VS, this video came into my feed this morning and I am so happy I stopped to view it. You made my day! I loved watching the time elapse as you worked on your art project. You showed us your planning and preparation phase. As you worked through the assembly, I could feel the anticipation and excitement grow as you gradually worked toward the completion of your masterpiece. You confirmed a few things to me with this project, with this video: 1. Art can be wrought from the simplest ideas. I don't know what materials you used exactly (at this point I had not yet seen your supply list), but you showed that even the simplest, most humble items (a thumbtack) can be fashioned into something extraordinary; 2. Art can be approached methodically. You are a mathematician as well as a creative, visionary artist. I am almost certain you’re aware that the Golden Ratio is one of the most powerful geometric relationships toward which the human eye will automatically be drawn, every time. Your use of it here with your Golden Rectangle is a perfect example of how Nature and the Artifice of Man can combine to produce an irresistible form; 3. Your work is magic! I believe your masterpiece is alluring precisely because we can be aware and apprehend the simple forms you incorporated into your design as we watch your assembly, but we cannot explain the optical illusion that your piece displays. The different aspects of natural light that enters your living room as well as the artificial light that you’ve installed must create some very interesting effects on your piece. Your use of only black and white (the absence of all colour against the presence of all colour, optically) with the three-dimensional form is brilliant here, especially at different hours of the day when that source of light can vary. The geometry, although technically static, stays alive with the illusion of movement and pattern and perspective--hence, Magic!--and 4. Art is an expression of the most beautiful, profound, and even the most poignant qualities of life. That simple request from your wife is very sweet and inspiring. What it moved you to do, to act, and to spark your imagination and creativity is irrefutable evidence of what exists between the two of you, what you permit to enter your lives, and the manifest expression of your life, specifically, but also the manifest expression of mankind in general. In witnessing your inspiration, creativity, and completion of your masterpiece, you invite us to come along with you. You brought me along the journey toward that expression. In this work, the Artist creates for his race, in a kind of proxy for the rest of humanity, through which we are all artists with him on this journey. The result is not unimportant, not insignificant because through your process, through your expression, we begin to understand, among other concepts, the human notion of Beauty and our need to experience it for ourselves. Through art, we present to one another the meaning of our lives. In a very odd and mysterious way, you’ve communicated all of this to us. We are all only too aware of how fleeting life already is. We know there is no permanence. In the end, everything fades away. In this moment of your creativity, we understand and affirm that, while we are here, we are none of us alone. We are important. We are significant. You have expressed, in a very humble and subtle way, a viable, tangible, and necessary meaning of life. Not to mention that you did it with gorgeous and brilliant results! Your wife must be very proud of her artist husband! Thank you for inspiring us. It is good be alive! Keep up your good, important work, my friend.

casillasf satx, hands down the most thorough, poetic, artistic, comment ever written on KZfaq. THANK YOU! Putting the effort into the project and video was totally worth seeing your amazing response to it, nearly a decade later. Seriously, I'm going to print this out and post it on my office wall to continue pressing on in encouragement. Thank you again and many blessings. ✌💖

