2year old FILLIES can go into heat???? But more concerning is all that flinching... That concept art sculpture was GORGEOUS. The movements showed such a great understanding of horse language.

The flinching is because the person walked toward him and he knew he did wrong trying to go near the mare. Yes 2 year olds can go into heat, seen them pregnant at that age, either from the wild that were caught or accidental when a stallion got loose on property

I was literally gunnu point out the same thing. The severity of the flinch that colt just made at her voice was awful. The fact that the filly flinched too is just showing she's been 'dealing' with both of them and not just the male. You can just imagine the awful comments on the video of people cheering her on.

I noticed this too, when she speaks the horses both flinch, and when she gets up and starts walking to them the stallion tries to get away and the "mare" (filly) moves away as well...

3:40 thats stallion is awfully frightented, the slightest movement and he flinched, obviously the stallion is not being taught his manners the correct way if he flinchs like so. Train your stallion right and dont abuse them, or get them gelded. Its so simple, seeing the poor stallion so scared is honestly heartbreaking.

I agree. Stallions have to be trained well, for the safety of handlers and mares if they're breeding stock. If they're NOT breeding stock, they need to be gelded. What this person was doing was not training. It was dominance through fear. There is no way in hell they'd get within a hundred yards of one of my horses. And if I saw whatever the hell they did to make that stallion so fearful, I'd be turning their worthless ass in. I have zero respect for people who treat their horses this way.

@@HughLlewellyn Exactly!! People need to either let experienced professionals-ACTUAL PROFESSIONALS-breed horses, or learn more about horses and what they need/how their bodies work. This doesn't really have to do with the clip, but it's a common myth that horses feel less pain and have thicker skin, which is an excuse people use so they can be rough or careless with horses. FALSE!!!! Just because they are bigger animals doesn't mean they feel less pain; horses actually have much thinner skin than humans and have more nerve endings. How do people think a horse can feel a fly land on their back even through a layer of fur?

@@lenacat3207 Yes, definitely! I was looking for a place to board my senior Arabian gelding when I moved to Wichita Kansas for a while. Anyone familiar with the kind of severe storms that happen in Wichita have to be concerned about the kind of shelter horses have. Baseball-sized hail is not uncommon. So I was asking what kind of shelters they had for their pasture board, and the woman who owned the place said they didn't have shelters. I asked what they did during severe weather, what about big hail? Did they bring the horses in? NOPE. She actually said, "oh they're fine in hail. It's just like a massage to them." I was HORRIFIED. Horses can be knocked dead by a hit in the head from a 2" hail stone. If it'll go through the reinforced glass on your windshield, it can go through a horse's skull, FFS! I turned on my heel and walked away. I found a decent place with stalls AND run-in sheds for my beloved horse. Good god people are stupid.

Teaching him to be calm when around other mares, unlike other stallions that you see in videos where the owners can barely control the horse because another mare is in sight.

The second one startled me because my irish cob at my grandpa's farm would overreact when i do smth-💀💀💀 It kinda confused me so i asked my grandpa why he does that alot He said that the previous owners didnt take good care of him and only forced him to do rides and tricks with them and were too harsh to the poor horse A few days before my bday my grandpa gifted me Strike(the irish cob) he was loving and kind to me, We kind of had difficulties with him being a bit scared and agressive but we fixed that in 70 days :) Hes happy and always loved by us :) he appreciates the whole love Hes safe

Hopefully is sarcasm because 3:13 is one dumb human, and two horses who are very scared of said dumb human. Your horse shouldn't jump if you just stand up, and its incredibly ignorant to tie a mare in heat near a stud

This clip disgusted me, and the biggest problem is things like this teach less educated people that this stuff is okay and is just "normal" or "necessary" or the horse "doesn't care". Clearly the horses were afraid of the human and should not have been put in that situation. Also, I hate it when people laugh or think it's funny or entertaining when they do something and a horse spooks or seems in pain, and most people just think it's funny. Like, can you not see this horse is in pain/discomfort? anyways, I'm done with my rant now :) just hope people start to think for themselves and don't think every horse tiktok is ok just because it's on tiktok

The 'aggressive' mustang at 5:40, there was not one vid were the tail was waggin' intensely (Surly there weren't flies everyday?). He had a threshold and it was poked every time he launched himself to bite in retaliation. He was one upset mustang, makes you wonder what happened to him prior and/or if he's training should have slowed even more so.

A lot of horses get trained improperly, then get dumped when they react out to the bad training. Those horses learn to be “aggressive” in order to make it stop. Horses need to be taught that humans are in charge, but that we aren’t going to hurt them in a patient manner. No amount of beating or yelling or cursing will train a horse. You’re only creating a ticking time bomb.

@@mageofdoomsie1598A lot of what you said is true but horses don't generally 'need' to be taught that humans are in charge (They have a pretty natural understanding of what a leader looks/feels/acts like, it's more how a person behaves in turn then to reach out as 'leader') or at least not in the way a lot of weirdoes perspective on that sentence ends up being about 'alphas' and 'dominance'. When a horse comes to you and is labelled or 'acting' as aggressive its more about being a little more sensitive about their thresholds and watching out for what triggers or fears them during a session or contact, not about making sure 'they see you as boss/in charge'. ;)

Could it be from a show or smth? Didn't like War Horse have a stage thing, with 'mechanical' horses? Real cool tho, even if the horse looks a tad confused. Getting the movements but not the scents I guess.

The mechanical horse is joey from the stage show "war horse" and the real horse I believe is a mounted officer. Just funny happenstance that the two should meet.

@@lyssakate horses are prey animals and flight animals. Flinching is a pretty typical response to any sudden stimuli.

@@scarletrose2880 I've been around horses my whole life, and had to re-teach a lot of scared horses to trust again after harsh training methods were used. That wasn't him startled. If you don't see that I guess we'll have to agree to disagree

If your thinking about the horse at 1:15 I'm pretty sure its just the weird angles. The horses neck looks fine in some of the shots and the doesn't show signs of skinniness anywhere else from what I can perceive.

uh, what? just because a horse may have an undermuscled neck doesnt mean theyre being abused or skinny. you cant just go off of their neck either? the entire body determines their weight. horse necks are not fat holders so they typically aren't very big either.

Alright, I’m gonna explain how to determine a horses weight since you have never touched a horse in your life. You look at a horses butt and shoulders to determine weight, NEVER LOOK AT THEIR NECK OR BELLY TO DETERMINE WEIGHT. The neck is not a fat holder, and a more athletic horse will be more lean. however, I will say the neck holds a lot of muscle. A horses neck being under muscled does not mean abuse. It just means they need to work on neck muscles a bit.

Most mares experience heat cycles during spring and summer months, when days are longer and warmer. On average, your mare will be in heat (estrus) for six days, then out for 15 days in a recurring cycle. Estrus-a recurring period of sexual receptivity and fertility in many female mammals
