Nothing here to challenge the existing ideas imo. A net horizontal input is required to accelerate. Limited by the ability to produce enough vertical force from a less than perpendicular vertical angle. Top speed limited by the speed which can counter gravity to reduce ground contact time. Plus a small amount of positive horizontal input to counter braking/ wind resistance. Newton figured it out with F=ma.

Back in the day during college when Ephedrine was still OTC I would get the timing wrong and totally blow my presentations.
