Mad honey is a wild honey that’s been documented as a poison, aphrodisiac, powerful medicine and hallucinogenic drug. Nepal's Gurung people have been hunting it for thousands of years and may be the only ones who truly understand its worth. While some accounts say it’s a deadly poison, others refer to it as an aphrodisiac, powerful medicine, and a hallucinogenic drug. VICE travelled deep into the Annapurna mountains to join a Gurung village on their spring hunt and understand Mad Honey's effects.

Dunno if he spoke their native language. I think he maybe spoke urdu or hindi and they're able to speak that too. It sounded more like a turkic language to me. Interestingly, the same mad honey is also harvested in Turkey!

The tightening of the vessels, the energy of the chords within your body, thrumming with the relaxed beat of your heart...our guy's summary at the end seems a very astute take on the mushroom effect meeting the joint effect. If you live in a state where you can grow marijuana. Talk to your local bee keepers about dropping some hives . Makes great honey with a buzz. Not as strong as Nepal mad honey but gets the job done

My buddy from Nepal says that the honey in the mountains is 🔥 gets you high as shit! He says he misses going on mountain adventures like this with his friends and relatives but says he does not miss the living conditions at all. He has such an interesting Nepalese name too.

This was shot like 10-15 years ago and published on vice 4 years ago. The quality of mad honey is not the same nowadays, some people get vomited but only few get high. Due to climate change the number of rhododendron flower plant is decreasing day by day and this climate change has also hit Himalayas and Nepal so much :( Kathmandu is now one of the most polluted city in world!!
