You Gotta love the thunderjaw. Its like the designers looked at the T-Rex in Jurassic Park and said, This guy's too nerfed. He needs a rocket launcher, orbital bombardment capabilities, and laser cannons.

Sadly it took about ten minutes and almost all my healing resources to kill my first thunder jaw.

There's a trick that can be used to easily kill the Thunderjaw without even getting hit by him. Just go to the Sun Furrows Hunting Grounds and jump to the lower level of the hill (you can't shoot from the highest spot since it's a starting point for hunting trials). Then start shooting at the Thunderjaw located below. Use tearblast arrows to get rid of his disc launchers and cannons first and he won't be able to attack you. Even if he gets very close, there's nothing he can do from below (his only range attack left is laser sweep but it shouldn't hit you through the rocks). Just watch out for Ravagers and Watchers wandering around. Most of the time they will remain in yellow state and won't get close to you but occasionally one of them may get close enough to attack.

I made a Thunderjaw kill another Thunderjaw today and it gave me 49% Damage Coil. I didn't realise it was the best you could get :3

Technically you can kill it instantly with blast trip wires, but where's the fun in that? (Not to mention that the blast can sometimes cause the thunder jaw to fly away majestically)

Nice! If you use the tripcaster bombs with 3 really good mods, get almost 500 damage! Insta kill almost! If you time the impact to death it's way fast. If you time the setup and then life and boom, you definitely win the fight. Nice kill! I'm level 40 and haven't gotten the lodge weapons, still is tough if not done correctly. I aggro'd 2 thunderjaws, 3 shellwalkers, some scrappers, all within a minute on accident. I was winning, got to excited and didn't realize my health was at 5 percent and poof lost 30min of gameplay. I was so close too! Damn good game.

nah the problem is that you didnt reload 3 bow again after you damaged its heart with the 3 after its exposed . you have plenty of time with slow motion to reload 3 more and shoot its heart

Just put down shock wires and some traps in one position, lure the Thunderjaw in, and enjoy the fireworks! I use damage coils on my Shadow Tripcaster, so the damage is around 520. Make sure you have enough Tripcaster ammo as well.

I have been grinding thunderjaw for days working in getting awesome mods, wanted to let everyone know after hours and hours I got a 50% damage mod, I don't remember the two other percentages on this mod, but it is possible. I also saw people mentioning mods that are greater than 50 as far as I know that's only possible on handling. My highest handling mod is 66%

nice challange! if u are asking strictly for engangement time i can cut it down to 5 sec using traps and blastwire. :) as for mods i so far have4 (50%freeze) 2 (49%damage)1 (49 corruption) 1(49 burn)2 (49handeling) 2 (49 shock) and so on i keep no mods under 45% but any ways keep up the good work i like ur vids(armour mods behave different so i dont have aprox values on those

The tactic of having multiple bows equipped for speed makes the weapons pouch upgrades more useful. I didn't bother going past having the best version of every weapon (weapons pouch lvl 2 I think), but this would be useful for a very hard play through - I imagine the Hunter Trials are no joke on that difficulty. I might play through it again on very hard when the DLC comes out.

Just took down my first one in Cauldron Zeta. Horrible arena for it, and I was way underequipped, but it took me probably 5 minutes. I didn't have Triple Shot, didn't have top shelf bows or mods, and it took all my full health potions, most of my health boost potions, and almost my entire medicine pouch, but I did it.

He has 3 Damage Mods on the Sharpshoot Bow but not the pure Damage ones. There are Damage Mods like 42% Damage 6% Handling. I'm sure he has Handling on all of them.

Awesome. I start be removing the Disc Launchers then approaching it while freezing it with Freeze Arrows. Then I go to town with the Shadow Rattler or I’ll use a Disc Launcher if it’s convenient. If I get good heart crits I can finish him quickly without having to craft more Bolts. Never timed it but probably less than 30 seconds.

Try going to the site next to the trapped tallneck where you have two Tj’s and corrupt one of them with arrows , then lay back and enjoy the show😎.Dunno why but I like corrupting one member when there is more than 1 guy.I do that with all packs/flocks.

I usually just set up 4-6 blast wires (with best 3 damage mods) in the same spot in its path and it kills it in one shot…technical you never ever go to combat with it if you are sneaky

Great video! I've been playing the game for well over a hundred hours, and am Level 37, but I rarely get Damage Coil mod drops! I have a grand total of one purple and four blue ones!!! As a result, I struggle with the most powerful machines, and have to set loads of traps, which for me, is the least enjoyable combat technique! Any advice on getting a few more Damage Coils would be greatly appreciated. Thanks...

If the timer starts when you engage the thunderjaw, then it is possible to kill it in 1 second with 15 tripwires.

it's called using a shadow rattler and shadow sling I've gotten to a point where making more ammo for the rattler isn't required at max ammo start

i kill the thunjaw in 15 seconds but im still close and my bow power is 1000 op right you can get my bow like this: get 14 bluegleam at frozen wilds get a map for bluegleam if you have it then get them bluegleams and get a scorcher heart and you will see it in banuk good at frozen wilds then kill three or two thunderjaws then your good to go

I have a 58% handling and 15% fire coil. Not sure if the 49/50% cap referred to in the vid is talking only about damage coils or % cap in general.

Is Aloy's damage reduced (or machine damage taken reduced) when game difficulty is higher? I have all purple mods but a frozen thunderjaw is only taking 200ish damage from sticky/blast bombs. Not like the 500 I see on your game...

He could be killed in one second. All you need are explosive trip mines at 500 damage, place 15 next to each other and lore it over.

The easiest way is to use one of his disc cannons against him. One cannon is enough to kill a regular Thunderjaw. May not be the fastest way, but it sure is satisfying!

I have one 50% damage mod. odd thing is I got it really early in the game. lol

Why don’t you try using a ropecaster then shoot the power cells on the Thunderjaw’s tail then shoot the heart. That’s what I’ve been doing.

hard mode?

I just lay down 2 blast wires, and a little further on, 2 shock wires. When I lead him through my trap, the blast wires knock off a lot of his armor and health. Then when he hits the shockers and is stunned, I run in and whoop the shit out of him with my spear.

I set up like 30 Blast wires using a Shadow Trip Casters with 3 +50 Damage Mods and it took much less time than 11 seconds. LMAO!!

My 7 years daughter plays on easy mode and she killed two sawtooths in maybe 6 seconds. She was lvl 14. I'm lvl 42 on medium game mod of playing. To kill one of sawtooths I need about 20/30 seconds without traps. But for a thunderjaw I need maybe more then 2/3 minutes... So guys.. what I should say?!

anyone know any tips for getting a lot of scraps. not exploits/farming exactly but enough to get around 10k shards in total. i only manage 3.5k before I have to start spending or crafting. any tips jor or anyone?