@craigsphillip 6 жыл бұрын
VS, Hello! I never imagined that I would receive a response from anyone, let alone the Artist himself. The gratitude is entirely the other way round! I am so grateful to you, VS, for your kind reply, your generous words, and for the fact that you understand what I am saying. I wrote that comment in a flutter of excitement and inspiration from viewing your cool and amazing video. I can’t tell you what a thrill it is that you received it so well and so openly. At the risk of sounding like a complete nutter, that comment was only the surface of what your video caused me to ponder all day today. I think I must have dwelt on those thoughts a hundred times. My mind flooded with more thoughts of all that is beautiful, magical, joyous, wondrous, and mysterious about life, because of you. I had time to view your project only once this morning; I was in a hurry and needed to get on with work. But the feed on my YT account placed your video at the top of the list. Your title for the video was immediately inscrutable, but wholly intriguing. I had to see what this is all about. However, that one viewing is all I needed to sustain my reaction. Watching you plan your layout and design, then as the video rushed by, witnessing your slow, gradual assembly was mesmerising, hypnotic, entrancing, and building almost to a kind of suspenseful and palpable excitement. I was completely engaged and even invested in your efforts as your project approached its final culmination. Admittedly, by the time you are seen in the video positioning the ladder in order to hang your masterpiece, I was on my feet suppressing a triumphant shout, in my cubicle, in the middle of my office, surrounded by my co-workers, who surely would have been startled and then would have become angry at my random and annoying outburst! LOL! In the end, I successfully managed to keep my big mouth shut, finished my current task, and afterwards, worked my energy and an avalanche of my thoughts into the comment I posted for you. I say that those comments were only the surface of everything you caused me to contemplate because I wish that I could tell you ALL of the other things I gleaned from your video and your art project. The bottom line is I think that the purpose of what you did is greater than even what you may understand. I mean, where does inspiration come from anyways, you know? It is as mysterious and difficult to understand that process as it is to attempt to map the human imagination. A great and important question, certainly. But the more pressing matter is that artists emerge among us to serve as a conduit for Truth, the sign-posts to help us re-direct, re-focus toward the more needful, important matters, and to help us navigate a treacherous and danger-ridden journey. Sometimes we can become creatures of habit and quickly find ourselves in a rut. We easily find the path of least resistance and smugly settle into our own comfort zone. The problem is that, for example, we inoculate ourselves against such helpful sign-posts, the warnings of dire things to come on our path. Lamentably, we ignore not only the things that will preserve our life, but we inoculate ourselves against happiness, fulfilment, contentedness, things that are meant to improve the quality of life. We are told this all the time, even incessantly. Tell me something new, right? That is why I think your video makes such an impact. You are, for that brief moment of creativity and artistic endeavour captured, rather prosaically and simply, in a time-lapse video, a conduit for Truth. It is the Truth that affirms the inescapable fragility but also the sublimely magnificent aspect of what it is to be alive, yes, but also that Truth that grabs one by the lapels and screams, “You. Are. Alive! Now, live! You are NOT alone! We are with you. We are together. Witness my hand reach for you! Lift up your eyes and see that I am here for you.” I am aware of how preposterous my words may seem. Indeed, I myself am rather taken aback at how profoundly your video has affected me. How did YT know to place YOUR video at the top of MY feed?!? I certainly would not suppress anybody’s skepticism at what I am saying. However myriad and complex I may believe the underlying message in your video and ultimately, in your masterpiece of art is, and however esoterically the message may be only for my own contemplation, I say these things to you if only to encourage you to keep creating. Keep being an artist. Because when you do, you may not be aware of how many people you may be touching and affecting and influencing and inspiring with your work. Create. Because when you do, you may not be aware of just how much Truth you are serving as its conduit. Imagine. Design. Plan. Assemble. Make ART. Because when you do, you may not be aware of how much Beauty, and how much wondrous Magic, and how much Joy, and what depths of the mysteries of this Life you are reflecting back to us. And for goodness’ sake, post those videos on KZfaq! Upload them all, please, lol! Great good many blessings to you, too, VS! You are the joy, my friend. "Honey, can you make something for that big wall?" his wife suddenly requested of her husband. Interpretation: Wife: “Honey, can you show me your vision of Beauty? Can you offer me something from your mind that I can contemplate, and by which I can draw nearer to you? Can you make our castle, our stronghold, our home, a place of safety and protection, but also a place where joy abides? Can you surround me by the height, and width, and depth of your imagination? Honey, can you show me what other ways there are that you love me?” Husband: “Yes! With 25 black waves of stripes, with 24 white waves of stripes, some tacky craft glue, a few push-pins, some flecks of paint, with foam board, a metal straight-edge, and three days. Yes. For you, I can do that. Watch!” “How do I love thee? Let me count the ways…” SONNET 43, Elizabeth Barrett Browning, 1806-1861

Sometimes I wonder what an alien species observing our behavior would think about this. I'm pretty sure it would go like this. Alien1: "Why is the male creating that?" Alien2: "He was asked by his female partner to improve their shelter. To impress her, he created this, which adds to the aesthetics and desirability of the shelter." Alien1: "Sooo... basically for sex?" Alien2: "Yes, for sex."

VisualSpicer Many people claim to be allergic to dust, but in many cases they are actually having an allergic reaction to dust mites. These mites eat the dead skin and their dead bodies and fecal matter cause allergic reactions in people. Up to 500 dust mites can survive on just 1 gram of dust.

First off, holy crap that is a REALLY tall room! Also, I call fake on this video... I mean, that cat didn't mess with you one single time! It's a cat, they LOVE ruining things! They will look you straight in the eyes as they push your favourite mug off the counter to shatter into a million pieces.

+lillskiten1337 it's just a texture, there is no focus or balance or any sort of interest other than the texture. Not only that but the method of attachment is clearly visible, with the black and white pushpins. rubbercement on teh back would have been a much better way of attaching it.
