A horse was found stranded on a rooftop in a flooded area in Brazil's Rio Grande do Sul on May 8, 2024. Aerial views showed the brown horse standing on top of a building that had been submerged in floodwater.
The death toll from heavy rains that swamped Rio Grande do Sul in recent days has climbed to 100, local civil defense said on Wednesday, as Brazil's southernmost state braces for more rain in the coming hours and days.
The storms have caused floods that destroyed bridges and buildings, turning streets into rivers and leaving more than 163,000 displaced in Rio Grande do Sul, which borders Uruguay and Argentina.
Brazil's national center for natural disasters said on Tuesday that the southern area of the state was under "high risk" of more floods on Wednesday, with rainfall expected to restart. It's been rescued this morning (local time) by firefighters. It's a mare BTW. Their vet'd accessed her condition and got her sedated before they laid her gently on the dinghy. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/eM12ddl03ZuroHU.html

No dice. Slippery and slanted roof - she'd fall off it in to time - the clever girl knew it and persevered till the end when firefighters came in and rescued her.
