+Jill Burkeen . Is that not actually the hood ? Also what's the deal with the first neighborhood ? Is it social housing that is going to be torn down ? What do the new social housing areas look like ? Also what are the worst hoods in Charlotte ? I might check them out on google street view. Charlotte looks like a nice place though, especially if those are what passes as a "hood".

Downtown Charlotte is no the hood. If U gonna show the Westside or Sugar Creek hotels you need to show more than just brookhill housing. U forgot about the Ford, West Blvd and Remount, North Charlotte, Southside housing. Hidden Valley aint nothing like it use to be but still has it rachetness. U didnt go down or through Glenwood or Tuckerseegee, Hoskins, Creektown. The old Piedmont Court and Fairview homes and over there in Dru hill the old Double Oak housing torn down and rebuild to something else Dela Hay or T Wood. Boulevard Home, The Eastside Grier Town and other on the east. Riding through 1 housing project dont define this whole city. Most people that's in Charlotte these days ain't from here. It's a hood everywhere in the US but that shit aint nothing to to bragging about. If you gonna show something show it all. Not white folk walking downtown Charlotte with a mix up with Brookhill and Sugar Creek the corner store.

Katt P Upload for what the hood aint shit to be Glorifying. If I had a camera I wouldn’t be riding around doing this stupid shit. My point I’m making is if a person gonna makes a video about they need to tell it all instead of half ass. I have wasted enough time explaining to your dumbass. I would’ve rather seen someone doing doing a Humanitary act or heard about someone getting a Scholarship than for someone riding through a Neighborhood in Brookhill. Nigga’s on this dumbass shit always on Bullshit.

I worked as a USPS Letter Carrier in some of these hoods.You can't always judge a book by its cover. Seriously, I wish people would stop being so quick to make surface judgements about people and places. I found some of the well to do people in Myers Park so snooty/obnoxious and some of the people in the "hood" friendly and welcoming. You never know.

The only reason Hidden Valley has any type of rep was because of the Kings. I lived there from 2004-2013 and I didn't even know of the Kings until I saw them on the History Channel. Hidden Valley is being infiltrated by white people who are jacking up the rent to kick out the poor people in that neighborhood. The Tryon Street corridor is undergoing major redevelopment and Hidden Valley is part of it. The west side is also being taken over by whites. Have you driven down Oaklawn Ave lately. They are all up and down Oaklawn, Statesville and Beatties Ford. All of the real hoods were torn down 10-20 years ago. Earle Village, Double Oaks, Piedmont Courts, Dalton Village, Fairview Homes, and Belvedere Homes are all gone.

@Darrenaco 6 жыл бұрын
Update: The first area is south Charlotte and the neighborhood you're driving through will eventually be demolished and ALL the locals will the forced to move out soon; they've already began the abandoning process so I give the area another 3 years(maybe less) before it's nothing but an empty lot of rubble. I love my city but gentrification is something that we're all too used to out here.

Quick question Charlie! How do you figure out where the hoods are in each city you go to?
@angelchiyork1308
@angelchiyork1308 5 жыл бұрын
That would be my question as well. This video obviously wasn't taken by a native. The neighborhoods that were in the video were just ones that were assumed. If you get off of Remount Rd exit right off of I-77, you immediately run into Brookhill and Southside neighborhoods easily, even if you were not trying look for them. He possibly just figured because it "looked" a certain way. But if he were a native, he'd know since Charlotte is rather a "newer" type city compared to most, the "look" doesn't mean much and is easily deceived. Also, just because there were people hanging out in Noda, he assumed that it was the hood, but I know of no "hood" where you can find prices of homes that can be "$200k-$450. If based on the fact that people are hanging out, uptown Charlotte would definitely be considered the hood, especially on weekends past midnight because tons of people will be out and about, but any native of Charlotte would know that uptown Charlotte would still in no way be considered hood.

I work for an engineering firm in CLT (also a native) and Statesville and Oaklawn are (after all this time) now the site of Greenville North, a complex of townhomes in that space between Callahan, Statesville and Oaklawn.

The video wasn't long enough to even show you the hoods in Charlotte North Carolina. I don't know how long it's been since he shot that video but there isn't too many hoods in Charlotte now because of gentrification. White folks bought up the hood, they controls that . I remember when you couldn't get a white person to jog or walk in these neighborhoods back in 98 when I first came here. Ain't no more hoods. But we still got Bojangles and we got Popeyes and Church's Chicken. Grape soda and watermelon.

@Charliebo313 Go to Harvey or Riverdale Illinois. Very low income suburbs of Chicago that look like hellholes. You would be surprised how poor these towns are. And they right outside some very violent parts of Chicago like the wild hunneds and dirty 130s. Next time you go back to da Chi you gotta see these places man frfr its like another side of Chicago

At 3:34, on the right side of the street, that was the Howard Counts Grocery Store in the Hoskins community, back in the mid 1900's. The locals called it "Hired Counts". Used to party hard over there b.i.t.d. Great times!
