It's uncanny how well they cast Iceman for Generation Kill.
@janglenutter38205 жыл бұрын
Several of the marines helped with casting, and Rudy Reyes played himself.

The dude that played Rolling Stone looks just like him. And if you watch the behind the scenes the actor that plays him is watching the real Rolling Stone who wrote for the television series, I guess doing a character study. You can see how much they look alike. It looks so awkward but it is kind cool they went that far the do it justice.

He is now a Master Sergeant and is the special skills operations chief at the Army’s airborne school at Fort Benning, Georgia. He is responsible for "making sure that Marines who attend the program receive the necessary skills and meet their requirements. He also regularly leaps from C-130s to reinforce proper jump techniques."

How he was never forcefully given orders to go to ocs is beyond me. The guy was thinking like a major when he was an e6
@QuaxhMedia11 жыл бұрын
Are you freaking kidding me? He is a speaker on post-combat stress issues for the Heroes and Healthy Families organization. He is also an amazing Marine..nicknamed the "Iceman" by his colleagues, for his ability to stay calm in battle and his overall military competency. He was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal for his role in taking out an enemy missile battery in Afghanistan. Combat Meritorious Promotion for actions in Iraq. Learn about him first, before judging him.

The job of soldier is one that in many ways conflicts with the job of being a responsible citizen. There needs to be an outlet for cultivating the fierce warrior spirit and allowing it to thrive that doesn't conflict with the health and normal order of society. What that looks like no one knows, but we need to find ways of creating spaces for mutually exclusive mentalities that are independently critical for the collective health of the society.

I really appreciate Gunny Colbert referring to the problem(s) @ hand as Post Traumatic Stress SYNDROME........NOT! Post Traumatic Stress DISORDER! This deferral to it being a syndrome instead of a disorder is that it, 1) Gives it a more common, less stigmatized, publically recognized connotation, & 2) It eases the self-conscious angst the sufferer must constantly feel about him or herself, because that's the last thing one wants to have to experience in trying to deal w/this destructive mindset.

A lot of us don't agree with war in Iraq lol. During the invasion they rushed the Marines into Baghdad without a clear plan or the proper resources. I am part of the 2nd Battalion 5th Marine Regiment. We spent most of the war in Ramadi which is about 60 miles west of Baghdad but still held a shitload of insurgents. There is no reason for us soldiers to be in Iraq anymore. -Cpl Ian Overacker 2/5 USMC
