Hooking More Than Just Trout At Derwent Reservoir In Co. Durham!

Lure fishing for reservoir trout, I visited Derwent reservoir for the first time in 34 years, back then it was a fly fishing only water and we used to fish from boats that could be hired. Now the water is any method so I thought I'd give the trout a go on lures. It was a hard going with a few disasters one of which was getting a hook embedded in my finger, stick around until the end to see how I get it out!

Never fished Derwent for years either. Last time I was with my late dad. I'd heard NWL had changed their catch policy too but wasn't sure to what exactly. But no catch and release at all!? Not sure if that's a good thing or not....

It was good to be back and different not fishing the fly. Catch and release is allowed when fishing fly with barbless hooks but not any other method. I’ll go back and fish lure’s again at some point or even try for pike properly later in the year👍🏻.

Pike and Perch in the Derwent Reservoir....? Oh my ... and you're welcome. The Roach haven't been in there for ever but I know nothing about how they got into the water either, lol

@@TheHopefulAngler You sound very local - I live down the river from Consett and if you ever want to fish my pond just let me know. There are some big carp and perch in there which I never see until it gets fished. There's also a sturgeon which is 5+ feet long.

If you fish the South side your in Durham, If you fish the North side your in Northumberland

I did mate, it was a fuel issue the dealer cleaned the carb a couple of times and touch wood it’s been OK so far. Apparently getting more common in carburettor engines with the newer leaner fuels. I’ll get some additive I think 👍🏻
