I worked at a dental office in the 90’s. We were told, by an oral surgeon we referred a patient to, that the patient had full blown aids. The assistant, that usually prepped him, freaked out when he came into the office for follow up. The office was small and I was empathetic to what the patient may have been feeling. I told her she had already assisted him unknowingly, and this time she can take the necessary precautions. She kept freaking out. I snatched his chart and said I’d do it. I did not want him to feel worse than he already did.
@Shegosushimi

I’m surprised you snatched the chart instead of showing e pearly towards your employee that shows lack of compassion on your part. I wouldn’t want to help either. Additionally based on HIPAA law you should not be disclosing your patients medical information ma’am.

Lost my mother in 1987. (I was 7 years old) and my dad in ‘91 when I was 11. Watching your parents deteriorate in front of your face is the worst thing ever. I didn’t understand what was happening at the time but as I got older and learned what HIV and AIDS was I would cry myself to sleep thinking of the pain and discrimination I witness them go through even from family. Till this day I’m haunted by what I witnessed and even at the age of 43 I still suffer from extreme anxiety every time I get tested. I don’t sleep for days out of fear. My heart goes out to all who have lost someone due to this disease. I lost the only 2 people that loved me unconditionally and had to fight through life alone with no guidance chasing and searching for that love that only a parent could give 😢 Thank God I don’t look like what I been through ❤ 🙏🏽 for all!

I lost my cousin that was like my sister 8yrs ago to AIDS she fought for almost 21yrs with it. I watched her from going to be happy always partying person to someone that was going to dialysis every 3 day's and in and out the hospital to being in the hospital for the last 6 months of her life and then not being able to stop her from bleeding. I watch her die and she always made me promise I wouldn't cry around her so the day she died we had a tornado that knocked out the power and it didn't start until I got the call. I felt my heart being pulled out my body I just locked myself in the bathroom and woke up the next morning believing it was a dream I went into depression for 4 days not eating are anything. So I say all this by saying she is not the only person that died that day

I had two uncle's pass due to complications from AIDS in the late 80's early 90's. The disease scared me as a child and I pray although it is not necessarily a death sentence now, that people still act responsibly. We are no longer seeing the blood transfusion issue but it is now bc of unprotected sex and/or cheating people in supposed committed relationships. What I witnessed as a child I would not wish on anyone. People please love yourself and others enough to be responsible. Prevent what you can.

When my Dad got out of jail, my sister was conceived, that was 1981, he could had did anything in jail, but it was the grace of God. @@TheEsquireofSports212I was a new, young Nurse in the mid 1980's. HIV/AIDS was a death sentence then. My very first Nursing assignment was on a HIV/AIDS unit and I can remember how my patients with HIV/AIDS suffered so terribly, the virus ravaged their bodies, they looked like skeletons even though they were still alive. And the weakness..... They were sooooo weak....I used to help them get on the bedside commode, from the bed to the commode right next to the bed, and they were so weak... often they would die just sitting on the commode or sitting up in bed....the smallest movement would push them over the edge and they would die so quickly. HIV/AIDS is NO JOKE and people need to take this virus SERIOUSLY. Nowadays, people have become willy nilly about this virus and we have minimized it's danger by calling HIV/AIDS a CHRONIC disease and now we have medications and PreExposure Prophylaxis but I tell you, having HIV /AIDS is NO JOKE. Take this virus seriously, use protection and be careful who you lie down with. This is a tragic virus and still very dangerous.

Arthur Ashe was my very first book report/assignment in elementary school, back in the early 90s. We had choices but I picked him. I learned so much about him, just a short while after he’d died, and I have carried him with me all these years, for so many reasons. I’m now nearly 40, and he is still, and will always be “that dude”! Rest on, King Ashe!

This was awesome to hear. Being poz for 44 years now, I see behind the veils, and it's beautiful to see how the families honored they're wishes. I remember hearing about Ryan White. My daughter who had many blood transfusions in 1983 acquired hiv from them and from my breast milk. She and I would often wage bets as to how we were gonna outlive Ryan...well..I'm left here ad she and Ryan are whole. God bless you all who struggle and yet thrive , who have lost and overcome..daily..I am inspired at all the courage I've seen tonight. Thank you

Arthur Ashe, was very much acknowledged and highly respected when he was alive and once deceased. Tournaments carry his name. A huge stadium carries his name. I do not even play tennis, and I know his legacy! People who believe Mr. Ashe accomplishments are ignored should be ashamed of thier ignorance of how the public loved and continued to uphold all of what he has done.

My deepest sympathy to the families that have lost loved one to aids. To the people that have lost partners and friends to aids. My most sincere degust to the maker of this video and this information you pulled together to make this video. Doesn't matter how these celebrities died. The fact is that they were very talented and should be remembered for their earthly talents. Let us remember and celebrate them for their accomplishments. Not for the illness they died from. Its my personal opinion that their illness is what you want to shine the light upon.

I was in my teens when the aids virus hit the world. Nobody knew what it was or how you could get it. "You can get by shaking someone's hand. You can get it when you drink from someone's glass." A guy I grew up with across the street was dying in his bed in the living room. We were scared to death. The eighties had a lot of major problems. This disease. The cold war. Tsjernobyl. I remember going out and we said to each other: we are not going to life a long live.
