Great railway and always a pleasure to watch, be nice to see some enthusiast's steam specials running, that would give an excuse for otherwise out of place steam locomotives to be seen running.

Very atmospheric. So immersive it's almost like being trackside. Superb modelling.

Well done Kier and thanks! Have been a semi regular lurker at your EMgauge 70s site for a few years but just discovered your KZfaq channel and have just basically binge-viewed an awful lot - where exactly did this morning go to?!😅 I swear my hair and clothes smell of diesel! Very, very enjoyable to watch as a lifelong fan of ECML, pre-TOPS, smoky Kings Cross tunnels and especially Deltic, all my life. Congrats on the channel and for the inspiration that your ability to turn a keen eyed observation into massively atmospheric layouts provides. One of the great layouts. Keep it up! Regards, Richard.

This layout, the quality of the modelling, the variety of motive power and rolling stock, is absolutely top notch. Just sat and watched part 1, eager to see what was coming round the corner next. Almost like being there!

Really enjoyed these compilations. My dad had a flat in Hornsey after my parents separated and the feel of this layout (albeit it was about 1977!) is so evocative of that time, albeit by then of course the HSTs had started running, though seeing the Deltics reminds me of catching a train from Leeds to come down to London to visit relatives before that! It triggers a fond memory of a kindly driver who let me in to have a look in the cab (never happen now!) before we departed. Wonderful stuff and I look forward to seeing more 👍🍻😎

What a layout, watching this reminds me of visiting a new region for Red lines in the combine aged about 12, so exited to what was going to show next. Crepello plate also reminded me of many miles behind that machine.

Evening Kier. Really enjoyed this running session. I have also spent long watching times at the real layout at many exhibitions as it’s one of my fondest memories of train spotting in the late 79s I live in Manchester and caught the London Euston sleeper train so I could bash the London area especially Stratford station. Sometimes I’d try and sneak through the passages way too the shed 😂 I’m going to enjoy your videos I’m sure. Take care cheers Stevie.

Great . A nice little while spent train spotting . Loved it and looking forward to more episodes . I do like this late 60s early 70s pre TOPS eta , so seldom modelled .

Thanks for uploading, this is one of my all time favourite layouts. Just love how you captured the look and feel of the period.

Superb layout Kier ,in fact nostalgia gold, saw this layout at Shipley a few years ago it was next to my son's layout The Mill, comming as I do from Walthamstow E17 and spending all my youth spotting around London etc, it was like being trackside again, I often cycled to Hornsey after school with a mate to do the shed then 2-3 hours on the station, we also saw one of the last Quad Art workings behind a baby Deltic or a brush 2, sorry for length of comment but sutch a

Absolutely stunning is an absolutely inadequate description. Wonderfully evocotive and blame S&T for the collision, their point interlocking should have provided the relevant flank protection! lol

Another great video Kier! Although missing the exhibitions due to COVID, it is great to watch the layout without be jostled by other visitors. Looking forward to the future videos. Take care and stay safe.

Thanks - the online presence is the next best thing during the absence of exhibitions and social gatherings, although I can't say I miss the dimwit bumping into the baseboard edge with his rucksack full of secondhand Tri-ang :)

Is it me or does the video play with the trains seemingly jumping along the track. Pity that as this is a superb layout

Thank you so much for posting these videos, it's fantastic to watch this magnificent creation again. 3:31 I laughed a lot, certainly never seen anything such as this happen before 🤣, perhaps you should hire some professionals to help you out? Seriously though, it's been an absolute privilege, look forward to seeing Hornsey Broadway again someday 😃

Where does the line go to the far left under the vertical uprights? It almost looks like that could be for London Underground. No trains seem to come and go that way much.

It's a Class 74 electro-diesel. 10 were converted at Crewe Works in 1969 from redundant Class 71 electric locos.

Excellent as ever Kier - what's that 76 doing on the shelf above the layout?? Future project?
@kierhardy27893 жыл бұрын
That conversion from a Tri-ang EM2 was done back in the 1980s and never went any further.

I could sit and watch this busy junction all day. Does it light up at night? This must be pre HST era? And pre electrification of even the first part of the ECML? So DMUs were used to places like Welwyn on the slow services? It's quite steeped with history this layout.
@kierhardy27893 жыл бұрын
No lighting apart from in the loco shed building - the layout is set C1970 before the wires went up, so suburban services in the hands of DMUs and Class 31 with non-corridor stock.
