Today was alot of fun with MattDBott from KZfaq at Chollas RC Flyers. Matt contacted me wanting help with his 230s and 330s helicopters. He is new to the hobby and needed some minor tuning and proof that his stuff could shred. So I took the time to help him a bit and grab the camera for some things I'd like to show everyone in the heli community about the Blade 330s. Please click this link to purchase your new Blade helicopter from Horizon Hobby. www.tkqlhce.com/click-9278956...

But in doing the maiden flight this morning I was doing a range check and noticed i was getting a small number of holds!! After adjusting the antennas it reduces but I still got 1 hold, I went ahead and flew but held back because if the range check!! Have you any advice please, saying that after following your tail tips mine was great so thanks for that great advice👍😄

Hi there, i was wondering if you can help me.. I recently bought a 3 Bladed Kraken, and im experiencing the tail when pitching hard upward it doesn't seem to hold very well, kicking left, and it make a weird straining noise.. Although i raised the common gain and it helps it still makes the straining noise but then with that i know the gain is too high as it buzzes.. I am positive my mechanics are perfect as i double checked everything.. Im using Vbar Neo with VbcT.. thanks Chris

I am a newbie and this is important to know. Does downscaling the "Agility" value in Forward Programming have any influence in micro processing to hold the bird stable (counter reaction of the flight controller without the testpilot making any stick movements on the transmitter)?

Hello, I'm new to helis and I'm spending my time with Realflight 9 working on grooming my fundamentals for flying my new Blade 230s V2 heli that I've purchased. I'm looking to start some real flying this week up here on the Central Coast, weather permitting. I'm already looking forward to flying the next level heli (330s) and have a question. I bought the the latest spektrum DX6 G3 and my menu options don't seem to match what you're showing on the DX8? Or is it that I'm just not grasping what the menus are telling me? I've downloaded the Spektrum setup for the 330s already so I was just trying to take advantage of your knowledge proactively on your video. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated

You're quite a whiz at dialing these helicopters in. I currently have 14 Blade helis in my fleet (mcx2, Nano CPS, two Nano S2, 120sr, 120s2, 200s, 230s w/ md500 fuse, 230s w/ Airwolf fuse, stock 230s, 230s v2, 150s, Mcpx bl2, and older 450 3d. I don't do any aerobatics other than a few really sloppy flips 5 mistakes off the ground. I'm too old and my reflexes and mental processing speed are too slow for all that. I get disoriented way to easy for 3d. I am going to get a 330s as soon as they are back in stock to put a scale md500 fuselage on. When you put the tail boom back on and put the tail servo on the tube, it is not in the same location. Cross the tail blades like a V. Point them at the canopy. Turn the heli on and don’t move it. The bottom blade of the V should be pointed alittle at the boom. You need a little right pitch in the tail. The tail slider yoke will be in the center of the tail shaft. Guaranteed it is not correct if the tail is wagging. This is the first step to any helicopter.

Put the PID back to default. It’s not a needed adjustment if the tail rotor neutral pitch is correct.

Hi, i just got my 330s yesterday. This is my second one from horizon. the first one had a bad esc. Sent it back and got a refund. Waited 5 months for the new one to come. This one is strange it takes off and flies ok but after 30 seconds or so in normal mode the swash tilts back and stays there it gets very scary i was luck to get it back on the ground. Its like the self leveling is not working correctly. I downloaded the settings for the 330s from the spektrum site and i have the updated version on my dx6 with forward programming. Any thoughts?
@CoeShow619
@CoeShow619 3 жыл бұрын
Go to forward programing with the heli on. Go to system set up. Click on calibrate. Click on begin. Do not move the heli and make sure it is flat as if it was in a hover. It’s a heli. It takes tubing. The more people send them back, the more they will quit making this stuff. Just try calibrating, and fly again. Also, in normal mode, set your throttle to 63% for all 5 positions. It will help stabilize it.

