Um i do think the movie was unnecessary but I feel like its completely likely for bonnie to forget woody and I actually generally like that Idea due to how absolutely realistic that is I mean I got a toy from my grandma once and I used to love it at first but like a few minth later i was plaing with other toys instead. So I generally just like this idea

Like, did we need that answered? I'm sure the diehard Bo Peep fans wanted it, but this movie revealed to me that they surgically removed any semblance of a personality Bo Peep had in the first and second one and replaced it with Woody 2.0. just to satisfy fan hunger, so I would have rather went with "she got sold. The end." It would have been lazy, but it could have avoided this.

Tough Toy Story 4 still managed to be a decent film

Buzz, Jesse, and the rest of the gang had no purpose in this movie, but they "had" to be there because it's Toy Story. Bonnie, who was obsessed with Woody in Toy Story 3, inexplicably has no use for him whatsoever in Toy Story 4 because that's what needs to happen for the plot to get going. Bo Peep's personality has completely changed from the previous movies, and Woody goes back on every moral and lesson he's learned for the past three movies. It's like they wanted to make something different that would offer a radical new perspective on the Toy Story universe and the lessons it teaches, but the only way they could get people to go see it was to make it a sequel that brought back all the original characters. The problem with doing that is now in order for the story to resonate it has to connect in a believable way to all the various character arcs in previous installments, which had already been given the ending they deserved by that point. If they wanted to do a deconstruction, they should have gone all the way and used an all-new cast of characters.

I believe you. This movie had none of the heart of the previous 3. Toy Story ended perfectly with Toy Story 3. This was a weak money grab.

Because he realised that he wasn't happy anymore where he was. He was brave enough to separate from his beloved friends and go to chase something new that could make HIM happy. I think that learning to make yourself happy it's a very beautiful message that not many movies present

@@Gabi-ub8md Yeah but the thing is people usually don't do a 180 on their values and what defines them, and Woody no longer being happy with those things felt very contradictory to the character they introduced and built over the series. A person doesn't usually change that drastically or decide they need to flip their whole lives to be happy again. In my opinion, it didn't make sense for Woody's characterization and his overall arc. If that's the story they wanted to tell, they should've used a different character

@@simly5189 I think the key point is that there was a massive external change in Woody's life: Bonnie stopped playing with him. The love from his kid was gone, but true to his character he still cared about her wellbeing. He knew that while she no longer needed him she did need Forky, so he risked his life to bring Forky back to her. He fulfilled his duty to her and took the opportunity of a new life of happiness when it was offered.

@@only_sleeping7276 Toy Story 3 isn't perfect and has many flaws. But has the merit to end the franchise on a very satisfying and good note(and should have keep it that way). All the main gang is still together, live hard stuff together, and are happy together...With even new friends and a new owner that will love them and play with them for a long time. The end of Toy story 4 sound like the begining of a franchise they gonna milk till it's completly dry. And even if the 3rd was the same, it didn't feel it at all.

I loved it, I thought it was amazing.

The action was lacking, the message was weak, the emotional moments were forced and basically the entire cast was reduced to extras, so they failed getting me with nostalgia too. @@CelibateCetologist Toy Story 4 challenges Woody way more than other Toy Story movies, culminating in him making a choice that some people don't like. But IMO the movie builds up the conflict towards this choice very well and I prefer it over Toy Story 3. A lot of people I've seen talk about it who like Toy Story 3 more can't even find much negative to say about it, beyond the fact that they preferred Toy Story 3, because it's that objectively good of a movie with in my opinion the best script in the franchise bar the first one

@@only_sleeping7276 no, 3 was perfect if there is one thing I regret was watching this film. The stroy destroy all the grow in the characters and don't make sense with them. The new writters took something that was well made, have a fan base that grew with It and that makes me think that either they were lazy to create something new to explore, or they didn't understand the "soul" of this proyect. I will say to both of the coments up to stick to their decisions and everyone who is thinks the same to not look this movie, oh boy, how I wish i could forget it!!

@@lauaracarrillo I could explain to you my problems with Toy Story 3 which have nothing to do with characterization but with the actual handling of the plot. Toy Story 3 isn't upsetting for me (except I do lowkey hate the implication that toys hate being played with by toddlers) I just think its plot doesn't really contribute much to its ending, so I just find it kind of boring. Also the humour in it is off imo. But I'd just like to add that I've also seen people who like both 3 and 4 and rank both at the top of their Toy Story lists

@@only_sleeping7276 I agree with you. Toy Story 4 is good. I think it's one of those films where people who hate it will enjoy it in the coming years. There's a lot of good stuff in there, especially the idea of "what do you do next when your purpose is already filled". Not to mention the animation of 4 is some of the best I've seen in Pixar.

Same here. I had a similar feeling about Onward, the movie starts off perfectly OK but lacking that old Pixar magic, but yet still got me all emotional by the end. A mediocre Pixar movie is still a well above average movie!
