I know people are arguing about McDaniels and Kleber... but I can honestly see some shades of Kirilenko to his game, and the Bulls should try to develop him into a defensive monster like AK47 was. Obviously I'm not saying Buzelis is going to be a 5X5 God like AK47 was..... but if they can get him to watch film of Kirilenko, I'd be REALLY happy. I'm Australian, so I'm a new Bulls fan because of Giddey. I think Giddey and Buzelis could be two awesome foundational building blocks for a rebuild. Buzelis and Pat Williams can cover for some of Giddey and Coby's defensive shortcomings.... and those four alone will be fun as fuck to watch. 💪💪

As a guy who’s done at home NBA scouting for 35 years, I got to say how much I appreciate your approach and breakdowns. It’s not that I agree with everything, but it is easy to see where your opinion is generated from. I’d love if you would add a bit more of the athletic elements that tend to get missed (and really matter). I.e. flexibility, suddenness, hand size/dexterity, and playing position (essentially how low they can play - one of the early indicators that Giannis was a different animal as a player).

It’s said for like, most prospects , but adding some strength I think will benefit just about every part of his game. It will help with his driving game as he’ll hopefully be able to bump guys more often, it will help with his on-ball defense a lot (I don’t think his feet are superr slow and I actually think his hips are pretty damn good and he’s technically pretty sound) helping him absorb contact and stand his ground, and it may even help his shooting improve from deeper range as it gets a bit easier for him to get the ball there.

This might be one of the players I would be ok with if the rockets get him at 3. He a stretch four in my opinion so he could play with Sengun and Jabari in certain lineups with Ime and he is a good driver and a solid rim protector. But again for us it would be risky to draft him because we don’t need anymore non shooters. I think him and Franz are similar players so he one of the guys could be a borderline line all star. I could see his floor if he gets the shooting down maybe Naz Ried a six man

@@VietnamvetOGif jaden mcdaniels wasnt a top tier defender that would change a lot Matas isnt that
@whoosh5469Ай бұрын
@@VietnamvetOG Matas is nowhere close to Jaden as a lateral mover or on-ball defender. He lacks the fluidity and ability to play through contact to be a top-end wing option as of now. Playing him as a stand still shooter with the ability to guard in low-man optimizes him as a prospect, and if at some point he can begin to attack close outs, he could be a truly elite forward, but he hasn’t shown enough evidence of that up to this point.
@VietnamvetOGАй бұрын
@@Htiy why was jaden drafted at 28 his year? He developed to be what he was but they have the same frame and similar athleticism. Matas is more skilled athletically but that mold of player should be heralded.
@VietnamvetOGАй бұрын
@@whoosh5469 yes jaden also has been in the league for four years, there’s a reason why he was barely a first round pick off his lone season in college. Matas is 19 years old and you just have to look at his growth from high school to the g to understand he is capable of being that calibre of player having the same frame and actually being more naturally talented offensively.
@RegDolla_Ай бұрын
What makes Matas a better prospect than Tidjane Saluan? I don’t really see it with Matas especially if the jumper doesn’t come around. He was underwhelming for the most part. Everything is mostly theoretical with him. Handle isn’t good, shot isn’t good, playmaking wasn’t as advertised and isn’t a good on ball defender. The best thing about him right now is his help side defense which impressed me this year but other than that he’s raw. Saluan is raw as well but I buy the shot more and I think he’s a slightly better athlete.
@chickenwinckАй бұрын
No but Tidjane is top 2 and matas top 5
@michaelahurtАй бұрын
The short answer is that the ball skills, playmaking and shot creation are there for Matas and not for Tidjane. It's hard to see Salaun being anything more than a role player -- albeit a high end one -- because there's nothing there in terms of ball handling and passing. His vision is limited and he's a straight-line driver vs closeouts. There isn't much to build on. While it might be underwhelming vs expectations, Buzelis is clearly very comfortable with the ball even if he needs to tighten up his handle and he shows good vision and shows some ability to create (mid-range) shots off the dribble. I also think it's very easy to see rapid improvements in his on ball game as he gains weight/strength and even if he isn't a primary. We know tertiary creation ability is still important in the playoffs. He's also a high feel player and we've seen a lot of those guys overperform their draft position in recent years. Another big one is scoring versatility. Not saying this will happen by any means but a lot of "missed" prospects like Kawhi and Jokic had a wide range of ways they could score even though they weren't super effective at it. (Anthony Edwards is the best example of this even though he wasn't overlooked. Obviously.) The thinking being that creating the shot is the hard part so it's more important developmentally that the moves are there than the results. Defensively it's mostly preference I think. Salaun is probably better in most schemes but Buzelis has some extra rim protection that is really important in rotation heavy defenses

@brodiestephens419Ай бұрын
I like it as an idea. Anyone that knows the Thunder organisation knows they're playing Chet at the five. Mainstream media keep banging on about OKC needing a center, but with the playstyle they have committed to (playing Chet at the five).... someone like Buzelis is what they actually need. Their playstyle got them to the #1 seed in the stacked Western Conference, so they're not going to abandon it by going after Clingon, Edey, or any other slow big man. I like the fit of Buzelis, and I think conceptually, that's what they were hoping Ousmane Dieng could become. If they don't think Ous can fill that role, I'd be pretty happy if they took Buzelis as a second crack at finding the long stretch four who can do all the Thunder prerequisites - dribble, pass, shoot, and defend.
