Horse Abscess - Bint Morsid is a 30 year old registered Arabian. Her 80 year old Owner was a Breeder and could no longer care for her 4 beautiful Arabians. Bint and her Daughter Eldinaa age 25 and Eldinaa's 2 daughters Windrush Merilegs age 20 and Windrush Ferzinaa age 18 came into care at Double D Animal Rescue and Community Services located in Rhome, Texas. Double D is in the process of filing for 501c(e) Non Profit Status. Double D is ran by Diana Darnall and decided to become a non Profit Rescue after saving 3 horses last year from that were owned by a Kill Buyer and takes them to Mexico or Canada to the Horse slaughter Plant where the horses are processed for Human consumption for a delicacy in Europe. She has another horse that she adopted from the Human Society of North Texas after the owner could no longer care for her horse after a spouse lost their job. The 4 Arabians are the first horses to come into care at the Double D. Bint had immunization 2 days before arriving at Double D and she has many Cancerous tumors all over her body. After arriving she had 3 different opinions on the large lump on her neck and was told...cancer and nothing could be done. The lump tripled in size in a short amount of time and Diana had the Vet come out again. He immediately diagnosed as a ABSCESS from a injection. However he had never seen one this size and the drainage this color. It was actually the color of brown mud. Bint (we call Grand Mother) is so relieved and on the road to recovery here at the Double D. Expected recovery/healing time 2 months.

@@ChamberK-1 Abscesses this large CAN form overnight. But from the commentary on the video, it's clear that this was NOT the case in this video. You don't get a basketball sized patch of necrotic skin from an overnight abscess. The only way the flesh is already dead is if it was left to fester for some time. If it was an overnight abscess it would be clear (serum/lymph), red (Hematoma) or yellowish/white (cyst). To be this color pretty much means it was long since compromised.

Its a long story 2 other vets said it was cancer and she was dying. She eventually found a vet willing to atleast try and lance it just incase, and this is it. As an elderly horse, noone cared and as such, the horse was left to suffer. If i remember rightly, this lady adopted her as previous owners didnt care either. She got so much abuse, when actually, she bent over backwards to save Grandma.

If she had accepted what the other 2 vets had said before, she would not have gotten a 3rd person to finally lance the site. If you want to blame anyone, blame the other 2 vets who just asperated the site and said no more can be done because they believed it was a melanoma. This horse is also a rescued horse and she had just come to this lady. This lady did everything she could for this horse. These things can show up quite quickly but because the other 2 vets came and did nothing, it got worse and worse until what we have now. Most vets will first check to see if this is an infection or a haematoma (can't lance it if its a haematoma). Since they probably saw the mud colour, concluded that it was a melanoma and left it like that. Of course the lady then sought a 2nd opinion, which by the sounds of things said the same thing. It wasn't until this vet decided that he would lance it, that we know it was a very bad abscess.

For those who are upset at the horses condition, before posting negative comments please bare in mind that sometimes animals are in bad shape in someone's care due to neglect from previous owner and not had them long enough to appear well cared for. Like the lady in this video. She said she took on the horse from someone who could not provide the care needed, for whatever reason and she saw different vets. Other people may have done things differently but thanks to this woman the horse at least has had the abscess lanced which is more care and attention than the horse had previously.

TheFuzzyPenguin this is a older video but Incase you have still missed it here are the facts. Horse is a rescue, horse is 30 years old, horse is covered in tumors. Tumors are common in older gray horses. This horse was seen by 2 vets prior to this vet actually diagnosing the abscess both vets said it was a cancerous tumor and that their was no treatment. New owner was smart and got a 3rd opinion. Now my thoughts on the color of the crap coming out. It’s possible that she had a hidden melanoma in that location and the vaccines somehow triggered the breakdown of the tumor as well as caused the infection of the area. Unusual but not impossible. What is ridiculous is that 2 vets failed to do a simple needle aspiration! It don’t cost but pennies to do and would have prevented the amount of tissue destruction that is seen here! Grandma is very lucky as most people would have assumed the first vet was correctly diagnosing the horse and considered her advanced age just put her down.
