Fun fact about Stolas' song, the singer and va Bryce Pinkham decided that he wanted to do it all in one take with no cuts. They only did 4 takes until they ended up with this final, and both the singer and the vocal director Richard Horvitz were crying during the production because of how emotional the scene was. If that doesn't speak to how connected this team is to their characters I don't know what will. Amazing reaction as always, keep up the good work ❤

It really does seem that Blitz is using Stolas even in the last episode just to get in to the club. But to see how hurt he was when he saw how embarrassed Stolas was. They certainly have a confusing relationship.

Fun fact, if you didn't know. That's the VA for Jafar as Stolas' father. And Blitzo's father too, incidentally. On the topic of Blitzo and Stolas, it seems those two are stuck in a bit of a cycle. Blitzo starts looking for personal gain, using Stolas as a means to a ends. But by the end of it, he finds a genuinely connection to him. However, he's so badly damaged because of his other relationships, family included, that he can't believe he's worthy of love.

Stolas Sings is honestly such a beautiful song. The way you can hear all the emotion in his voice when he sings is both impressive (from a performance point of view) and tragic. That song really gave me chills.

So this episode really helped justify my analysis of Blitz’s and Stolas’ relationship. Stolas is more or less oblivious to how an actual relationship functions. From his throne, to his marriage, to pretty much everyone he knows is FORCED to act a certain way around him. With the SOLE exception of Octavia his daughter. (Who he notably smiled at when he went to check on her the night of the party.) Blitz DID feel regret about stealing the Grim Moire from someone who trusted him and turned it into a “business” transaction. And yes Stolas did figure it out why they had the transaction pretty much immediately after, but didn’t recognize it as a problem to their relationship. Hence to why the end of the Ozzie episode played out the way it did. Blitz and Stolas DO have a path forward, but the same thing I said last time stays true. Stolas needs to understand he wants more out of a relationship with Blitz and has to provide him an option instead of demanding it like he has been doing through most of the show. Especially since Blitz has lost so much already from a family that he no longer has, and Vizarolli his performing partner. Not to mention whatever gaslighting he’s endured from not just them, but also Verosika when they dated. (There’s a LOT of signs she did much more to Blitz to hurt him and he’s quiet about it.) At the very least both are out of their toxic relationships and both will likely have to save each other from what remains of it.

It would seem Vivzie has an interest in Aladdin-related people to take part in Helluva Boss. First it was James Monroe Iglehart as Asmodeous, now we got THE Jonathan Freeman as King Paimon. The moment I heard him say the words, “Isn’t that fun?” I was like, “Yup. That’s Jafar.”

Knowing that Stolas liked and respected Blitzø from the start of their relationship makes what Blitzø thinks of their agreement hurt so much more. Hearing him say things to Stolas along the lines of, "It's obvious that you just use me as your perverse escape from reality" are heartbreaking because in actuality, Stolas had always held onto the false hope that Blitzø had always wanted him as a partner, not just an asset to the mortal world.

I think there's genuine potential for Stolas and Blitz to work as a healthy relationship, but it will probably take a LOT of time and character development for it to happen. Blitz is hard to read because he hides his vulnerability behind a thick layer of toxicity and selfishness, but there ARE signs that he has developed feelings for Stolas beyond their transactional affair (including how hurt he was by the end of episode 7). And Stolas obviously had feelings for him since the very beginning but he's completely clueless to how his privilege affects Blitz and how to communicate with him effectively. I'm pretty sure the show intends for them to become a couple by the end of the series, or at least for them to try to make it work eventually. Yes, they're a toxic mess right now, but I'm curious to see what their dynamic will look like if they manage to remove the book deal from the equation (maybe using the asmodean crystals?)

There's a lot that's being shown about their relationship in these past two episodes. On one hand, Stolas who's had a crush from the beginning and after years it faded until Blitzø was sneaking into his room, which Stolas took as Blitzø wanting him, and his crush rekindled. Blitzø on the other hand come to get the book, having remembered that from their childhood, and felt bad when Stolas opened up and slept with him. It did become transactional, both having been fine with it for a time, but Stolas wants more, looking back at the previous episode, he did offer wine yes, but when Blitzø said he didn't want to sleep together, he offered that they could talk, or watch a movie, or cuddle, just some companionship and closeness. Blitzø however, who also started seeing a connection between them, which we know because of his drug trip thanks to Agents One and Two, though not wanting to admit it, as well as thinking himself inadequate, told Stolas that he shouldn't pretend, not seeing that maybe there's something between them, which does partially happen because Stolas didn't help to defend him at Ozzie's, despite both of them now in the spotlight. It's easier for Blitzø to defend Moxie when all the attention was on Moxie, but when they have the whole place and one of Blitzø's ex's there, and the Stolas being easily recognizable, it was a recipe for disaster. At the same time though, Blitzø only invited Stolas to spy on Millie and Moxie, like didn't want to invite him when on the phone, and was brushing off every chance Stolas attempted to talk to him, showing no interest in conversing. They may want each other, but at the same time, they aren't communicating in a way that'll help them get past this. Though with what happened, it makes me wonder what will happen. I don't expect Stolas to just take his grimoire away, but it is a possibility, whether because he's hurt, or possibly because he'll have to leave his home because of Stella, as Striker is still out there, hired by her. Maybe she might even try to take Octavia who isn't going to want to leave Stolas, not after Loo Loo Land. Also as a side note, you don't have to worry about copyright for your reactions to these as Vivzie is alright with it, and it's not under a company or anything.

I think the reason Stolas dove headfirst into this relationship with Blitzø, despite the fact that Blitzø was clearly using him, is that it was the only one where someone was tending to his needs. Sure, Blitzø was just doing it for the book, but for a man who has always just gone along with others’ wishes, that must have felt truly special.

