We started fermenting organic garlic cloves in raw honey. We eat a clove daily with a spoonful of the honey. The fermentation process takes the dragon breath right out of the garlic.

@@jacobortwine7063 I would forget here and there, and it's definitely scary when you do burp it lol. Lots of pressure buildup if you forget to burp.

@@jacobortwine7063 I got the special lids that burp themselves starting with the second jar. I found that some of the smaller cloves got up through the "spring weights" that came with them that are supposed to hold the product down under the liquid, so I put a regular mouth lid under the spring base and it did the trick, but I was afraid that the acid in the honey would rust the lid. I got the actual glass pucks now instead. Just started using those, but they seem to be doing the trick. Don't have to burp now, and every once in a while, we get a whiff of garlic, lol!

Straight up onion has been my go-to for 50+ years. My grandparents taught this. Either eat it like an apple or on a piece of bread with some animal fat (lard, tallow or butter)❤

Hi Dan. I’m glad you’re feeling better. As soon as the coughing starts in my house, my mother would whip this up. And everyone had to partake, and we felt better. Nobody wanted to talk to you because of the strong onion. Old school. That’s a small jar. My mother always had a large mason jar the start of cough and cold season. 👍🏽

There's a lot of these little mixes, some being heated in a pot that are truly healing. So many old remedies that actually work. All are basically from raw food and spices, moderately manipulated and combined intelligently. Food Is Powerful.

When I was young we got to have a mixture of honey, lemon juice, and a shot of whiskey all blended together and then we got a teaspoon for our throats. Worked great. The mixture had a little water added to it to cut the lemon down a bit, but other than that it was good to go.

Just a note: local honey does not help with allergies. An immunologist I know explained to me that the pollen that causes allergies is from plants/flowers that are pollinated via air/wind. Plants that are pollinated via bees/other animals does not blow up except in the strongest of winds. Therefore, 99.9% off allergies from pollen is not from the pollen bees use to make honey. However, buying local is always good for the local economy and it is always good to support local business, if possible.

Hi Dan, its best to use the most natural honey you can get. Lots of store bought honey has artificial stuff in it. Like you having your own bees is the best honey with the most health benefit. Aside from that, honey and lemone has lots of health benefits.

Hi Dan, Johann from South Africa. Love your channel. We have a similar remedy from our old Boere folk. Onion grated rough, add lots of brown sugar. The sugar then liquifies with the onion juices over a few days. This liquid can then be consumed with a table spoon. One or two spoons full when you feel the cold or flu symptoms, sore throat, and you're will be well on your way in no time again. Just the onion breath after you drank the mix is a bit, well oniony ;-)

If my dad had a chest cold/crouping cough he would sometimes eat an onion sandwich and said it would help. He would also make a home-made 'cough syrup' that worked better than most iver the counter stuff - white lightnin' (the real deal, clear as filtered water and kicked like a mule - he knew someone who made it), honey, lemon juice and maybe just a touch of warm water to help the honey melt and make it a hot toddy.

No, you don't have to throw it away. The thin viscousity is what you really want (exact1y like cough syrup). Plus honey doesn't go bad, it lasts forever. If your concerned about the onion which i don't think that goes bad either [due to the honey] b/c it's in the onion just strain the onion at approx that one week mark and place the infused honey in a jar by itself. Hope this helps someone. Also, both the thyme and onion/honey concoctions helped your respirat0ry system. Another excellent one, is diffusing oregano oil in the home (careful no newborn babies & some young children, lavendar is good for them only). Oregano oil is a natura1 expectorant (breaks up 11 mucous). Caution: always test any natural oils prior to using by doing a 24 hr skin test with a carrier oi1. Please be carefu1. Have a great day.

If you’re doing along term version of this with onion or garlic (1+ years is super healthy for you and delicious! Turns black, looks scary but it’s just oxidized and super amazing!) be sure to leave the skins on. Onion skins are the healthiest part. Antioxidants, anti inflammatory, antibacterial AND anti viral! I also love pouring some over grilled chicken. Yum!!
