It’s funny you say that because the people are somewhat of a representation of that also. It’s like the Bronx in 2005 mixed with something you would see in Philadelphia. A lot of people have old school mentalities in Yonkers. There’s a lot more to it that I can’t fully explain but it’s weird to me that Yonkers is how it is when it’s right outside of NYC and the county it’s in is very modernized

Many generations have been born, raised, and died and never lived anywhere but in Yonkers. If your family has been living in the hoods of Yonkers for at least three generations, you are likely related in some way to many other Yonkers hood families.

Grew up in Yonkers from 1963-1973. Then moved. Lived in the Nodine Hill area on Van Cortlandt Park Avenue. Loved living there, but neighborhood started to get bad. Our apartment building was built in the early 1900’s. Had so much character. As an adult I love watching these videos and learning more about the history of Yonkers. I don’t miss it, love where I live now, but it’s fun to look back in a nostalgic way, see how much it’s changed and how much really has stayed the same. Edited to add: My paternal grandparents lived in those low-income apartments on Walsh Road until the late 70’s. Area still looks the same as it did when I used to visit them.

Yonkers is a pretty big city, something like the second largest city in NY state or whatever. I'm from England but spent two very happy years living on Landscape Ave, 10705, and quickly grew to love it there. Anyone who migrates from Wales to Yonkers will notice the amazing similarity of the terrain - although all the buildings are completely different the hills and dales are identical. The sky in Yonkers though is 100 times clearer!

Good afternoon Charlie, thank you for taking the time out to make these videos. My daughter was the one whom opened my eyes to your videos. Reading the comments from people, it's seems like you have many other town and cities to show. As fascinating as it is to look at these places and to see the history in them, I also find it quite disturbing too. Wishing you all the best with your videos, sending love and positivity from England 🇬🇧♥️🙏🏾

Yonkers has beautiful hills and views of the Hudson River ,Palisades ,Long Island Sound ,creeks and streams with lots of wildlife. There’s great potential if the effort from parents, families, educators, clergy, etc, from every block help the young ones and path the way for next generation to bring Yonkers to new heights. The beefs between blocks and crews must cease.

Charliebo313 you need to do the cornerstore videos in these places & some narrating....its too quite....even if you gotta kick $25 bucks to a 45 year old native to sit in the passenger seat & give you the history on the place, gotta break up the monotony..

This area (in my opinion) isn't that bad. I've walked through these parts without a problem (during the day). Hell, at this point most of NY is pretty safe except for parts of the Bronx and Staten Island. Pretty low income but relatively safe in my experiences.