Stella has clearly hit stolas before it would have been so hard for him to stand up to her like that

I think Blitz hates the Circus now (probably something happened, and that's why Fizzarolli has robot limbs), he changed his name to Blitz from Blitzo and has some serious self-hatred (and probably guilt too). The killing business is no surprise he loved blood and pirates as a kid, and being an assassin is not too far from that.

The only thing I can really say about this episode I enjoy is that it's giving us context to Stolas and Blitz' relationship that we never had before. Toxic as it is. Like we thought Stolas was tying to feel love in a loveless relationship (in fairness, who *could* love that woman...) and going against his marriage, but in truth he felt something with Blitz that he never got with Stella. On top of the note that they were forced to marry, neither were really loyal to one another to begin with.

The Crystals that were shown on the book Stolas had during his song are called Asmodeus crystals and there what Succubus’ use to go to the human world all on their own whenever they want

Something I thought was really neat about this episode, the background music for the scenes with baby Stolas is “Stolas Speaks”, from episode one, but in a major key. And then in Stolas’s song (which adds lyrics Stolas Speaks), after the line “your time on stage” when he starts singing about Blitzo, the song shifts from minor to major key again, and then switches back after the line “I’m the fool who believes when you look in my eyes”

Back during the Loo Loo Land episode, I commented that we shouldn't judge Stella's behaviour as being the norm, as the situation was one where she could be justifiably upset at Stolas, and her indifference to Octavia might just be a symptom of that. ...I gave her WAAAAY to much benefit of the doubt.

They've both definitely been using each other, they're both equally guilty of that. And I think both of them have, on some level, realized that it *could* be more... Stolas wants more, but proved at Ozzie's not willing yet to fight for Blitzø. Meanwhile, Blitzø desperately wants to feel loved but he's also not capable of having or maintaining the healthy relationship he wants.

Hell yeah, i've been waiting for your reaction to the first HB season 2 episode David! when i first watched it i just knew that it was gonna be every bit of epic as i thought it would be which it was! Seeing Stolas and Blitz as kids was awesome, and i still can't believe that Paimon was voiced by Jonathan Freeman the same voice actor as Jafar from Disney's Aladdin! and the scene where Stolas sings was so fantastic i give major props to his VA for the amazing vocals! And the ending where Stolas finally stood up to Stella felt ever so satisfying!

This episode made me very curious about Stella and her family. No doubt she's now confirmed to be manipulative and abusive, and she was probably crazy as a child too. I wonder what type of life she had growing up, and how her brother Andrealphus could represent such a threat to Stolas that she mentions him during the fight. This season is going to be really interesting. I'm sure Stella's family is FULL of crazy people.

I’m guessing the plot of the next episode is this: Octavia steals the Grimoire and asks it to take her to the stars. She means the stars Stolas took her to in ep 2, but it takes her to Hollywood. So Blitzø and the gang and Stolas have to go find her. So Blitzø and Stolas will probably have to work together in S2E2, and I’m hoping they at least try to resolve some of their issues here.

When he sings "You have no choice!" He means his feelings for Blitz. He knows it might just be one way and that it's bad for him but he can't stop loving him.

I just realize Blitzø is more or less using him everytime he calls him but makes Stolas feel bad for wanting intimacy all the time.

Poor Stolas. He’s just a victim in everything because he’s so pure.

No matter how many times I listen to a Stolas song I still get shivers. Every time.

This episode in particular demonstrates how much of Stolas' character is to "go along with" and why. His upbringing is full of lonliness in childhood and quasi abuse/definite nonconsent ("he just lies there staring at the wall!" *shudder*.)in early martiage...then 17 entire years of no one ever touching him at all after Via's birth. Now at age 36 he has the emotional/romantic sense and knowledge of a junior high schooler. The pair of them come from such ridiculously different backgrounds that they literally misinterpret each other's words in the same language, never mind mannerisms and body language. Baby Stolas is genuinely smitten but doesn't realize his tone of voice is kinda demeaning/sarcastic when he questions the "Circus office" "Well I hope I qualify!" (God I LOVE THOSE BABIES. Baby Fizz too!!) Blitzo has grown up surrounded by people and could not fathom the lonliness of Stolas basically raised only by a butler. Meeting Blitz meant SO MUCH MORE to Stolas than vice versa and neither of them realized this properly!

I think the fact that Stolas could have taught blitz to use the Asmodean crystals listed in the books to travel to and from the human world but kept himself as the resource shows that he knows hes being used but gives in to it any way.

The relationship is transactional, but Blitz also feels trapped by it - we saw him with the golden chains on. Because without the book his company dies and all his ego and success and self-worth is in that business.

My life didn't go the Blitzo route or the Stolas route precisely. Growing up, I was more or less equally good at everything (I know, what a horrible problem to have, wah wah), but I was encouraged the most in the most visible talents. I got into a good music school, then continued that in college because it was the natural progression of things (even though I was seriously interested in pursuing engineering or a medical field). Turned out, I'm not nearly competitive enough to make it as a musician, and I hate practicing. But I wasn't really allowed to just drop the music, nor did I want to. So now I'm working towards a master's in music therapy, incorporating music and health and brains and social services all at once. It's different from the original dream, but the original dream wasn't totally mine to begin with anyway, and I'm still in the music field. So a little of column A and a little of column B.

This is the second time they end an episode with a depressed Character. It must have taken so much energy to stand up to Stella for Stolas. I am not a person that likes to argue, the complete opposite. I start shaking and if it goes on for too long, I start crying. But still, there are some conflicts that we can't and shouldn't run from.
