you spent on this. But great having a person with knowledge of the series. I watched it a bit growing up in the 70's but didn't really become a real fan until the 2005 re-launch and I've watched it ever since. Outstanding Screen Junkies...

Regarding Douglas Adams (discussion around the 6 minute mark), his fourth Doctor episode "City of Death" includes a twist that also appears at the end of Dirk Gently that life on Earth came from the explosion of an alien spacecraft. Regarding the size of the TARDIS, there is an episode of classic Who (Castrovalva - S19E01) wherein they're forced to jettison 1/4 of the TARDIS rooms to produce the energy needed to escape a dangerous time event. It's a sort of relativistic convert mass into energy kind of thing.

This is perfectly on point, I've loved this show ever since it came back in the UK and you do sometimes end up with a love-hate relationship on certain series, but there's always something to admire! ... also I feel like being *that person*, so for Spencer mentioning the thought of a Victorian-era person seeing aliens and screaming "Satan!" - Torchwood: Miracle Day has a flashback Captain Jack in the 20s, and he's kept in a basement and repeatedly killed/revived by some religious folks who are trying to figure out if he is an unholy creature or a blessing in disguise... it's a long story.

here's one thing I always meant to ask Jack. Back in the old days. I wanted to know about that Doctor of his. The man who appears out of nowhere and saves the world. Except sometimes he doesn't. All those times in history when there was no sign of him, I wanted to know why not. But I don't need to ask any more. I know the answer now. Sometimes the Doctor must look at this planet and turn away in shame. I'm recording this in case anyone ever finds it, so you can see... you can see how the world ended.

@17:00 still need to factor in that she ran off because she figured she could get back in time for the wedding. That was portrayed as the deciding factor in her head, whether or not she was going to follow through with returning or not.

I'm with Spencer about 11 and Amy. Half the reason I hated that run is it always felt like Amy would drop Rory immediately if the Doctor looked at her sideways. Also I mostly watched this because I wanted Martha to get the attention and credit she deserves and I got "rebound rose". UGHHH (Also you definitely need to do Supernatural now...its equally long, dramatic, and nonsensical. It also does the balance of Very Serious and complete foolishness too. See scooby doo)

Definitely, she learned to eventually love Rory.

Ehhh....I see what they were trying to do with Amy. The Doctor was her best friend/celebrity crush rolled into one but Rory was the one she seriously loved. I just don't think they nailed the execution. Martha gets more hate than she deserves, she just has a less pronounced arc than, say Donna. And while if love for them to conquer Supernatural, it would be too much, there's just too many episodes and not enough consequences.

I could write entire essays about why the idea that Amy didn't love Rory is completely wrong, but I'm a bit tired so instead I'll just point you in the right direction. Essentially, Moffat likes to write about Mental Issues and topics related to Mental Health. Look up Fixation on Google, and then realize *a)* the hellhole that was young Amelia's life *b)* how the Doctor was her only hope of escaping that and finally *c)* how holding on to his existence with all her mental might when the entire world was telling her that her one lifeline wasn't real was her only way of surviving for 10-12 long years with her brain at least largely intact (or possibly even surviving at all) and you'll likely start to see where Amy's sexual "attraction" to the Doctor came from. It also explains why she ran away on her wedding night, and how she responds when she might lose people she love, by the way: Amy can handle most things, but she has an extreme fear, almost a phobia really, of abandonment, and that in turn is her greatest Character flaw, with her entire Character Arc revolving around finally being able to commit to the person she loves most in all the world, namely Rory.

It's something that I'm in two minds about. Classic Doctor, he never fell for a companion (except maybe Romana), and you can understand why for the reasons stated in the video. Romana was his equal, even his superior, so you could see it with her. You could see why companions WOULD fall for him, but they didn't play with that that much (not that I remember anyway). New Who seems obsessed with the romantic side, except for maybe Donna, who made a refreshing change. I welcomed Peter Capaldi as I hoped it would put that to one side for a while. The Doctor always seemed more like a grandfather to me, with his elongated lifespan, and the felt like the relationship he had with the majority of his companions.

Regarding “nods” to other seminal sci-fi, John Byrne and Chris Claremont subconsciously regurgitated Day of the Daleks when they wrote Days of Future Past, and Days of Future Past lead directly to The Terminator. If memory serves it was John Byrne that had been living in the U.K. when Day of the Daleks was broadcast and the plot device is essentially identical - time traveller from future comes back to avert dystopian future.
