HOOD OPEN WARNING BUT THE HOOD IS CLOSED
If you have a warning that the hood is open on your car when the hood is actually closed we will explain what causes that. Newer cars have a sensor that most of the times is integrated in the hood latch that detects if the hood of the car is open or closed. The sensor consist of micro switch that open and closes. When you open the hood of your car the switch triggers and activates the warning on the dash that says hood open. Once you close the hood the switch should indicate that the hood is closed. However, it is a common problem to see hood open message warning when the hood is closed because of a bad micro switch. In most cases you will have to replace the whole hood latch in order to be able to replace the switch.

I have a 2013 with a sensor on the pass side next to the radiator . The problem was the car lock light and horn would not come on when locking the car because the sensor was not makeing most of the time with the hood closed. I did get this corrected the other day by putting a 3/8 panel plug in the 3/8 inch hole in the hood. I got the plug at ACE hardwear, or even Lowes i think.

2020 elantra started aggressively beeping at me about my hood, which was clearly closed. Found this video which helped me easily find the wire. Looked corroded. Sooo I just unplugged it. Problem solved lol. Well not really. But I'll need to get it replaced at some point I guess.

I had the same problem with my 2020 Elantra last year. I got the wire or switch replaced but the problem came back. This is quite disturbing

in minute 3 the white piece is a sensor which means that I had a light crash and that piece broke but I can't find it on the internet and it changed it's chest but it marks the chest open and I need help

Now face with this problem at my GMC Terrain 2018. What should I need to do? Try with spraying WD-40 on lock and pouring Isopropyl Alcohol on both socket. But still showing Sign. 😅 Suggest me Sir.

Thank you for providing this information. I really found you going to the back of the hood release and showing us the wires in the back and how they attach. That was a good vision I haven't seen before. I would love to see you go through the entire process from where to find each part you talk about and how to check them then move on to the next option. I don't know what my car needs, neither does my mechanic. We can't find the sensor/switch for the 2009 Volvo S80. On a business note, ignore the mean-spirited sometimes racist remarks. Just ignorant people. BUT, read their comments because there might be some nuggets of gold to use like the lady that said stop saying "guys." If it bothers her, it probably bothers others. I am dying trying to get my 2009 w204 c300 Mercedes to stop telling me the hood is open. I have replaced the sensor and retighten the latches and it stills warns about the hood being opened. PLEASE HELP ME SOMEBODY!!! I can not figurer it out. Can a bad battery cause this?

@@ciaracarrs5057 I tried everything. I had bought a sensor from the dealer and it was bad. The mechanic went and ordered another one and the problem was fixed. It was the sensor after all.
