This is one of the classic old TV shows broadcast on ABC from April 1963 to September 1964. The first season was recorded in the fall of 1962 at Syracuse University in New York. It even spawned 2 folk music magazines & lead to such as Time Look magazines reporting on the folk craze, calling Hootenanny the "final proof that folk music has gone big-time."

The folk music revival got started with the Kingston Trio in 1958 and continued on for a few years, primarily through college students. It was popular enough to lead to this TV series...then came the Beatles in 1964, and that was it. I just remembered this show for no particular reason, and looked it up.

I loved this show when I was 14 years old. Such a change from the processed pop of the late 50s and early 60s.