Hey I need help with my 330s. I dont do any 3d, just sport and scale with a few flips and loops here and there. In normal mode I have a slight tail wag. Stunt 1 and stunt 2 are rock solid. I did the longer servo arm, 2° right pitch on tail rotor. Everything is tight and moves freely. I also did the firmware update a while back so it can actually be flown in normal mode with stability turned on. My pid gains are as follows: Normal mode (stability ON) P 85 I 90 D 90 Stunt 1 and stunt 2 (stability off) P 80 I 90 D 90 I've lowered the p and i gains as low as 70 but nothing semed to get rid of the very slight wag in normal mode. Its not a bad wag, but enough to notice it and drive me nuts. Any suggestions?
@CoeShow619
@CoeShow619 11 ай бұрын
Take the pushrod link off the servo arm and see if everything moves freely. There can be no friction or drag on that tail rotor pushrod. Lube the tail shaft. Set your headspeed higher or lower to deal with a slight wag. Mine is 0,65,65,65,65. I don’t change PID on the 330s. Your belt can be too tight or too loose. Something could just be out of wack. It’s a beginner low head speed heli. It’s just meant to get you going. Adjusting the 6250 is a long process. It forces you to learn what PID is. P is the hold now. I is the hold when you are on the stick, and d is the response and how sharp it is. You always deal with P first. Take P up till it wags fast. Then take it back down where it doesn’t. It takes a long time, if ever. It’s too infinite. You most likely need to take the P up in actuality. It may have wag because it’s lazy. P speeds it up. Hope it helps.
@CoeShow619
@CoeShow619 11 ай бұрын
Oh man. Just saw you updated it. Holy moly. If you put the 5.6 open source in it, it’s not the same. Put the 330s firmware in it. Your problem was you assigned switch B to gear. You need to assign Flightmode to Gear to get Stability to work in normal mode. It’s a bug no one has ever fixed.
@mickeymurrs
@mickeymurrs 11 ай бұрын
Hey thanks for your suggestions. I now have a better understanding of what p, i , and d gain adjustments actually do. Im not sure which firmware i have in the heli. I have one of the first 330s that came out that had hardly any moveability if safe was on. Someone in a forum posted a link to a horizon hobby beta firmware for the 330s that was supposed to fix that. Well it did fix it. I can adjust the bank angle limits in forward programming and they actually work. My 330s flies like a hot rod 230s with more bank angle. I'll have to dig up the old thread where i got that link to see what firmware version i downloaded. In the meantime, I'll up the p gain in normal mode in 5% increments while I'm at work tomorrow and see how it goes. My headspeed in normal mode is 65 straight across. I'll bump it up to 68 or 69 and see if that helps. Thanks again.
@mickeymurrs
@mickeymurrs 11 ай бұрын
Ok so I checked all the tail linkage and slider, all was smooth and easy. Then I took it out and did some adjustments with the p gain. I started at 80, went up as high as 110, then as low as 70. There didn't seem to be any difference. When I first got this heli, it hardly had any maneuverability at all in safe mode. Changing numbers in forward programming did nothing. Then i downloaded the firmware from horizon and installed it to the heli and everything was wonderful. This was before the 2nd release of the 330s and this firmware was a beta firmware. It kinda seems like the pid gain adjustments are still locked, but here is what i found. Last night i was enjoying some cocktails on the couch and my 330s was sitting on the table in front of me. Why it never occurred to me before, I don't know, but I noticed that the leading edges of the tail blades were slightly rough and a few tiny chingers from rocks or whatever. I put on a new set of tail blades and then this morning when i was sober, I took it outside and hovered in safe mode. Tail wag is almost 100% gone. Now I'll go back and play with p gain and see it i can get it perfect. Lesson learned. Don't overlook the obvious. No amount of gain adjust will fix an out of balance tail rotor.
@CoeShow619
@CoeShow619 11 ай бұрын
@@mickeymurrs ah the helicopter, and yeah man, cocktails tend to fix my stuff too. Open your mind and calm down with a drink. Look at it and nail the issue. Sweet man, that is great to hear. Yeah the numbers are way too infinite with that 6250 too. In Safe mode it limits the helicopter to bank angle, so it will never be quick. Get yourself flying in stunt 1 with about a 75% throttle curve across the board. Also make sure your swash plate is level when you are in Hold mode. It will most likely be different in Safe mode. You can adjust the trim for safe mode in forward programming under Safe, then attitude trim. It’s probably already at 250 or -250. It’s a trip. Play with those numbers. Adjust roll first and get it nailed, then do the pitch which is basically forward and backward not collective pitch. Gotta get you well from the Horizonitis. Get out of Safe, then move on up in the game with another helicopter.

Just an update on my 330S. After setting up a new profile in my DX6 and not having any mixing the radio programming, it now flies great. I set it up just as the manual said with the exception of the head speeds. I turned all three modes down a little. I have no tail wag in any modes and it flies very smooth. Do not use the download from the Spektrum site for a DX6. It may work on other radios but who knows. I did notice the canopy fits very tight on the sides and hits the servo arm. I trimmed my conopy back a bit so the arm is free. I did try to heat it up and bend it but that did not work. I am very happy that I don't have to send it back because I really like this bird. I love my 230S as well. Thanks to everyone for the input!

