Thank you Perry for making the time to do these videos, it is very informative and useful as I am looking at getting a breath controller, Iv'e enjoyed your confident humility and the good quality production values of your videos

Breath controllers are the way to go with brass, strings and woodwinds. The control over expression is just better than any other device I have come across so far, in my opinion. That smoothly swelling string sound is just priceless.

Okay... I love your demo. Not many people will recognize the brief snippet of the old "Match Game" theme that you played. Made me laugh. Good job!

If you're still looking at this in 2021, thanks for the review! I would appreciate a recommendation for a first time breath controller. This seems awfully expensive for somebody (me) who has never tried a breath controller. Thanks!

You wake my interest to use one as a flute and synthesizer player :-) And I like your piece of music, where you controlled the trumpet very much. And I rarely find something I like these days :-) My biggest thanks and compliments. Sid Francis

Thanks for the Demo, Perry (just seen your post over at VI Control). I am most certainly sold on this (all right, you sold it lol). Looks like it might be on my shopping list.

Gracias por la presentación del controlador de soplo. No entiendo el porqué no usan los músicos estos expresivos aparatos. Hasta los sintetizadores antiguos del tipo Yamaha DX7 tenían la posibilidad de entrada de control de soplo.

Hi there Perry, just found your video its December 2023.. I absolutely loved it! I just started looking for a breath controller, mostly because I play in a cover band and brass is a must! I use a Roland keyboard, i am unhappy with the sounds it comes equipped with. what model of Kurzweil keyboard are you using? Also, are the brass sounds coming from that keyboard? I am looking for a keyboard that has good brass sounds, especially solo trumpets… I’ve used Roland and Korgs. But I’m at a point where im willing to invest in something that will truly let me take advantage of some more realistic sounds. Including a breath controller… Thank you in advance! Hope you get this message.

How do you managed to keyswitch between instruments, without touching any key?
@perrydarmond71628 жыл бұрын
I had them set to different thresholds. More air would bring in, or add more instruments.

Patchman Music sells a huge library of breath controlled / wind controller soundbanks for as lot of synths, soft synths, and samplers that can be used directly with this device. Go to patchmanmusic dot com and click on the "Wind Controller Soundbanks" link at the top right of the screen for all the banks available.

Any humidity issues from the constant blowing? ( i.e. spit )
@perrydarmond71622 жыл бұрын
Not really. I've used BC's since the Steiner Master's Touch in the 80's. I clean & rinse the mouthpiece & hose but there doesn't seem to be any issue with accumulated moisture. I used to fully disassemble my Yamaha BC's and never found any serious moisture or funkyness. :)

Hi Perry - thank's to all your helpful videos. I would appreciate some hints to the sales of HB1 - e.g. for the sax part or the orchestra, the flute a.s.o.: What parameters do you have chosen? Would be helpful for beginners or to reconsider the own settings!
@perrydarmond71627 жыл бұрын
My settings on the HB-1 are very straightforward. I just set the back pressure on the mouthpiece to what's comfortable for me and drive to around 5 or 6. My setting for the Samplemodeling SWAM instruments are more complex. It's a matter of personal taste to shape the sound the way you like. Some of the bigger music stores are now selling the HB-1. B&H, Ilio, etc. www.hornberg-research.de/index.php/en/breath-controller-products-en

Me again... I'm owning a HB-1 (not least because of your demonstration...) - but now I'm still fiddling around to try the best. And it's the settling for SWAM as well, which is interesting ('cause I just wanna compare). But I've spoken to Mick - eventually they will put examples on there homepage (then put your's there as well!). Thanks Detlef

Mick is a nice guy! He is great for support. I will share my SWAM presets if he decides to post them.

Hi Perry, love your videos. Have a question though. Is it possible to use a traditional keyboard midi controller to achieve the same effect as what you're doing with a breath controller?
@perrydarmond71627 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Yes...basically. You have to input expression from a mod wheel, slider or expression pedal. I find a breath controller to be the most intuitive for me, as I grew up playing trumpet.
@MrFrankpina7 жыл бұрын
But what about Vibrato? Is that also the same as Expression?
