11:17 I think there is a huge cultural aspect missing from the discussion, and that is "the Asian mom" factor. I'm not Asian but I have an Asian wife and know a lot of Asians who adore this movie, and they all tell me that this (for want of a better term) "emotional brutality" is a real aspect of Asian culture. It's not cruelty, its just a form of "tough love" that seems harsh to westerners, but not so much to Asians who are able to read through it better. Happy to have actual Asians weigh in with their better informed opinions.

Thank you for your comments on Stephanie Hsu. I felt like I was crazy since I know the discussion was always Angela Basset or Cate Blachett and then JLC won and I'm over here like, what about Stephanie Hsu dangit! Don't get me wrong, I adore JLC and think it's criminal the Oscars overlook genre films, but it seemed obvious to me that Stephanie Hsu was the stronger performance.

relatable villains- I'd say definitely Magneto, Roy Battey (Blade Runner teardrops in rain speech), Carey Mulligan in promising young woman (probably more antihero)

It is actually made pretty clear that Evelyn is a bad person. This is mainly due to her farther. She only becomes a better person when she engages with Waymond's worldview.

There needs to be a standing instruction to the trailer playback guy to just automatically pause (without being told) after each trailer segment, since that's what you do anyway. Then you only need to tell them to pause for special cases. And we have awards for "best art" because Louis B. Mayer didn't want actors to unionize, so he created AMPAS and figured to throw them a party and distract them with awards.

True story. I only know of the Turn it Down for What video because Danielle mentioned it on an old episode of SJU. It blew my mind and I KNEW after seeing this movie (knew nothing about it going in) that they had to have their hand behind it. Thank you Danielle.

A colleague was hugely proud of her daughters but you wouldn’t have known it when one of her girls was working with us. Bringing misfortune on your kids by praising them is apparently a fairly common superstition, especially in many SE Asian countries, so that might’ve been what was being portrayed.

i read Marvel approached them to direct Loki s2 but they turned it down due to… scheduling (??) i think. i think that would have been really awesome.

Couldn’t watch/listen too this. Audio was too bad on Spencer’s side. I wish they would have waited a day to do it.

Agreed. Of all of the films to slouch on, the widely beloved, 7 Oscar winning (including best picture) movie was not the one. EEAAO deserved far better than a hastily thrown together Skype call with terrible sound and bad camera angles.

Oh my god I can't wait until this movie isn't a popular topic anymore. I'm literally sick of hearing about it. It's not even that great a movie. It's mediocre, at best.