@@FloridaRC_Adventures I called horizon and he told me to not have any mixing on in the radio. There is no mention of mixing in the manual. Apparently on a dx6 there is no panic mode, only self leveling and the mixing values will throw the controller on the heli off.

How do I make it safe flight on all flight modes?
@CoeShow619
@CoeShow619 Жыл бұрын
Hi, go to forward programming, go to Safe, click on it, now flip your flight mode switch, get out of hold if you are in it, see it change the mode on screen? Now select safe for all. If it wanders, use the attitude trim function in there to correct it. That’s it.

Might be called stability, and turn it on. Sorry. I do so many different systems and I’m away right now.

Hello, Justin: I have a question for you. I am trying to get 12 degrees of positive and negative collective pitch on my Blade 330S. I have followed along with Tom Coswell's video and this is where I have gotten stuck. Well, sort of. The best I can do is 12 degrees positive and 6 degrees negative. I can get more negative but then I have way too much positive. So I stay at an acceptable medium. 12+ and 6-. I contacted Horizon Support and the tech I worked with has a 480 and the best he can get is 12 degrees positive and 6 degrees negative. Watching Tom Coswell, he can get 12 degrees up and down. Any thoughts from your side? I can work with 12+ and 6- on the 330s. After all I consider myself a newbie in this hobby. For me right now this limitation is probably a good thing. I Still have much to learn. I watch and enjoy your videos often.

I have same heli. I run 13.5. Go to forward programming, set up, swash plate, AFR at roll , put huge on and take it to 12 degrees cyclic left or right. Then match that number to pitch. Then increase the collective number below those two numbers to get 13 degrees or more of collective. The differential number is in case you have more collective one way than the other. Remember to start in Hold Mode, no Safe, linear pitch curve. O, 25,50,75,100. Put at center stick and verify the blades are flat 0 degrees. Adjust if necessary first.

Hello, Justin: I am in the AFR Menu and only have Roll, Pitch, Collective and Differential as options. How would I turn "huge" on? I am at version 5.05.00 for the FC6250HX. Using the DX6 Radio - TX Version 8.1

@@CoeShow619 I suppose that is my question? From your initial response you indicated from the AFR Menu at Roll, turn huge on and take it to 12 degrees . . . , We're you thinking of something else maybe?

I have tried to trim it on the transmitters but if i move it more than 3 clicks it start to go the other way ....... I think this must be the problem ...... The thing I don't understand is why Horizon doesn't do this from the factory. It's given the 330S a bad rap and not everyone understands programming like CoeShow does, so you think the heli is bad but it just needs to be reprogrammed. This guy is great.

GrotrianSeiler To do is to learn. You have to learn how it all works. Helis are about putting in the time. The program is easy, you just have to learn. Watch a drone PID tune video. Learn what P I and D do. It’s not NASA yet. Haha

Hello my friend I wish I saw your videos before I took mine out. I took mine out for a first hover test it was all over the place before it got off the ground. Once I got it up it flew off way to the right and I couldn't get it under control and then it went down and broke all the props and linkage. I contacted my HH rep and mind you I pay for this contact and he told me to send it in and HH will look it over and let me know the cost. I said im not paying for crap this copter is out of control and went off like a witch on a broom. I come to find out that there are issues with firmware updates on the gyro and the swash plates aren't leveled and the attitude trim is not set right from the factory. Im so pissed off and then he said if I send it in it can take up to a year for it to come back to me!! I have read from others on KZfaq having all the same issues and HH doesnt do a firmware update on the gyro and they dont level the swash plate or set it to be correct once they return it. Im so not sending it back to them but I have requested that they allow my local hobby shop who is qualified to fix it and im not paying crap to fix what they already know there is issues with this copter from there china factory!! Im awaiting a response now from my personal contact bc im so pissed off about it.

Nothing wrong with that helicopter out of the box. It’s not a drone with gps. It drifts as a helicopter does. Probably invest in a simulator and learn on that first. The more people bad mouth perfectly good products, the more it ruins the hobby and fun for others. It’s hard at first to ride a bicycle too. Even harder to ride a wheelie. So it’s all learning. You won’t get off the ground for a month if you are doing it right. No hurry here. It’s helicopters. The hardest RC anything there is. They have come a very long way. You would have spent 3 grand to splatter it 20 years ago. So good luck learning.
