Horizontal Timber Screening - Fixing To Brickwork or Concrete Posts

In this video we show you how to build a horizontal timber screen at a design and build project we completed a few years back. This time we are building the screen to hide an existing brick wall. This process will also work if you want to fix a screen to concrete posts or block work, any masonry sub structure really. If you have concrete posts and a panel fence system, this process will work to build a horizontal screen without needing to install new posts.
We go into some more of the details of building horizontal screens.

Awesome work thanks for the tips guys. Doing a similar project very soon. Does it not matter that the back of the battens don't get any oil on them? I'm considering oiling them before putting them up - but not sure If I have the space to do so. Also the screen fence I'm doing is at the back of the garden, and there's a normal panel fence either side of it, any tips on how to finish it on the edges where it meets the panels. Do I finish shy and plumb, or go up tight against the panels so there's no gaps, I'm stumped. (long shot, but any chance I could email you a pic for some advice on this?)

You have inspired me to do a similar project myself, just wondering if you could explain the spacing of the slats please? I paused the vid where your working out on the piece of wood was and can’t quite see what you did. Is there much wastage by cutting to the nearest upright back from your batten length? What centres were the uprights? Too many questions. Thanks 👍👍👍
