COMBAT APPROVED

COMBAT APPROVED

2 жыл бұрын

"Hornet's Nest" - this is how the NATO classifies submarine base station of the Pacific Fleet in Kamchatka. This Russian naval base is the closest to the United States. It is from this point in the Pacific Ocean that Russian nuclear submarine cruisers with nuclear missiles on board leave for combat duty. At the same time it's one of the harshest places of service for submariners on the planet: half a year Krasheninnikov Bay, the home for the submarines, is ice-bound while only three summer months can be considered snowless. There are no submarine bases operating in such severe conditions on the planet. Media has never been permitted to film here before. For the first time journalists are allowed to tell about this military unit in such detail: suffice it to say that in this episode the viewer will see the base's underground infrastructure for the first time. And, of course, "Combat Approved" will show strategic nuclear submarine cruisers on alert at sea and how submarine crews are preparing for a naval battle on land.

As an OAP SUBMARINE VETERAN, of 32 years service, it is most refreshing to see unbiased professional videos released. For many years, the outside world have had to listen to Politicians chest thumping propaganda about the superiority of the Western Fleets - it was laughable. Submariners, irrespective of race, colour or creed are all trained to the very highest standards. Our technologies are so similar, both in sophistication and capability that nobody has any real distinct advantage. I was fortunate to train five different nationalities and it was a privilege. The most outstanding commonality from both sides is RESPECT for each other. Submariners of all countries are a brotherhood, without envy or prejudice. We are just a unique highly trained band of brothers that have GENUINE feelings about our adversaries. We stand together - proud to say we are submariners. If only Politicians could work with the same principle - then our work as ‘Guardians of Peace’ would be concluded. Thank you for the first HONEST video I have seen for many years - subscribed.

But I always viewed this stuff like to sides of the same coin. WW1,2 proxy wars, Cold War. Seams like we are best of friends in secret. So as someone from the inside. How do you guys view things? Or is it like a job, you do your shit, don’t expect anything serious to happen, but train and do recon anyway?

I don't know about today but years ago Russian submarines used to dock here during Seafair and I got to take a tour of one of their submarines. I don't remember which submarine it was but it was amazing to see the inside of it. I got to see their torpedoes which was the 1st time ever seeing one. I also got to tour the ship the movie Titanic was filmed on. They didn't tell us at 1st. When we got to the engine room I instantly recognized the steam engines from the movie and then they told us about how they filmed the engine room scene there. Then they showed us the spot where they went into the car in the movie during the love scene. That was an awesome tour as well. That ship is still in operation. It has big guns on the deck that I got to take pictures with.

Russian submarines have been incredibly successful and impressive. This was a really good episode! Some technical stuff, some good views of the endless wiring and plumbing inside the submarines, we got a good level here. As an electronics guy I was grateful to see the astounding buildings full of power supplies, I never thought of that! What kind of PLUG does the berthed submarine have for all that? Do they open a hatch somewhere and a vast sheaf of cables comes out? I understand a show like this can't be too technical without boring people. Anyway, a good comprehensive view of something I've never seen before. So complicated, so much hardware!

The voice overs for the Russian voices really took away all action for me. If the old narrator won't come back, would it be possible to just do a voice over but keep the Russian voices too? The previous episodes had Russian voices + subtitles, this really made the episodes that much better for me. I hope they will never take the wrong decision in critical moments... But the more difficult geopolitic situation we have, the greater the probability of an unwanted nuclear incident becomes. I think that humanity will blow up itself at one day in the future, no matter which nation bushes the red button first.

Considering Russians are very adept at secrecy and misdirection, It is impressive that the countering scenarios depicted here are for an advanced combat strategy scheme, that I would never have thought of. The impressive part is that we all know these aren't really what they do. I'm just happy my nation doesn't involve itself if such affairs and is therefor unlikely to ever go up against these guys, or the guys they're against. Just do my farming and worry about rain, sun and harvest.

interesting video, I have mixed thoughts about such vessels. As their so deadly do we, (the people of all nations) want them cruising the worlds oceans? Yet is it because of them, the super powers are forced to respect the need for peace as no one side would win an all out war. Unlike the submarines of the past, the master and crew's of all such vessels hold worlds existance in their hands. I could rabbit on for ages about the fear of having such vessels, but i guess we all have our own thoughts on such matters, i'm just grateful that the training and selection of such men is taken so serious, regardless of what flag they sail under.

Our cruise ship stopped in Petropavlosk. Those who were on an excursion got off the ship quickly while those who wanted to walk around the town had to wait for about 5 hours for the Russians to stamp the passports. The Russians were not in a hurry.
