I swear checkpoint saw our comments on the last video and he's just trolling us at this point He knew how to use deployment zones last episode i can't imagine what must have happened since then to make him think there's ever an appropriate time to willingly give yourself less space to deploy than your opponent

Last time you did this i was worried it would completely break the game if used properly. Luckily, this is the yogscast. There was never any risk of it being used properly.

Checkpoint we love you, but this was painful to watch. I think the concept of the line moving is messing him up too much. I'd love to see this same game mode against maybe Duncan or someone else

Hey Tom, Whilst you're experimenting with rules for TABS, I've had a rule in mind you might want to consider trying out. Unit Upgrade Rule - INSTEAD of deploying on your turn, you may replace ONE unit with any other unit, so long as you don't go over your point cap It's a rule designed to make big units more visible in the horse game, without commiting so hard when your lose twice, or performing risky 'underbudgets'. It can be flexible, as it allows you to remove units that become outright liabilities, but doesn't allow you to completely change your strategy (cant upgrade a wave of halflings to archers). But since you must choose to do this instead of deploying units, you need to be conscious of how under budget you are going just to replace a liability. If anyone is interested in this, feel free to upvote.

I think it'd be fun if, instead of changing the line manually, you can somehow randomize where the line is after each round.

I made 2 campaigns for Tom, although some of the battles I made before the Spooky and Pirate factions so they might be slightly easier now. They are called: BAM! (for Angory Tom) Angory Tom Epic Challenges The first one has individual challenges for each level, the second one is more focused on weird or interesting circle/line placements. I hope you enjoy!

'Skirmish Horse' feels like the name for this, as there are just several little fights going on in every section of the field. Real cool, though Checkpoint.. The deployment zones are a double edged sword no matter how you cut it, this gamemode benefits by using the battle line changing rule to take out extreme threat targets such as ballistas.

I have to say, I am REALLY enjoying the use of deployment zones. I think it is a really clever way to keep HORSE fresh.

I thought Checkpoint commentated the TABS tournament with Tom because he was supposed to be good. But seeing this I'm certain he would have been beaten on the first round.

Moving the line is a fun idea in theory. But I feel Tom is already at an advantage to everyone anyway, he's played a lot more and has a better understanding of the game. Giving him the ability to deploy his troops behind the enemy just snowballs his victory even harder as they don't know how to deal with it.

The new rules really spice up this game!

I feel like instead of moving the line, the user should get to rotate it. That way everyone gets the same amount of map space (generally), but it opens up new flanks/positioning, allowing for the same amount of chaos, but not having a directly optimal angle.

Sometimes Tom's opponents don't do to well because they don't know TABS like he does so I think adding in more mechanics like deployment zone changes makes it even harder for them.

When I was partway through the video, looking at the comments, I saw a bunch of people talking about how Checkpoint isn't great with deployment zones, and thought "I know, right?! He's only giving himself 1/3 of the entire map!" Then a few minutes later, he goes and gives himself 1/16 OF IT. Just... HOW.

Changing the lines after the first round is a bit op. basically sets you up to win the next two rounds. You should only change the lines if they loose 3 in a row

I don't like the changing the line thing because like Tom said there is too much to follow making it just sheer chaos. Also the line changing makes ranged units useless because you can just put melee units behind them.

I had a thought on how to shake up the format again. So each round you get 2000 points, but it's deployed in ABBA format. So person one puts down a thousand, then person two puts down all 2000 of theirs, then person one puts down their final thousand. That way each round has multi-level counter deployment

If both players made the right play, using ranged units is the worst thing you can do in this rule set, because even if you win a round, they'll have to fight melee in the next round. The meta is just to give the other person no space and put good melee units behind their best units.

Does TABS have an instant replay feature that would allow you to get footage of different parts of the same battle on multiple viewings? That might be an interesting aspect of these "lines" scenarios you could explore. Sure, it would mean spending more time in production and post but I think the added depth might be worth it. Just a thought, really.

Maybe change to the Deployment line should only be by turning its 90 degrees, not actual moving it, just turning it.

I think a better rule would be after two losses you can either clear all or reset boundaries
