I am the honest vocal coach! I have been teaching for 15 years and been singing since I was 16. I teach from my own studio and also teach and mentor via email, and online via Live & Skype. I specialise in teaching children, and teenagers pop and musical theatre but I am trained in all genres of music. I have studied every voice technique there is, including Speech Level Singing, Estill, Bel Canto, Robert Lunte, London College of Music, ABRSM, Ria Keen, Kim Chandler, Stevie Van Lange and many more. Look at her very early work. Her confidence was shot to shit because of negativity and she stopped using her range and power and started whispering. I think negative people ruined her singing ability.

She may not be the best "singer" but I do think that she has a really nice deep tone to her voice. The song "Naked" and obviously "Say You'll Be There" from the Spice Girls first album highlight her deep tone really well. Also, in the song "Too Much", from their second album, her deep tone is super sultry. I always looked forward to her verses in the Spice Girls songs honestly..

Not Such An Innocent Girl by Victoria Beckham is a bop. She's a good dancer and Spice member. She struggles solo vocally but a part of the group, she has had her moments...mostly on the CD tracks and for live performances she was one of the best dancers

I agree with this. As part of Spice Girls, she definitely had her moments and she's a great dancer. That's why they're called Spice Girls not Victoria, Emma, etc.

IOU was written by Victoria for David, it’s was 2001 when this performance was aired. Also, this was never a single or a buzz single, the interview was about them being newlyweds and she performed IOU at the end of the show, the song is from her album VB which was also released in 2001

As a massive fan of Victoria I appreciate how kind you are towards this performance, even the negative comments you make, I couldn't help but laugh, your so likeable! JUST for the record though, she obviously knew this song wasnt ground breaking, I guess they were just trying to use "brand Beckham" to promote her album (which was actually good, youd be surprised) Can we please have a Melanie C one next? This is where you separate the real singers from everybody else. A true singer with the vocal talent and skills to actually sing, would have no problem singing solo. My God, she was in a popular girl group for years. It's not like this is her first time on stage. But to be honest, none of the Spice girls are really good singers. That's just a fact. This particular performance was karaoke Worthy.

It was 2001 and the song was written by her for David, not the other way around, haha! It was also her first ever live performance as a solo artist, so it was never going to be her best. You can tell how nervous she was. And yes, only her vocals were live, the band and backing singers were only there for show. Love your videos!

I love that you did a vid on Victoria. Definitely recommend a different song though. This one is not her best. She has a lovely deep voice that can shine when it's the right song.

Victoria can sing well! She is so professional! This was her first solo live performance and it was a brand Beckham performance as they were both on the show. And she is singing live! Most singers dont these days. She never got given a real chance to be the great artist that she is!

I love Victoria and I think her voice is lovely. I think with this performance she was more nervous since this was her first time as a solo artist and the song really is a personal dedication to David. Maybe while singing she was getting choked up along with nerves. It is kinda cheesy, yet I would do the same dedicating my love. Victoria isn’t the best singer nor she ever claimed to be. She can definitely sing and I really would like her to put out another album, but she would need to train her voice better especially for live performances and also since she hasn’t performed in a long time.

the live performace i love the most from her is "A Mind of Its Own". i think she was kinda underappreciated in the group, that never got the chance of shining at her all vocal potential, but her solo album is GREAT. maybe THIS song is not the best from it, but songs like "Girlfriend", "Midnight Fantasy" or "No Trix, No Games" should've been singles on their time. so sad that her solo career was not as successfull as labels expected it to be, she should be still today one of the most iconic solo singers from this century and she's not singing no more

I love the Spice Girls so obviously I like Victoria as well. I think most people will agree that she is no Whitney Houston but music is not always about the perfect voice. It is about the feeling that you get when you listen to it. And this song brings me back to my childhood and nostalgic good feelings. Anyway, I really respect the way how this vocal coach critiques Victoria singing skills in such a respectful kind way. I think I will become a fan of this woman as well. ✌

Oh come on! I think Victoria did fine....she has a pleasant voice and David loves her- pretty uncomplicated story here. You must know how hard it is to get up in front of people & sing SOLO. She has a number of talents & has been blessed with much in this lifetime. I aspire to be as successful!👍🏻😊

She definately sang very good on the song,people criticised her with no reason,she have technique ,maybe not very powerful voice but she can sing.I suggest you can comment on her acoustic performance of A mind of its own.I somehow have doubts that she sang live on this one ,the voice sounds the same as on the album ,just orchestral part is a bit changed.

I quite like this song. I went to see the Spice Girls in concert at Wembley a few years back when Victoria was with them, they all did a solo, but Victoria just came on and walked off again for hers, however, the Spice Girl who everyone wanted to see and who got the most cheers was Victoria. Due to her high profile and marriage to David.. Etc. I prefer her voice to Mel Bs. For me, the best vocalist in the band is Mel C, Emma second, Geri 3rd...together they're the best. I'm a massive Spice Girls fan!

I'd rather listen to Victoria all day than to any of these so called vocal athletes who can't help but belt every single note! Songs, for me, are meant to be cherished by singers, not just tools to show how "great" they are. The Spice Girls , as a whole, are great at doing that! They put the songs first!

I agree - the Spice Girls tailored their songs to their own vocals since they wrote their own music. Even if it meant relegating someone to the harmony for a specific song, they made it work for them.

Yes I'm so sick of everyone friggin riffing their arses off to the point it makes the song less enjoyable. And a lot of those singers their original single was amazing then they go to do it live and they over riff and i'm like omfg shut up and just sing the song. Put emotion in and you're good. You are amazing!! I thought she did ok. She's admitted on a talk show that she I don't claim to have the best voice or I'm not the best dancer. This song she wrote for David. It was 3 years after the cheating scandal. Vitoria is a beautiful person and a she great at business. She's very smart. Very loving and family oriented.

Besides that excellent review, I wish you had pointed out a little bit more the parts where she did the OOooohhh ooooh... since those seem to me vocally good... But I'll let you comment. Thanks! It must be so frustrating for backing/session singers, who probably have better voices than many of the singers they're working with, who never get a break. Just shows you with the right people and marketing you can elevate the poorest of voices.

I'm from Brazil and I have lived in London in the past. There I learned the meaning of the word CHEESY which we actually don't have any adjetcive in Portuguese that can really describe this. When David appears and you say it's cheesy, it's the perfect use of the word. LOL
