가수 홍진영이 새로운 앨범 [Birth Flower]로 돌아온다.
지난 2019년 발매한 정규 앨범 ‘Lots of Love’ 이후 약 1년 만에 가요계에 컴백하는 홍진영이 독립 후 첫 앨범을 발매한다. 홍진영의 새 앨범 [Birth Flower]는 ‘탄생화’라는 뜻으로 과거 생일을 축하하기 위해 꽃을 주고받는 것에서 영감을 얻었고 기존 소속사에서 독립 후 1인 기획사를 설립한 홍진영이 새로운 환경에서 다시 태어난 것과 같은 마음으로 새로운 출발의 의미를 담았다.
타이틀곡 ‘사랑은 꽃잎처럼’은 ‘사랑’과 ‘꽃잎’이라는 키워드가 ‘탄생화’라는 주제를 더욱 빛나게 한다. 홍진영은 독립 후 처음으로 발매하는 앨범인 만큼 기획 단계부터 적극적으로 작업에 참여했으며 스태프들과 함께 의견을 나누며 앨범 제작에 더욱 심혈을 기울였다.
데뷔곡 ‘사랑의 배터리’부터 ‘산다는 건’, ‘잘가라’, ‘오늘 밤에’ 등 홍진영의 수많은 히트곡을 작곡해온 국내 최고의 히트 작곡가 조영수와 다시 한번 만났다. 이별의 아픔과 그리움을 다 피고 진 꽃잎으로 비유한 시적인 가사와 가슴을 울리는 세련된 라틴 멜로디가 더해진 ‘사랑은 꽃잎처럼’은 탱고 리듬을 바탕으로 한 스패니시 계열의 라틴 음악과 한국적인 트로트의 이색적인 만남으로 이전에 없던 새로운 매력을 느낄 수 있다.

For those who are saying stop sleeping on her or wish she is more popular, Hong Jin Young is very popular in South Korea. She was in many commercial, drama, and TV shows. Her songs are very popular in Korea. People love her. No need to worry, she is living a good life.

she is very popular in South Korea but her popularity varies. usually when she does a comeback, she doesn't (or can't) beat idol groups. but when she does gigs, she is very popular especially because of her most famous song "love battery". though yes I wish she was a bit more popular. her music is very underrated and the only song that people think if its her is Love Battery

@@Lancynical well she does trot, which is listened by older people and they dont really do all the streaming and voting as much as kpop fans do, so that's why she doesn't really beat idol groups, but she always ends up on Korea's Music Chart, still she is doing well

@@edgarferrer5025 she has a pretty big audience in korea but she's not that huge tbh. She hasn't charted high since like 2014 but her music has decent sales. Since she sings trot, a lot of older people are into her music but old people aren't really as engaged in terms of streaming on music sites and watching music videos.

I think Jinyoung is proof that genres like Trot have more potential for international popularity than industry insiders realize, Trot specifically has some elements that feel nostalgic for western audiences (for me I think some instrumental choices and the “high melodrama” for lack of a better term). I know plenty of the “Soap Operas and red wine” women who would LOVE this. If more countries could take that risk and try promoting their traditional music genres over their version of pop the new products coming out of that would be fascinating. Speaking more traditionally, Lim Kim’s latest album uses instruments and singing techniques of Korean Shamanism/Muism and it’s SO COOL. Kpop is cool and all but it’s Korean culture through an Americanized lens, it’s like it’s been filtered to be more palatable for our consumption. I’d love to see artists around the world reclaim the aspects of their culture that we never even hear about from an outside perspective.

The Queen is back!! I've been following her for so long and I know how hard it was for her to sing trot songs because as a new female idol who prefers sexier and trendy songs, singing trot isn't an easy thing. I remember when she was in Unnie she shared how hard it for her her when her company asked her to sing trot but she remained strong and now she is the queen of trot! She deserves much more.
