So sorry Bob, I had an incident with my girl when she was 11months. She ran in front of the truck when going down the drive and it did a number on her. But by the grace of god, alot of cash donated by great friends and family and 3 months of recovery shes still here with me today.

I got a similar call Bob... We got so lucky that Odin only suffered a bad break of his femur. He is 14 weeks post op, and isn't healing as well as we had hoped. 2 more weeks in the kennel and we are hopeful the xrays come back good. Sorry for your lost man. Keep the faith. The struggle makes the success sweeter

I’m so sorry Bobby, I just lost my 5 year old black lab to heart worms. Nothing I could do but watch him suffer and pray the medicine worked. 110 pounds of pure muscle and nothing but a gentle giant. Heart worms sucked him down to 95 pounds. I know it’s rough. Labs always hold a special place

Man, my heart breaks for you, I have had a stretch like that with my beloved dogs and it was no fun! Keep pushing forward! Don’t give up, there will be better days ahead.... it’s hard to see now, but I can tell you after losing two young dogs that I bought to start my kennel operation, getting them trained and rocking it out, and then losing them at just a couple years old I felt devastated, I wanted to give up. Thankfully my wife didn’t let me and I now have four healthy awesome hunting partners ranging from 2 years old to 7 and I wouldn’t trade any of it. Loss teaches you a lot and it makes you better in the long run. Hold your head up and don’t stop being you, we all love ya man!

We got a springer spaniel puppy last year and exactly a year ago yesterday when she was 3 months old had to get 2 life saving surgeries. Losing her would have crushed me. Keep your head up Bob!

So sorry for your loss. We went through a similar spell in 2018. Thank you for sharing and reminding everyone that what we do is dangerous, and usually we are in precarious situations with little to no sleep while fighting the elements. You guides, outfitters, trainers have an incredibly difficult job to perform and ensure that clients are happy and want to come back. You guys are grinding for several months at a time, don’t be afraid to take a break and get your head right.

My heart breaks for you and your family, which guys like Garold and Preston are definitely your family, as well. The only folks who can ever understand the depth of the bond between a man and his hunting dog are those who take to the field with those dogs. We love those four legged children more than we love most people. It hurts even to see your pain. Thoughts and prayers with the Guy family. Don't give up on Fred. He might not be able to do everything all the time, but with an ortho doc that specializes in dysplasia, I think you can have him hunting pretty much pain free a year from now. Something to consider, especially with Fred still being a pup.

My best bud had a Golden pup that was crazy about biting at tires. all tires car,truck,bikes ect. One season he got to close and died. I felt so bad for them, its was 7 years ago and we still grieve over Sweet Duke. Prayers and blessings to you and your family.

I lost my dog to cancer and after about six months I lucked into a new puppy. Before she got to six months old she saw a person walking down the street. Her love of people made her take off in a full sprint to chase down the guy and say hello... I could not catch her in time and she met the front bumper of a truck driving by. The guy driving didn't even stop. It was one of the hardest things to experience feeling the last heartbeats of two dogs you love... I know what you are going through. It sucks and you have to deal with it. I'm sorry for your wife, and everyone involved.

My grandfather was the foreman of a heading mill operation in west TN in the 1920 s till 1950 s . He also went and bought the timber . I think there is still a stave mill near Bolivar TN. In case you didn't know a heading mill makes Barrel Heads. Of course in the earlier years they shipped a lot of different kinds of goods in barrels back before plastics etc.
