I liked that the horse was cooperative! Also, that it does not bite! I've had an accident two weeks ago from our "mustang" horse. 😌

My horse died of the same thing. It's cellulitis or lymphangitis. Could've started from scratches. 1 dose of antibiotics isn't going to clear it up. She needed to shave the leg and do a betadine iodine scrub on it, cold hose it, ointment it with furazone and do a sweat wrap.

Dealing with this myself right now, scratches/mud fever that triggered cellulitis. Vet came out and gave a dexamethasone injection to fight inflammation response and a 10 day course of SMV antibiotics. Just finished the antibiotics last night but the leg is still swollen, the scratches are still scabby, and I'm still stressed lol. I was treating it with Absorbine Fungasol shampoo and ointment before I called the vet but that didn't do much either. Did you find furazone helped much? I haven't wrapped it because the vet said to let it dry out and keeping moisture locked in would hurt more.

Of course horses have ankles. It's just that on horses, we call them hocks.

Did she have a temperature? Are culture and sensitivity tests still being done? Secretariate was a great horse! I remember Secretariate very well and the excitement everyone experienced when Secretariate won the Triple Crown!

Not been funny but If my horse hurt her foot she would be in a stable so she couldn’t do any more damage I would of also wrapped it.
