Hong Kong is a special administrative region in the southern part of mainland China, surrounded by the province of Guangdong.
Hong Kong consists of a larger peninsula called the New Territories as well as a number of islands, the most important of which is Hong Kong Island.
We experienced some of the riots in 2019 (November), which made our stay a little worse (different) than expected... but most of the time during the day, it was quieter.
