Durability is the biggest drawback for mats since they’re flexible the wiring can get damaged. I love small red light pads but treat them as disposable because within 6 months lights start going out.

I don't think this should be a problem.... Wires are flexible..... And I've had a silicone mask for years. And not a problem.. As long as you're not rolling it up like a yoga mat you should be good.

I thinknon thing you might have missed in reviewing this, is: yes, you are only getting the light right around one spot next to the LED, but - you can move around on it a bit. And for most people they will probably move a mot in it, during the treatment time. Or you could set timers and deliberately move after a minute. So, I believe the spot-concentrstion may not be that much of a problem...also, if you are using it regularly, you probably won't end up lying in exactly the same spot, so it will average out over several uses anyway.

Hi Alex, thanks for the video! Just to clarify - you said if one is "pressed hard up against the mat (3.45) they effectively would get no light". What does that mean? How would the skin being pressed up against the light see no absorption? The idea of the mat / pod is to lie down hard up against it as you demonstrated, or am I missing something here?
@LightTherapyInsiders

Some parts of the mat/pod are not covered by LEDs, so there are areas where no light is emitted.

I wonder how many times it can be folded until some wires inside break. Panels have no moving parts (except fans), but no folding wires . And EMF decreases with distance, but most of it comes from power supply.

Thanks for the awesome review! I'm curious if you'd recommend this for muscle recovery. In the portion of the video where discuss power testing, you say that the light is only powerful for 3-4mm. Does that mean that these lights wouldn't penetrate all the way to the muscle? If so, a panel would be better for muscle recovery?

Alex, great video! You mentioned the light intensity is virtually none when pressed up against the light. Is that the same with panels? I have a Platinum BioMax 450. Sometimes I like to almost lay it up against my back or my legs when sore, it is pleasantly warm too. But would you say the intensity may decrease up against the skin and perhaps better to be 3-4 inches away? Thank you very much with your reviews, I bought mine a couple months back based on your reviews. 😊
@Jemolian
@Jemolian 9 ай бұрын
On the website, the irradiance of the pod on contact is 40mw, biomax 450 is 160 mW at 6”, normally it is higher for panels, you can see the website for reference. It’s best to be further way for panels as the irradiance may be too high if you are too close.
@NE_11111
@NE_11111 9 ай бұрын
@@Jemolian thank you!! That makes sense. I have used red light beds at commercial facilities and laying on my back, the lights are very close. I will keep the 450 at minimum 6 inches … my plan is to eventually hook up another one to it! Thank you again.
@LightTherapyInsiders
@LightTherapyInsiders 9 ай бұрын
Thank you :) Oh I mean it was virtually none in the areas that were not over or very close to the LEDs. You are still getting light over the LEDs. So the same would be true for the panels - the spaces between the LED's will not have much light coverage if you are pressed up agaisnt it. However the panels do have larger 'bulbs' and are often closely spaced, plus they are a lot more powerful than a mat. Also - there is a school of thought saying that the light photons disperse when they hit the body, so it may not be an issue anyway.

I noticed the Hooga pod product listing has a few discrepancies on its website. One spot says 61" and another says 63" long. Also, in one spot it says 3 in 1 chip technology (1RL:2NIR) (Each light bead has 3 chips, 2 near infrared to 1 red for superior power output and even light coverage) but later it states the device has a 4RL:1NIR ratio (Clinically proven wavelengths of 660nm & 850nm 4:1 ratio), which is quite different. It also advertises as an FDA listed class 2 device but at the bottom of the website has this disclaimer: The statements on this website have not been evaluated by the FDA (U.S. Food & Drug Administration). Our products are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. Our products are low-risk, general wellness / fitness products that do not require FDA clearance, in accordance with the “General Wellness: Policy on Low Risk Devices” draft released January 20, 2015.

Hi Alex! I'm new to red light therapy and my gym has something called the "Cocoon Deluxe Fitness Pod". It's like a little personal sauna pod you lie down in that uses dry heat, infrared heat, and vibrates like a massage chair! There are a bunch of red light bulbs down the middle in there and I have no idea if they're just for decoration. There isn't a whole bunch of info on it online and there are so many different versions of the pod.. the most I could find on the wavelengths was a single sentence: "Ambient Red Chromo Light Therapy improves cellular function generated by wavelengths (630-850 nm)". Not sure how much I believe it though. I really enjoyed your video on the Beauty Angel and I was wondering if you could also review it but it might be hard to find. If it really works I'd be over the moon!

I am looking something easy to use for pain m for my husband, he became paraplegic 13 years ago, and due to no movement from waist down, he has crazy peripheral neuropathy pains. Also by using upper body all the time, he gets some shoulder pains , etc… i was thinking that belt i could just wrap on certain area , just wanted to know if it’s powerful enough, to heal joints, etc…. Hey. So my experience is very limited - just this review - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ra5xqcaorJ22fIU.html and this product - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/l7ukkrCCt7adpaM.html - the latter is something my wife has used for her lower back. I'm sorry to hear about your husbands condition, the poor guy :( The issue with the belts is that they are quite under powered compared to panels. BUT on the flip side, you can use them right up against the body. You may want to ask or search our FB group - facebook.com/groups/lighttherapyinsiders - for more on neuropathy (it's not something I'm familiar with sorry). As for what product to go for, well I'm a little stumped here. A large mat - like the Hooga or MitoRed light options - could be easier to use. But there is the concern that it is underpowered and you don't get the results you are expecting. Otherwise you go for a small panel, but then you have to move it around to get full body coverage. Maybe put up a post in our FB group and see if anyone else has experience with this.

Light intensity does weaken as you move away from the source - this is known as the inverse square law. As for laterally moving away from the LED then yes we also see a drop off in power as the LED is designed to emit light outwards, not laterally.

One question, when you did this Hooga POD review about 6 months ago I think Hooga was literally in the process of updating the model, which they have now done. One reason I am considering a smaller mat, is as part of my illness, I have light sensitivity. I can no longer tolerate sitting in front of my panel, even with my eyes covered as the light penetrates. I am also in bed a lot. I can't afford, nor do I have space for a fancy stand that goes over the bed, so the portability of a mat is really helpful. I can see why cheaper mats might be an option for people who have mobility issues or spend a lot of time in bed etc if they can't afford a panel with an over the bed stand. Some red light has got to be better than none!

Hi Alex! So what is better -hooga mat with 1800 led lights or mito with 2320 led lights?

I haven't used the mito. But it does have more LEDs so that is a win.

Would you rather have an HG300 for $140 or a HG200 for $120? First time buyer. Getting the face and belly is most important. What say you?

This video has me curious about the MitoPod, because it has 66% near infrared and 33% red light. It seems like he would prefer that blanket to the Hooga Pod.

Hey, I use the Hopoo Color device - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/d7dxpbhq1rLNaJs.html - there is an app, I need to try that (it requires some handy man DIY construction to get it fully setup) so I will test that and share a review in time.

Hi Alex. I have the opportunity to buy the used flexbeam at a really good price. I'll be using mostly for my lower back, but also my shoulder and knee. Does it really work, and is it worth $375 Canadian? Will the flexbeam penetrate the skin in order to treat muscle, joints and ligaments? Should I save my money and buy the kineon?
@LightTherapyInsiders

I researched this company, it looks like they use 660 nm "strength" which is the most effect. A lot of the masks and other products out there use a weaker strength. I think this company might be legit.
