HRT is not scary. It can save your life. What is scary is women confronting menopause with no help, even when the healthcare community has known for a long time that HRT is hugely beneficial and prevents a range of serious health conditions.

You are just brilliant and thank you for your dedication to women. I am a Harvard alum and have yet to find very few MDs who make the effort to seek the NEW information. Literally, you are SAVING women's health and lives. We are always the LAST the industry cares for. We must change this. BECAUSE of your advice, I have found an amazing Dr. who is a recent Cornell grad and agrees with all you have said. We have started my HRT this year and I have found major relief and feeling like myself again. I am diligent with healthy practices, taking progesterone + testosterone (and weight lifting) and watching my body morph back into STRENGTH from atrophy and fat growth. My gratitude overflows and I am sharing your profile far and wide. I am working on a women's group and podcast, and will bring your information to light! God bless you, Dr. Mary Claire Haver! Thank you for exposing Premarin! I’m a horse owner & share strong ethical objections to Premarin & the resulting unwanted foals that suffer & end up slaughtered, and the mares who are kept pregnant & stalled (so they can collect her urine) not allowed to move about & graze like a horse should. My gyn NP didn’t even know about Premarin, even though she’s prescribing it. Shocking.

That is horribly inhumane treatment of animal's..I feel for all animal's abuse. was put on Premarin at 55..I'm 68 now. On day 3 of taking it I was bleeding so profusely I went to the ER. The obgyn told me to keep taking it as the bleeding would stop. I never went back to her. I wasn't even aware of what HRT was and didn't ask for it...she never mentioned I could have blood clotting issues..just learned that here. I know I do have blood clotting issues now tho from having a tooth pulled and also having to go to the ER for bleeding profusely. I think now the obgyn and the dentist were both incompetent. I try to educate myself as much as possible now BEFORE I see a physician nowadays.

I appreciate you sharing your up to date information with the rest of us! I am a nurse practitioner who works in psychiatry and the lack of treatment to women for multiple issues related to hormonal issues send helpless confused women to seek mental health care when sometimes HRT could make a huge difference… or at least help them understand why they are suffering and that they are not going crazy. More information is needed and more providers need to get training to care for women later in life. The knowledge gap is huge.

The fact that men suffering from low T or sexual health problems are easily treated and insurance is much friendlier to men's needs in general is maddening beyond belief. The treatment gap goes right along with the research gap. It almost seems like society at large is fine with women suffering. When I started to transition into menopause I left my husband, then a few years later quit my job. I thought my life was over and even wished I'd die of some disease so I could eliminate the suffering. The drugs that were readily offered me were antidepressants of course. They are the answer to everything when it comes to women. Look no further, just give her some Paxil to numb her and shut her up.

Since the WHI study especially, I keep hearing/reading from MDs - including OBGYNs - that there is NO training in med school for treatment of menopause, something that half the population experiences. It is a travesty of health care. Women have to demand a change.

@@lourdeslayton332 hi! Yes I was 56 when I had it done and was post menopausal. Mine was difficult to insert because I had the uterine ablation about 10 years ago. It stops peri meno bleeding and creates scar tissue. It was difficult for my doctor because there was so much scar tissue. If you don’t have that, it shouldn’t be a problem. Tylenol before the procedure should help but it’s not really too bad. Afterward, I had a tiny amount of spotting and light cramps for a few hours. Not bad at all. Your other option could be a dual patch- containing both estrogen and progesterone. Ask your doctor which would be best for you. I love the fact that my HRT is preventing the scary diseases of menopause. I’m so glad I got Menopause Barbie’s education early!

I absolutely love the information you’re providing to perimenopausal women like myself and I have decided to make an appointment to discuss HRT with you. That is something I did not think I would ever want to do until listening to some of your videos and learning how you came to this treatment option. All of your education on nutrition is what sold me. I had lost faith in our mainstream medical community because of the misinformation and skewed data and studies around vaccines and autism when my son had his reaction to vaccines as a toddler and how life changing/shattering it was for us. As excited as I was to hear how much I resonated with you and the info you’re sharing around perimenopause, diet and HRT my heart sunk when you likened the vaccine/autism community to the cancer/HRT community. Have you dug into that issue the same way you’ve dug into this issue? Because I believe you’d find some similarities in how you’ve changed your outlook on how you were taught versus what you find doing the research on your own and living through it as you have in this department. All that being said, I am still very grateful for the time and research you have put into this topic. I am very hopeful that it is going to help me and am looking forward to getting started.

I always appreciate all the wonderful info you provide. We desperately need it. In future videos on HRT could you spend more time on progesterone? There was about one minute on it. Could we have more info on dosages, risks, and side effects (I hear dizziness a lot, which is worrying)? Especially since it's oral and goes through the liver. Is that a problem? Reviews of progesterone I read on the web are all over the place. Thank you.

I am so thankful that I found your page on TikTok I am currently following you everywhere now a full history back to me completely got it one year ago in October. Currently having joint issues, brainfog/memory,some hot flashes, low libido. Was recently diagnosed with De Quervains Tenosynovitis out of the blue. So many people (family) are telling me it could possibly be hormones. Been to MD, DC, OT, PT, and a surgeon who wants to do surgery. I am so confused and you are making me rethink hormones. The RA tested blood work and through the an obgyn she mentioned testosterone and estradial being a little low. No one ever told me that.

I use the pellets and progesterone tablets. Besides the cocktail of female hormones, we also get a small bit of Testosterone which pre-menopausal women make which helps with energy. I've lost weight just because I had energy to exercise. My skin looks younger too. I hadn't slept an 8 hour stretch of time in more than a decade. But with the hormonal therapy, I sleep the entire night. The cost isn't that bad. Costs me out of pocket $400 every 3-4 months. That's less than the daily price of a Starbucks coffee. The bloodwork is covered by insurance. I'm so glad I did it.

Thank you so much Dr. Mary, you are a god send. I have learned so much from both you and Dr. Susan. My own GP told me there was no one in Canada to help us transition through perimenopause and menopause and that unless we wanted to have children, we'd recieve no help. FYI, she was at least 15 years younger than me!! I'm 57 years old and am in perimenopause with symptoms escalating over the past year or two. I previously, apparently had PCOS diagnossed but didn't start menstruating until I was 35 and got accidentally pregnant. Now I just want all of this to stop as it is is really disrupting my life! I started taking the BCP but wanted to stop my periods completely so took it straight through. This didn't help. I then finally got referred back to an endocrinologist who said she could help manage it and added 100mg progesterone to also aid with my sleep. I am currently taking Alesse as a BCP. Still getting severe cramping as if I should be having a cycle. What do you think I should do? Continue on with a different BCP? Someone mentioned lo-estrin? I see my endocrinologist again on June 18th. Thanks again for your help!!

Hi Dr.Haver, I read your newsletter from a couple of days ago and your blog on "How to approach your healthcare provider about HT" which in turn led me to the paper you quoted on Menopause transition and Cardiovascular disease risk. According to that source, and based on date from the KEEPS trial, transdermal estradiol doesn't do much for vascular health. Does that mean people should go on the pill instead? I know you yourself are on the patch, does that info make you reconsider? It is great to have so many options, but it can also be confusing...

Since coconut oil is also an antifungal/bacteria I often put it on after using Dove sensitive soap and before getting out of the shower. But I have also found that after patting dry if I use CeraVe then apply Aveno baby eczema cream, it helps immensely.
