But "everyone else" includes a lot of the media companies whose investments over the best part of a century created all the content Netflix was streaming before 2012 (and most since). They understood that the internet naturally creates near-global monopolies which are almost indestructible, and that if they allowed Netflix, or any similar service, to monopolize streaming, they would become its slaves.

50 states of fright is actually pretty good show every couple episodes is a short story based on some Urban legend from a different state directed by Sam Rainey The first story has the guy from the main lead of Vikings

One advantage DVD's and blu rays is better then streaming services is that they don't get taken away from you and no scenes get taken out because someone throws a fit

Also, picture and sound quality are always pretty much top notch on disc, while streaming often has less bandwidth, and even less during peak hours or when some virus makes everyone use video conferencing (Netflix, Disney+ etc. actually disabled the highest quality setting last spring, remember?)

I have 4 streaming TV services that cost $53.00 total (Netflix, Prime, HBO and Starz Prime channels). We still have a bundled cable package, and that sets me back $193.00. Streaming still wins for me.

It was also nice when the algorithm new how much I liked a show in order to better recommend me stuff. The moment they took that away was the moment the algorithm could no longer differentiate between "oh my, that was amazing!" and "well I suppose this was better than staring at a wall for two hours". Recommendation quality went WAY down.

Right. When the pirate options are not just cheaper, but better and more convenient? You're gonna have a hard time competing. I mean, lets be real, that one service that no one recognized totally has ALL the content in one convenient place, and you don't have to wait for it to buffer either as long as you plan ahead a bit. Probably. I don't recognize it.

I can't for the life of me figure out how no business supergenius hasn't cut a volume deal with the suppliers this fractured market and offered customers one boffo login for a discount bundle price. The Honest Trailer was right because it's turning right back in to cable where you had to pay for a bunch of crap you didn't want just to get the few things you do want.

It's weird though for the life of me I can't figure out why it failed. I liked that it was free and was okay to trade ad watching for free content. They had struck a good balance of content to ad time too. Mysterious.

Almost every new plant manager we got at my last company would come up with the same “brilliant idea” that all the others did, and when I would point out “we’ve tried that,” 2, 3 & then 4 “times already,” I would be ignored, and we’d be forced to do it again, and *gasp* it still didn’t work. Wow, who could have seen that coming? 😁
